This movie captures that first love experience so well!

THIS is the one to watch! So good 🎉❤
Amazing title!
i miss my girlfriend so much🙁
Very cool!
I remember telling you we were starting a podcast! Love my mic 🎤
Hi!
Hey Marlon!!!!!!!!
This movie was chaotic and not like teenagers unless the teenager was hella depressed. I love this movie
Agreed, it’s a classic! Such a good one to review, we are excited to revisit it on our new podcast! Thanks for commenting!
First saw this movie on IFC channel back in 2008. Really good soundtrack, and the color palet is interesting. Haven’t seen many films with that low burning red, Amber look.
Such a good soundtrack! The way it was filmed is absolutely beautiful! We just revisited this review in our new podcast Queer Films Revisited, about All Over Me!
I loved this movie as a Bi queer individual and I loved the girls and seeing Peter Facinelli’s ass and Elden Henson with the long hair from the Mighty Ducks,Yum
No lies detected there, it’s a great film! Thank you for watching and commenting!
New subscriber. So happy to see you've also covered this favorite of mine <3

FIRST COMMENT? <3 Honored. Love the video, y'all. Subscribed!
Yay! Thank you! We are going to be posting more soon!
I wish someone would upload this movie
We agree with you! Sad HBO/Max doesn’t have it available.
I think this movie was ok, I think the plot was all over the place. I think story would be work better, if this was a TV series as the story could’ve been flushed a little bit better. As I think the movie rushes to quick and plot-line seem either, missing or not put in the movie as it could work as a series.
That’s a good point! A series could have definitely developed the storylines more. Thanks for watching & commenting!
@@anythingsaidproductions Yep, no problem.
Her depiction of women in American prisons in Stranger Inside (as the director) was pathetic. At the start, you have women being strip searched and showering under the full glare of male guards - obviously totally wrong, a human rights abuse, and something that was indeed happening at that time. Yet they present it as if its totally normal and without making an issue out of it. The women don’t remotely behave like they are experiencing the humiliation and dehumanisation of being forced to be naked in front of male guards. If you are going to make a ‘serious’ film about women in American prisons at that time, at least present the forced nudity in front of male guards as the abuse and injustice that it is, rather than presenting it as if it is totally normal.
That’s a very valid point. I strongly believe, if it’s not the directors* life experience, a lot of research should be done and to have an on set* consultant. Representing people’s stories with depth and integrity is essential to them relating to it. Thank you for your comment! *edits
i dont really understand your response and the point you are making, other than the part where you said 'thats a very valid point'. i get that you are agreeing with the point i made but i dont understand what you said after 'thats a very valid point'. @@@anythingsaidproductions
We appreciate your response! Hopefully the revisions/edits made our reply more clear.
I think my opinion I don’t think that, Harper was that unlikable, character or even that hateable. I just think that her character wasn’t written that well and made her a bad guy, pretty much for no reason as I think that was kind of pretty lame. That the written to make Abby more likeable and more relatable to her character, and didn’t give Harper any proper development in the whole story. Which I think the could have been better, they focus more Abby and Harper character as a couple. Rather painting Harper as a bad girlfriend and we forced to dislike her, which we forced sided with Abby and Riley because we suppose too. While we get no focus on Harper character to see how she is feeling, putting her girlfriend through all that or feeling bad making Abby doing this. As we no scene what Harper doing.
Thank you! I think that seems to be the consensus. Which, when looking at it from Harper’s POV, we are only given her actions; none of her internal struggle with guilt that lets us understand her actions/ choices better.
She definitely get a lot of hate in the movie. I think story would be work better, if this was a TV series as the story could’ve. Been flushed a little bit better as I think, the movie was rushes to quick and plot-line. Seem to either missing or not put in the movie as it could work as a series.
Sorry, I'm a little late to the comments. I'd like to provide a little context to why you might rewatch this movie. The reason why Vivian (the professor) is in Reno is to get a divorce. Back in the 50s it was difficult for a woman to get a divorce in the US without significant reason. Nevada was an exception. If you stayed there for 6 weeks and established residence, you could obtain a no-fault divorce. This plot in the movie is a social commentary on the plight of women in the 1950s who wanted out of unsatisfying relationships. The period setting of 1950s in the western US is well done in the portrayal of setting, clothing, music, attitudes, etc. The movie deserves praise for that filmmaking integrity. Cay represents people that have existed in real life, not only in the 1950s, but throughout the 20th century. People who not only pushed boundaries, but stepped across boundaries without caring about what other people might think. In other words, groundbreakers. The characters in the movie who are opposed to Cays' lifestyle are shown as archaic, the characters who accepted her for who she was were shown as open minded. The movie, appearing in theaters for the general public, probably opened the eyes of a lot of people that not only did people of different persuasions exist, but that they deserved acceptance. Again, groundbreaking.
We really do appreciate that information and see how it portrayed that, regarding Nevada-just don’t recall that being mentioned specifically though, so this helps, thank you! This film is something we would definitely rewatch; because we review through a current day lens, it’s nice to be reminded of the groundbreaking work a film has done.
I like the movie a lot, but I kinda hate the way the writer. Written and made Harper character as a bad guy of the story, while they made Abby and Riley too likeable and a innocent victims. Which I think they did Harper character really dirty in this movie.
Agreed, there was a lot of attention placed on Abby and Riley, almost felt like a misdirection.
@@anythingsaidproductions Totally alright, too much focus on Abby with Riley and not. A enough focus on Abby with Harper, that much in the whole movie.
I think this movie was ok, I think the plot was all over the place. I think story would be work better, if this was a TV series as the story could’ve been flushed a little bit better. As I think the movie rushes to quick and plot-line seem either, missing or not put in the movie as it could work as a series.
I don’t think that Harper was the problem, I think Abby is the problem as I think. She kinda weak of a person in my opinion, because she keep on accepted and agreed to everything. I don’t think Harper was even try that hard, convincing Abby to do anything or everything. I mean, Harper didn’t have or need to manipulated Abby. (It not she a abuser of a person or anything.) But Abby just quickly accepted it without, a second thought for she made a decision. Like when she finally decided to leave, after the crap she gone through and everything. She quickly to accept to stay, after Harper ask her too without. Any real effort to convince her. Abby only decided to leave for good, after she finally see the real Harper. And she again accepted Harper apology and forgave her, without Harper even have try hard to convince Abby. She also forgiven the twin kids for what, they to her and accepted their apology. Honestly, I couldn’t feels that sorry for Abby, if she was that easy to convince. By not a good person that didn’t, need to try that hard to convince her. I don’t think Harper a manipulator, because she never force Abby into anything. Abby just easily accept and agreed to it. Sure Harper maybe a terrible person, but she isn’t that of bad person. She just made a bad decision in her life, even though she it doesn’t excuse. What she had done to Riley in the past, but she isn’t perfect and she isn’t evil neither.
Thank you so much for watching our review and giving us your point of view. It’s so fascinating how people can view peoples actions differently. We really appreciate your thought out opinions, and how maybe Harpers actions weren’t to be manipulative. It’s hard to be in the closet as a gay person, so this movie does a good job of showing the story. Thank you again for watching! We appreciate it so much
@@anythingsaidproductions Thanks. I think the problem is it not, just Harper being a bad partner. I think is Abby is being weak in the movie as she does nothing, to stand on her feet and kinda complainant a bit in the movie. Even if Harper was bad, but it seem she was focused to be dislike. A lot by the writers and didn’t give Harper much, focused scene on her to understand her more. I feels like the writer Abby being the victim and Riley as well as writers, put too much focus Abby and Riley sympathise characters. While Harper made much of a bad guy, as weren’t many scenes or focus on her in the movie. Or any scene with Abby and Harper, which is what the movie was suppose. To be about not focus on Abby and Riley.
I think my opinion I don’t think that, Harper was that unlikable, character or even that hateable. I just think that her character wasn’t written that well and made her a bad guy, pretty much for no reason as I think that was kind of pretty lame. In my opinion Angelina Jolie did a great job 👏
Agreed! I think one of her best performances.

Still speechless over this film! We should watch it again!
I love this film. I still watch it at least once a year. It takes me back to that time period. A riot grrl friend of mine turned me on to this film.
We couldn’t agree more it’s one of our favorites!
In law don't be out law...
I love this movie so much!
Agreed! 🙌
Good job. It is interesting listening to reviews of movies made in the 90's. I'm so old I saw C.A. in the movie theaters.
Hey thanks JR!
I love your guys channel, it’s so important to amplify and support queer movies. Thank you for all you do!
Thank you so much!
As an Aussie I endorse and love this film. It does not get love.
We read your comment on our new podcast episode about this movie!
Can't hear you.
Thank you for letting us know the audio is poor quality here. This was our first video recorded on an older phone camera. Hopefully our more recent videos have better audio, since we’ve improved on the equipment we use for filming.
This movie was so unrealistic. Never in real life teenagers have that level of maturity about love. These girl characters really had some depth of mind, beyond their years ''wisdom''. That wisdom only my grandfather could have the day he almost dies. Because this movie is so fed up with drama. ''Letter to my birth mother?'' did not sound real, because when girls are in high school these types of conversations do not happen. Also I though was a really big negative point Paulie having mental health problems. Because that is not making the character look more likable. And we do not sympathize more with her for the fact she is a lesbian and plus have mental problems at the same time; that's too messy.
Hi Andreia! We agree, “who wants to read a letter to my birth mother” sounds a) totally not realistic b) like a heads up to avoid that person and c) just not a compelling read. But we take that dialogue like champs (cringe and bear it) because of the limited catalog of lesbian films! Do you have any films you’d like to see us review?
might be a bit weird to answer this 2 years later, but I just finished this movie and wanted to say I completely disagree. I'm 17 and all of the things that happen in the movie the dialogue and stuff too are very realistic. honestly it felt like it mightve been one of my school days and it impacted me so much bcuz of that.
The actors did great!
Thank you! They are super talented and were amazing to work with! Casting was a lot of fun 🤩
Congratulations! I love it 👏🙌🥰
The way you can hear the crystals jingle at 3:53 just kills me every time 😂😂

One of my favorite movies
I’ve had it on vhs and dvd since it came out
Angelina is bisexual and has had relationships with all genders
This is one of my favorite movies, growing up in the 90’s and coming out as bisexual in the 6th grade in 96/97 this movie struck a cord with me especially since I was raised in a house with only women so I have a different outlook than most guys
Mike I appreciate you sharing your experience, thank you!
I can't get that line from that song outta my head " Do you think you can make it on your own, your head is big but your boyfriend says it hasn't grown" haha
