I modified a stock paper air filter to holds a foam motorcycle filter. I used black RTV sealant to shape and hold base and around the end of the original metal cage. Filter I’m using from Amazon a.co/d/5v00B8k

Beautiful ride sorry you got wet keep a going buddy
Thanks for the encouragement. I hope you are doing well. I hope I finally got the GPS working correctly. Things were showing up that were previously deleted. I had to force it to restart several times to clear it up and then it finally recognized the sd card. It’s always good to hear from you.
Beautiful ride 😊
Hi Chuck, lots of closed roads and GPS problems but it was a beautiful ride.
Enjoyed as always. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it
u buying for RE those tires ?? lol
Wow, it seems like it would take almost 12.000 miles in order to get them real flat, they will last a long time.
Thanks! This may have answered my question... Im not sure I have the skill to run this tire. I'm still a relatively new rider, and think that it's in my best interest to sacrifice some longevity for something more easily field repairable. I'll go back to doing research, with that in mind. It seems like you're gearing up for another epic trip, and I can't wait to see where the bike takes you. Happy trails!
I ran these on my GSA, they're fine, no better or worse than many other tires.
I had these tires on my CFR250L for over 3,000 miles and really liked them. The rear was great because it didn’t wear quickly and gave excellent traction on/off road. The front wasn’t so good but was still accessible. They definitely aren’t the best but for the price, I think they’re hard to beat.
Did you have any problems with the front being wobbly at highway speeds. I had a Dunlop d605 on the front before with no problem but I’ve balanced this one twice and it’s still unstable on the highway.
@@thepaytonsvideos My problem with the front was never speed wobble. In looser gravel and sand, it would wash out easily. Also, it became quite out of round as it wore down making for an imbalance that could not be fixed. It was okay when it was new but it got worse over time. I still liked the rear. I think a lot of our experiences with tires are dependent on our rising style and our local terrain. I think that's why there can be such wide opinions on tires.
I've been looking hard at these. They look cool, and seem to be giving you good service. I've heard they are a real bear to get on and off though... Which doesn't bode well for a backcountry flat. Your thoughts?
An excellent question and one that I also asked. I did a video about this back last fall but never posted it. I’ll see if I still have it and upload it for you.
Once you changed allot of tires by hand they really aren’t that bad
Good to see ya up and riding.I went riding for awhile this afternoon but winds of 38 mph took some of the fun out of it. Chuck Alva Ok
Hi Chuck, I do remember those Oklahoma winds. Riding season is about to kick in for me and I look forward to it. It’s always good to hear from you and keep both wheels down.
@@thepaytonsvideos I have enjoyed your videos so nice to see another mature rider still enjoying life. Blessings to you.
Wow... That's a bargain. I hope you put out a follow up video sometime about how it's working out for you. I'm interested for my Versys x300, as I'm sure I can find something comparable for my bike. Any adventures planned? Either by foot or two wheels?
Hi good to hear from you. Yes it looks like things are coming together for some motorcycle time similar to last year. Fingers crossed 😁 I hear the Versys is nice.
@@thepaytonsvideos nice. I thoroughly enjoyed following your trip last year, and hope you post videos of your next. I just started riding last year, and the versys is the only bike I've ever owned, but I think I made the right choice. The bike seems to be getting better with age. While nothing as grand as the SOTR, I still hope to get out and have an adventure of my own on it in June. Thanks for sharing!
Just bump into your channel, great content, already subscribe.
Awesome, thank you! Riding season is just around the corner. Yippee!
First one I've seen that started in alabama
Hi Tony, just noticed your comment. I planned on doing the whole thing but Covid got in the way then I went on a TAT adventure. Perhaps I’ll get back on it this spring.
Looks like fun
how many miles did you cover each day? so many questions......
I didn’t set a mileage goal and I didn’t keep up with it. I had some zero mileage days that I didn’t document to some really high mileage days with many hours in the saddle near the end.
Jon. really enjoyed your videos of theTAT, you and Stupid had some good times, I plan on taking basically the same exact trip this coming June Really enjoyed the laid back informative videos without all the music. Thanks. fellow biker Ed.
Hi Edward, thanks so much for the comment. I’m still finding grasshopper parts stuck in Stupid.
nice video, thanks for sharing, sometimes you might need to air down on tire pressure in deep sand
The handlebars went suddenly hard left and in a blink of an eye I was down. It was around a curve and downhill. There was allot of cattle in the area so I was cautious. I saw allot of tutorials for riding in sand when I got home because of this crash. Besides airing down tires, stand, keep your speed at 20 or more and letting off the throttle is the same as braking. I was guilty of all these. I had more camera problems after this crash than before with many missing audio and making clicking noises. But Wyoming was not through, putting me through the school of hard knocks yet. Thanks for watching and commenting.
another great video
Thanks for your encouragement.
great video, thanks for sharing
That was a memorable day. Thanks for the encouragement and for watching!
Thanks for making these! Planning a 90 mile section this winter and your videos were very helpful on what to expect.
I’m glad to help. I hoped you watched some of the cold weather videos. Winter is a great time to hike. Here is my advice. Leaves may hide obstacles and holes. It’s easy to slip on a wet rock hidden under leaves. Beware of hunters they are not supposed to hunt directly on the trail but I’ve met many doing just that so wear some orange. Hanging a bear bell on your pack to alert hunters may be a good idea. Weather can range from warm to rainy then windy and cold. Usually in that order. Hypothermia can sneak up on you and just drinking a hot coffee or even water helps snap you out of it. I always try to carry a couple of extra lightweight meals like Ramen noodles in case I have to hold up in a shelter to wait out a storm. That’s my 2 cents worth. Enjoy your trip and thanks for watching. JP
I’m the guy you met in Alva ok been watching you. Glad to see you made it back home safely. I did enjoy it 😊 Chuck Carson
Hi Chuck, I do remember you. I did make it home okay. It took me two days on the interstate to make it back home. I meant to do a summary video but never got around to it. I’m making changes and repairs to Stupid while I think about the next adventure. It is good to hear from you and I wish you and yours a great holiday season.
Hey Payton.. I'm starting your series from the beginning and am curious about what camera your using?
Hi Dan, Just older model GoPros. I shot most of the videos with a GoPro 6. I had a 5 mounted on the handlebars an 8 as a backup but it kept locking up. I had a 7 but lost it at a river crossing in TN near Tellico Plains. The 7 was the best of them and the 8 is so buggy that I stopped upgrading. I’m currently looking at other brands. I hope your rotator cuff surgery works out for you. I’ve had both mine done.
Payton please get rid of the debit card, go to a credit card it will protect you more. Enjoy your videos, keep up the great work.
@@bigstu3856 Thanks for the advice and encouragement. I’ve been doing maintenance on the bike and thinking of what’s next.
I'm really enjoying your video series...
Hi Dan, they are not nearly as good as yours. I stumbled upon one of your videos and that’s how I first learned about doing this so you were my inspiration. I’ve watched all of your motorcycle adventures and look forward to seeing more. Thanks J Payton
Thanks.. I really appreciate your kind words. Your videos are fine... it takes time and effort to put them out there as well. I look forward to see more...
I ran east to west close to your track but mine was all dirt. If you want my gpx let me know.

Ridein stupid enjoying Gods creation go man go
I’m trying thanks so much for the encouragement.
Stunning scenery! P.s my first camps recently via my Himalayan amazing how many creepy crawlies want in your tent!
Sawyer Permethrin sold in Walmart is the best option for clothing and gear. I’ve spent days in the woods without a single tick or chiigger. Nothing stops the black flies in New England that I know of except clothing and mosquito net. But they will still get in a cuff or any opening. They made for an interesting walk through Vermont.
@@thepaytonsvideos Thks for the tip re clothing!
Thanks for sharing this adventure. Im a new rider, and peobably wont be ready ro tackle the TAT for a couple years yet... But it's cool to watch along and daydream.
I’m not sure if I’m ready for the TAT. But it was mostly fun. I’m glad you are enjoying. I’m not very good at filming or editing. I think of it as home movies that everyone can watch. I’m certainly not trying to make money from it like some people. If you do ride the TAT be ready for roads that are gated, disappear into corn fields, or that just don’t exist anymore. I don’t think it’s been updated much in a long time.
@@thepaytonsvideos for what it's worth, I much prefer your presentation to the slick stuff you'd get from the Itchy Boots or Dan Becker types. You're right, this probably won't make you a household name, but I think that's the point of RUclips, or at least it used to be. I appreciate it. As far as the TAT goes... If it's not frustrating me and making me curse it out daily... It's probably not worth my time. I'm weird like that.
Thanks for posting 👍
Will you be doing full length videos of this trip?
The same way I have done backpacking videos in the past. Highlights of the day as some of it is just boring footage.
Looking great I admire you God bless
It’s a winner!
Thanks for the update. Glad the accident was not too bad. Hoping to get some riding in this weekend. Sorry to hear about the missing parts.
So many good roads and trails to ride around there. I love CB in all seasons. There are a ton of campsites on the other aide of Schofield Pasd
👍 Those hail storms can be rough. They can come out of no where and end just as fast. I got caught in a short hail storm on my way home from work on my bike a couple weeks ago. 👍
I only wore a t-shirt since I had to take off and install the back wheel. Cycle gear only puts the tire on the wheel for you. If I hadn’t managed to get under a bridge it would have been worse.
Follow your dream you are doing great
Very cool. Thanks for posting. 👍
Looking great continue to enjoy life
Looking good 👍

Thanks for Watching
I loved meeting you in Alva Ok😊
I believe the gentleman that helped you lift the bike was Moto Giant. I saw this on his channel too. Just found your channel. Looking forward to more motorcycle content?
I’m still out here doing it so more to come but it’s hard to edit and upload out here.
Apple says not good to mount iphones on motorcycle handlebars because the vibration will ruin them.
It’s an anti vibration mount so I hope not.
Ft Henry has some beautiful trails with unique features and a lot of history in the area. You should check it out. I have a video on my channel of me hiking some of the Ft Henry trails.
Just saw one of them. It makes me want to get back into the woods.
I really enjoyed this group of videos from LBL. It’s one of my favorites.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Enjoyed your video. I really love that area and plan to thru hike the North/South trail. I actually attempted a solo backpacking trip back in early spring ruclips.net/video/9rS1AUINw8c/видео.html
I'm enjoying the moto content you've been putting out there. Are you gearing up for a longer tour at some point? Multi day adventures? Thanks for sharing
Yes, multi day adventures are kind of my thing. I’m also thinking of doing some backpacking in the Smokies this fall. Maybe it will work out.
This is for my science project, to make the insulated cup. I appreciate it.
You are correct, that spot near morgan Cem. is a good camp spot. I have used it several times when turkey hunting. Build a tarp house and stay up to 14 days or so. But, there are no bears up there [day 4 video ]. Squirrels or mice may have chewed the post, but it wasn't bears.
Good to know. Gorgeous area and it was an enjoyable hike. I don’t remember the post you are referring to but it sounds like you are more familiar with the area than me. I watched a bear clawing a pole once in the Smoky Mountains and a nearby ranger said it was marking its territory. That’ll the extent of my bear scratches pole knowledge.
You Turkey hunting there this year?
@@fisheyeguy I want to, but am so old and out of shape I can barely do it. Went up there 2 yrs ago and stayed at Dixie Cabins. On last day when I got up to move I fell down and landed on my head. Gave me dain bamage.
@@oldblue7837 oh man I’m so sorry to hear that. I truly am. Only reason I asked is I just put in for the quota this year, hoping to get drawn.
@@fisheyeguy I got the notice that applications were opened, but I never apply for turkey hunt. Just go when nonquota opens. I have been hunting turkeys up there since '84. It was better when TVA ran it instead of TWRA.
