Creating armatures: How I measure and create armatures to achieve the correct proportions
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.Год назад
Hello! welcome to my channel! Armatures are something that I really struggled with when I first started needle felting, especially getting the right proportions and scaling. In this video I'll show you the easiest way to achieve correct proportions! (in my opinion). I really hope this video helps so that other felters don't have to struggle like I did! 💜 Thank you so much for watching! Facebook...
J'adore
So cute! Thank you!
your explanation is excellent, I can't wait to get started, thank you
Thank you so much! I hope you have a wonderful time creating!💕
What an excellent, well explained tutorial! I just started in January and this is the best I've found, AND you've made it simple and easy. Thank you, Chantelle, for sharing your process and for the diagrams on your FB page :) I can't wait to see what your latest mousey creations will be.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked the tutorial 🥺💜💜
On the print out you gave (thank you) the measurement on the neck says 4.5 but I am holding a ruler next to it and it is measuring 3.6. It must not have printed to scale.
Hmm that's odd, I've just double checked the original drawing and it's definitely measuring 4.5cm. I wouldn't worry too much about the armature lining up perfectly with the guide, as long as the written measurements are correct 🥰
I am so bad at conversions. In USA what gauge is 1.25 mm thick? I'm looking at a wire conversion chart and it says 1.024mm is 18 gauge. The closest I see on the chart to to the 0.6 you use is 0.6426mm, which is equivalent to 22 gauge wire. There are different types and that makes a difference in how pliable they are. 22 gauge Aluminum is more pliable (and less sturdy) as steel 20 gauge wire.
Hello! I'm afraid I'm not so great at conversions myself 🙈. But the gauges you mentioned do sound correct. The body and legs should be strong/sturdy. The smaller wire (0.6) is just used for the toes and tail and isn't a strong as the other wire. 🥰
What needle number and shape are you using for felting the core wool. What type of core wool are you using? Thank you in advance.
Hello! In this video I'm using a 38 gauge star needle. I also often use a 36 gauge triangular for core wool too 😊. The core wool is mixed breed slivers from simplyfelting.co.uk 💜
I m a beginner, these are the best, clearest videos I ve seen so far, thank you for sharing your art.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you like them! 🥰💜
I love your videos on the mouse. The tone of your voice is consistent, you’re not wordy like others I’ve watch.

Hi what is the core wall??
Hello, the core wool is wool that is more coarse and felts really easily. It's used to build up the main shapes of the body as its also typically cheaper to purchase ☺️. The core wool used in this video is from "Simply Felting" ❤️
This is the best explanation I have seen so far. Thank you so much!!!❤
Thank you so much for watching! I'm really glad you found this helpful!🥺🥰
Great tutorial.i'm a beginner and have learned a lot. thanks!

Thank you so much! Im glad you liked it! 🥺🥰
I’m quite new to needle felting, but I had a go at copying your mouse, though I didn’t have the exact wools. I found it very tricky, and I’m not sure I want to tackle another one at the moment. I think I need more practice on simpler animals. Good tutorial.Thankyou x
Ahh I'd definitely recommend working on some more simple pieces first, learning the basic shapes and simple armatures ☺️. I wish you all the best on your felting journey and I really hope you enjoy the craft! Xx
Great tutorial,thankyou

What gauge of wire?
Hello, unfortunately I'm not sure of the gauge, but the wire I most commonly use is 1.25mm thick galvanised garden wire :)
@@fuzziefiberart thank you I’ll see if it has those dimensions on the package
You really have a knack for making shapes and using them to form the sheep. For examples, the triangles to finish out the back legs. Fantastic! Well done
Thank you Karen!🥰☺️
A truly excellent tutorial. Thank you for your time and for sharing your knowledge. Your pieces are wonderful.
Thank you Vivienne, I'm glad you like the tutorial! 😊
Hi there, does it matter if you use matte or glossy mod podge? Love the video 😜
Hello! Nope, in this case is doesn't matter which you use as it's only used to secure and stiffen ☺️. I'm glad you like the video!💜

They are so cute. Thank you for the tutorial
Thank you! 💜
Great method - thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching!💜
Top tip, when working with black wool, use a felt sheet in a lighter shade so people can see what you’re working on. you can buy a large multi pack in various colours, then the used bit of felt can be used as a background in a 2D landscape picture because it will be covered over. also it keeps nice clean light coloured felting mats free from blacks and browns, hope this helps! love watching you create. where are you from? your accent is familiar. 😊 😊
Oo thank you, I never thought of this! My usual felting mat is a pure wool, lighter coloured one but it's seen better days 😅 ..hence using the foam mat in videos 🙈. But I'll definitely keep this in mind for future!💜 I'm currently living I'm Lincolnshire but originally from Doncaster 🤭
@@fuzziefiberart I kind of thought you were a Yorkshire Lass, I have relatives in Lincolnshire, about 9 miles from Boston or skeggy depending on the way you go. Take care, I’ll look forward to all your future videos. Keep up the great work you are putting out there. 🥰👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
