As a textile artist creating collages describing details of landscape my videos explore both creating artworks and their inspiration in the landscapes of Cornwall with their rich diversity of plants, rocks and water. I live and garden in a wooded valley near the Lands End. Wind-sculpted granite cliffs surround me on three sides and these together with the Atlantic ocean are huge influences on my art.
I graduated from Goldsmiths' College where I pioneered a technique for combining hand-dyed, light-reflective fabrics such as silks, satins and velvets to create artworks that shift and change, offering a fresh experience each time you see them.
An internationally successful artist I create artworks for public spaces as well as private clients and examples of my work can be found on my website amandarichardsonartist.com/ my Facebook page provides a daily update of my work AmandaRichardsonArtist as does plus.google.com/+AmandarichardsonartistTextileCollage

Mossy Banks of the Kennal River - Textile Collage
I live and work in Cornwall, which is the inspiration for much of my art. This textile collage celebrates the extraordinarily beautiful temperate rain forests, including those along the Kennal River. I visited in May when bluebells were in flower and ferns unfurling among a rich array of mosses. There had been heavy rain, and so the river crashed through the wooded valley. Both drama and serenity.

Sketchbooks of an Artist's Garden introduction
Просмотров 245Год назад
This is the introduction to a series of six sketchbooks that form a plein air portrait of my Cornish garden. I gave myself the time to stand and stare as I painted, with bees buzzing around me and birds singing. A year long experience I would recommend to anyone who wants to really appreciate the garden they have created.
Sketchbook 5 of an Artist's Garden High Summer

High summer and the butterflies are everywhere and the lilies are as tall as me. Turn a corner in the garden, a page of the sketchbook and more colour awaits.
Sketchbook 4 of an Artist's Garden Early Summer

By early summer the whole garden is full of glorious growth and flowering. This is a garden of wild exuberance and there is an a sense of exploring as I walk through.
Sketchbook 3 of an Artist's Garden Late Spring

My Cornish garden in this valley near the Land's End is perhaps at it's loveliest in late Spring. Trees, shrubs and bulbs are all putting forth and extravagance of bloom and the bees have woken up and are dining lavishly.
Sketchbook 2 of an Artist's Garden Early Spring

Spring comes early to Cornwall, it is our finest season and my garden is full of flowers. I filled two sketchbooks, of which this is the first.
Sketchbook 1 of an Artist's Garden Winter
Просмотров 47Год назад
In early winter I began a series of sketchbooks portraying my Cornish garden through the seasons. Although not sure if painting outside in winter was really possible, by choosing days that were both mild and calm, I found it delightful to spend so much time in my garden with the occasional bumble bee that had woken to enjoy the sunshine, and all the birds singing around me.
Concertina Sketchbook An Vellan Winter

The first sketchbook of my garden is complete; a portrait of the garden in winter. A garden is ever changing, and I have found it fascinating to capture moments before they pass. I hope you enjoy the result.
Three Artists in a Granite Landscape
Просмотров 1492 года назад
We three artists have lived and worked in the far west of Cornwall for most of our lives, and the exhibition focuses on a farm just above the cliffs, within sight of the Land's End. We have been invited by The North Cornwall Book Festival to show our art at St Endellion during the book festival this September 24th and 25th.
A Penwith Hedge in Art Sara Bevan Amanda Richardson

Artists Amanda Richardson and Sara Bevan were commissioned by Penwith Landscape Partnership to create a series of artworks celebrating a Cornish Hedge through the seasons. These Hedges, built of stone and soil, have a tradition millennia old. The one we selected, just above the cliffs near the Land's End, has a backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean. This was a fascinating project, culminating in an ex...
May

Explore this Cornish lane in May. A linear garden of wild flowers, cowparsley, bluebells and red campion. This is the glory of our county in early summer, translated into textile collage. The birds are singing, filling the air with all their different songs.
Painting Bluebells on the Ocean's Edge

Painting in the landscape is one of the most fun things I know. I do have the luxury of living in the far west of Cornwall, surrounded by magnificent cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean, which of course makes it more fun. These are the first Bluebells of the Spring. I was sheltered from the wind and as you can see, the sun was shining.
