I grew up during the “satanic panic” when the “conservatives “ were screaming listening to rock music meant you worshiped the devil . This is why gen x hated the GOP so much when we were young . I didn’t worship the devil , I just liked listening to metal , including GWAR. My buddie was into them back in the late 80s and I never heard of them as clearly GWAR didn’t get radio time . Anyway he said I just had to go with him to their concert. Holy shit , talk about a good time . David clearly was a good guy and loved to make people happy . GWAR put on a hell of a show ! baby boomers , they were trying to take our music from us then and now when I get on Facebook all I see is baby boomer music showing up in my news feed . The Beatles didn’t have shit on the “devil music” we listened to.

I met Dave when I was 19 years old in 1999. He was walking around outside of a Record Store that was hosting GWAR for an Autograph signing right across the street from the Venue they were set to preform at later that night. He was just as funny and incredibly nice in person as he was in this interview. We knew it was him immediately and he said: "You're not supposed to recognize me without my get up on!" He signed the white tshirt I was wearing to the show later and he asked me if already had a ticket, he wanted to make sure that we were going to the show that night. I had been a GWAR fan since I was 15 years old and I'll always be grateful that I actually talked to him for a few minutes and shook his hand. I took it pretty hard when he died. Rest In Peace Dave Brockie, thanks for sharing your art with us young punk thrashers. You are, and will always be missed🕯

I still have a picture of me and Dan liker up in Buena Park CA 1987 as nuclear assault stayed up at the house of the guitarist of phantasm! Katon pena of Hirax! Other band at the time. Dan even paid for my food up at the mall . And we all hung out at the beach until dawn, wild time's for 3days!! Anyways all thanks to katon pena of Hirax, phantasm, as I was friends with katon 💯💯

God I Miss Dave/Oderus... he was one of the coolest mofos ever to be born and walk this Earth, he was a far better man and musician and artist than most of us will ever know... Me included. I wish he was my dad

I knew of gwar when younger in mid 90s but was never a big fan or knew much bout them but went to a rock festival in mid 90s and they blew me away and became a fan instantly to this day I can barely remember who was all at that festival but I never forget the show gwar put on and was lucky enough to see them 3 more times rip dave u were one of a kind and did some of the best metal shows I ever saw

I saw Gwar for the scum dogs tour in Richmond va back when I was in teens. One the best shows I’ve seen! First you’re running from the blood…then it’s so hot you’re running to the blood. After the show we stopped at a hospital to use the bathroom, only thing open. We walked in and the lady thought we were in a car accident. As my kids know…maggots are falling like rain!
