DIY WASHING MACHINE FIX. Replace or bypass lid switch!
Просмотров 172 тыс.9 лет назад
If your washer stops working the lid switch may be the culprit. Testing this out before calling a repair man can save big bucks. Don't be shy, try a DIY!
Why dont you just place a screw or nail in the groove of the switch to keep it constantly on? Safer 😅
Thanks!
Do the plugs ever go bad? Not getting meter reading on either
OMGOSH, even though you posted this 9 years ago? It helped me fix my washer just now without a repair guy. Thank you thank you thank you! What an easy fix! now I just have to order the part, but I was able to finish my load!
Thank you!!
My Lid switch clicks, but when I check it with Multi-meter, it is discontinuous. So I took your advice and connected a small wire between the 1st and 3rd -non-Green Wires in that wire harnessing coming from the Control Board going to the Lid Sensor. It did not work. It restarted it at rinse, and filled up a little more than the level it was at, but the spin cycle it did not work and now still have water in my machine. What would look at from here?
I'm doing this! Stupid thing is driving me crazy. Tape it up when all done.
Got it got it got it got it.
Fixed mine...Kenmore Series 80...bypassed the switch for now. Thanks!
Could this mess up your controller board or start a fire? Thanks!
I almost buy a new washer machine, thank you for sharing that valuable knowledge🙏
Thanks for your help
Just like looking at the instructions after you put something together, I'm watching this after jumping the wire harness on my washer with a piece of 14g wire.
Try to make the video blurrier next time - if you can.
Can you tell me which one it’s better I buy a replacement part but the plastic that is made of it’s very cheap and low quality and I last for Less than 2 months I only pay 30 usd but it’s not fun just to buy it for 2 months are there is any brad you recommend or model That have better plastic quality
You’re the shit thanks just cut the wires and tied them together.
Thank you for posting this DIY trick!! Hubby and I bought a 2nd hand washer/dryer and the switch broke after the first trial run (fragile plastic). This was sooooo helpful and works like a charm - THANK YOU!!!!!
Thanks worked for me as well.
Finally, simple, perfect, easy. Thank you.
Kelmore wash will not come on .i ck outlet and braker box both ok. I has no light at all come on.
Thank you so very much for putting this on RUclips. I am a single mom and I went to the store and was able to buy the parts for $35 and it's saved me the Appliance housecall of $125 and I'm sure the part would have been much more. I really owe you thank you so much.
Thanks a ton! I had a load of laundry stuck in the washer. Knew enough to get the top of the machine off and get at that stupid switch. Bless corporate design and their little fiddly bits of plastic that snap at the first sight of strain. As I was doing the teardown, the little shit popped right out of the enclosure into my hand. I am perfectly ok with manually flipping the new, and vastly improved IMO, "lid lock" now and again... Thanks so much once again!
unplug from the wall first , but great vid ...
Thanks lot sir u saved me a new dryer bless u
Would changing the lid switch be the same for an Amana having a computer (Motherboard or something).
Awesome thank you!
What is the part called that fits into the lid switch? That particular part does not seat properly in the lid switch.
I replaced the switch and still no go! Any suggestions? Tia.
great video...I had the exact same problem....exact same machine...ya made my wife happy.. thank you
Thanks for the video, could anyone out there help. I have a Maytag washer with a bad lid switch. Do anyone know how to bypass a 4 wire lid switch? Red, blue yellow and white. Thanks in advance
Yahoo
My lid lock wires are red, white and blue. Does that quick fix still work ?
Do you have 2 whites with 1 going to green?plus a blue? Its a G.E. he model
Watched 99 stupid videos on fixing washers before finding this one. This was perfect btw - thorough.yet to the point with a variety of options. Excellent job! TYSM 🙌
David, thank you for the information. I was actually thinking of cutting the wires to the switch, but you just showed me I don't need to. Now I can bypass the switch until I get a new one. Thanks again.
Blessings bro. This video saved me $500
Thanks much. Can't wait to disable that darn switch. I am 67 and even as a child I was never dumb enough to stick my hand in to the washer when it was on the spin cycle!! Hard to believe anyone is that stupid but then they have alerts on strollers now a days to take the baby out of the stroller before folding it up! (NO KIDDING...they really have that printed on stollers!! )
so do you cut and splice together the gray and white or the gray and green wires?
Thank you for the tip 5 Minute fix
So connecting the wires will not cause a fire or blown circuit
Your just replicating a normal closed circuit. Everything is the same except no switch to open the circuit when lid is opened.
@@aaronsmith5433 thank you!!!!
Norm MacDonald fixes washers??

thanks bud good job!
Thank you for this video, I was able to get my washer running again thanks to you.🤝
Outstanding!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEO
Do you have venmo? I want to send you money as thanks for saving me so much! This fixed my Whirlpool model wtw5000dw1. Machine would flash "sensing" and click at the lock 4-5 times and not start. Diagnostic test said lid lock. I figured I needed a new lock assembly so I had nothing to lose opening the lock and removing this clip. Worked like a charm.
Thanks for the tip. I cut both the grey and white wires placed them together and bamn it began working.
how can i recongnize the wires that i have to jump?
the ground wire you can see is bolted to frame (it is green i the video) . Just connect the other two wires
Check the lid switch rubber bung. Take it off and try the machine. On my Kenmore the bung is a white rubber doughnut about a half inch in diameter and about 1/4 inch thickness and it is mounted on the lid. Trim the bung and there is a chance everything will now work. Use an ohmmeter to ensure that the circuit is being completed. I also used a screwdriver to hold the switch down. I put the machine to Spin. Pulled the on-off switch and it ran.
