We have been very impressed with both the teachers and faculty in Yorkville school districts. This may be in part because I don't send my child to school to be raised. I understand it is my responsibility to raise, help and when necessary discipline my child. The school is an educational resource, not a substitute for parental responsibility. One comment says there was not enough discipline in the schools, another suggest administrative punishment should be reported to the State as misconduct! It's not difficult to see why people, most of whom genuinely care about the students, can't take any action without some portion of the people getting upset. I hope the educators and faculty realize there is a large, but to often silent majority of parents that get this and respect you for the care and compassion you provide to our children and community. This is an honorable effort. They are clearly trying to reach and help those in need, hopefully this will inspire others to step in and do what they can as well, instead of becoming a forum for grievances and blame.

hmmm this is confusing... My son just started in early development and so far I thought everyone has gone out of their way to help him. But I will certainly keep a close eye out.

Yorkville School District has a long history of *not* caring about students who are struggling. Every single person I knew struggling with mental health issues were dismissed by teachers and administrators alike. Saying Yorkville cares is far off from the actions that the district has done thus far. There needs to be more care for individuals students struggles and ailments, a real, genuine understanding of the lives that individuals live. I know personally that I have only been put into worse situations through Yorkville's actions, and that the schools do not care about students, but only their own image. Most actions taken by D115 in the past have been to save face and to remove the school from trouble, the complete opposite of what you are promising. I have witnessed teachers and employees of the school not only dismiss struggling students, but actively hurting them through verbal degradation and administrative punishments. There are many faculty members from multiple schools in D115 that have a reputation for being so uncaring and ignorant, and that is a more honest indicator of the school's intentions than any scripted message. Not a single person should take this change seriously until you can make good on your word. Anyone who truly needs help should seek out professional care through therapy and psychiatry. Anyone with suicidal idealization and urges should reach out to the Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255. Any employee of D115 should be held accountable for their actions against students, and should be reported to both the administration as well as the Illinois State Board of Education at reportmisconduct@isbe.net
