I honestly think the best part of suit building is that the suit absolutely does NOT need to match at all. It needs contrast so that your patterns and colours pop against the others. A custom tailored suit is what you're wearing and refering to good sir. A suit is a suit regardless.

Artificial light is not by default necessarily warmer than natural light. Sunlight is quite cool in terms of color temperature yes, but candle light is quite warm. Artificial lights also come in a range of temperature these days

A well-executed comprehensive guide to black tie. Some things other "guides" miss that I'm glad you covered are the waist coverings and its place as evening dress. Evening dress has a refined elegance in that you don't see the waistband of your trousers as you would with daytime business wear and it just looks so much better at night! It's not until you see these rules being broken en masse that you see the genius behind these rules.

In the military, we had our dress uniform trousers hemmed on a slight slant. The front was a bit higher so that the crease just barely broke at the top of the shoe. The back was hemmed low enough to cover the top edge of the back of the shoe.
