Driving with Classic Touches Production Twin Stick
Bought mine a year ago and it works well, I like it!
Why?
Everyday while driving I get to pretend it's still 1976 and I don't have to deal with my ELD and emissions regulations. Just drive like the good old days.
cool bro! keep up the good work
Nice kit.
I don’t understand why everybody thinks that twin sticks are cool, I drove a 6 and 4 for years and it was a pain in the a$$! And yours isn’t even a true twin sticks it’s just a switch. All I can tell you is that after driving one and running heavy equipment for years is that it won’t seem very cool after you’ve had two shoulder surgeries and automatic transmission’s start looking pretty sweet! If it’s your own truck then I guess I can see but not really, bottom line it’s more of a distraction than anything. Be safe out there! 🇺🇸💪👊👍
I grew up with boxes. Just trying to recreate my Childhood with equipment that's not obsolete.
@@jaredcampbell4124 I get that, I’m pretty sure that for all of us those were the best times
Pussy Sticks. Try running the real thing in the mountains with no power steering.
I mean, who the hell is gonna believe that that's f****** a set of d*** boxes? There aint no way in hell.I mean it's
That's stupid
How is it stupid bozo?
I have been looking for a setup like this but all the other ones I have seen you have to cut a pretty big hole in the floor for the valve to sit this is a much better way to go in my opinion
Because it is minimally invasive you can mount it in your truck and if you get a new truck pull it out and mount it in your new truck.
awsome!!!!! thank you!
nice both video & backsong 👍🏼
Thank You
anytime.. u have good taste 👌🏼
That is so pointless.
All of my customers would disagree.
yeah i would know
Where do you find the old school steering wheel like that?
It is made by Steering Creations. The original wheels from the 60s & 70s were 22 inch diameter. Most new trucks are 18 inch diameter. Steering Creations calls this one "Retro Bone" it is 20 inch diameter. They make them a bunch of different colors now.
Where do I order it
Kits are available for purchase at classictouches.net
When you have more money than sence, why are you wearing mechanic gloves when your not working on dirty parts.
Where do I order this kit and how much is it ?
classictouches.net $1875.00
got it going thats the shit and the sound of the big rig 👍👍👍
Tell skidmore Superman says, 2 sticks a good touch in that classic that workin men workin 2 sticks know all to well about angels flyin’ low GREAT vid
On a 1241d the working gears are 2 and 3,, 1 is low,, 4 is direct the are not to be used in shift progression, just fyi
All of them that I've driven 4 was Overdrive. I've heard that 4th was direct in some. I always use 2-3-4 in the gear progression, only using 1 (Deap Under) to start out on a steep hill and/or very heavy load.
4 to 2 is ok too as you still touch both shafts during torque transfer, sorry not clear the (wear) mistake is using 3&4 using only one side of the box, on my 6x4 I can switch high position and maintain same speed in order to cool hot boxes with rotation, Love your stuff GREAT idea the 2 stick on modern transmissions, old school respect,, keepin the dream alive!! Great job!!
I am best friend with the owner of the truck.
It is a really cool old Truck
Yes it is
That's so gay. I'd like to see you shift a set of sticks behind a 318 Detroit.

Wannabe fake twin stick.
Easy to install... even he didn't look convinced of that statement...
The installation instruction video is on my RUclips channel. It's 28 minutes long. One customer told me it took 20 minutes to install.
If you want a twin stick to be authentic, make it that way. They're outdated and a complete pain in the butt, especially in heavy traffic. A modern, single stick 13 or 18 speed are much easier to operate and less cluttered than this mess.
Okay if you have a show truck, but there's a reason things changed for the better. I don't want anything to do with a twin stick while sitting in LA or NY traffic jams.
Haven't ever been to NY. But drove it out of LA in the late afternoon last week.
That's why you want 9× 4 all the low gears & high gears +simple shift , straight shift the 9 or drop the auxiliary for a 300 rpm split. What more can you want 39 gears.
So it's not an actual functional 2 stick...just looks it??
The twinstick kit replaces the air switches that were on the factory shift knob. It is still an 18 speed. It would take a lot more time and money to change out the 18 speed with a 5 and a 4.
I use bungee cord hooks, just close them up a little to fit in the hole where they wont blow out.
That usually works, but I lost a mud flap somewhere in Arizona in the middle of the night once with that method.
@@jaredcampbell4124 I work in the woods in N. Idaho, (logging, lowboy, chip truck etc) and have yet to lose one. I'm trying to talk my boss into a shifter for my 18spd on a 379 Pete. I have been doing 'favors' lately like, hauling logs, lowboying etc, away from my usual chip truck gig. I'm turning 59 on Monday and it's really starting to hurt my abused body. Every time I gotta go lowboy or haul logs I send him one of your videos, hopefully he'll clue in that I miss my twin sticks and let me 'go out' the way I came in, with 2 sticks! Hope to be ordering from you soon! 😁
I started driving over 50 years ago on my dadd 69 Peterbilt conventional with a 335 and 4 and 4 Drove 5 and 4 6 nd 4 but that was over 40 years ago I still miss two sticks But was amazed hiw much easier s 13 dpeed was...Now drove auto shift my have time changed
Still haven't driven an automatic. I'm always itching for a set of boxes, but this twinstick kit is a close second.
Well done
Thank You
In the market for a twin stick kit. The two other options are chrome shop mafia and spare time. Both are significantly cheaper, the spare time is about half the price. Is there an advantage to your kit vs. the competition?
I haven't had the opportunity to test the other in person. I've just watched video demonstrations. The three key advantages of the Classic Touches twinstick kit are: Authentic feel, it doesn't just look cool with the doors open at the truck show, it feels almost like driving a 5x4. The kit is complete, it includes everything you need, no additional purchase necessary, all mounting hardware, two shift knobs, the boot, all included. Adjustability and customizable, mount it where you want on the floor, position the top of the shifter right were you want it to be, use the included bent extension or recreate what ever Brownie shifter look makes you happiest. Thanks for your intrest. Call or text if you have any questions 801-477-6376.
It is also the easiest to install and least invasive.
You're gonna need a windshield wiper on the inside to go with your pretend sound effects! 🤣🤣🤣
I dried off the steering wheel after.
Probably should eat some vegetable instead of donut...
That's what my mom told me as well
That’s not a real two stick transmission you’re a wannabe driver
Yeah. I Wana be Driving a truck with two transmissions. Sadly those are becoming hard to find. This helps me relive the good old days at a fraction of the cost.
I was running heavy transport 66 R Mack w/18 speed quadraplex / n Cummins NTC350 . Ran some Pete’s and 5 n 4 and 6 n 4 brownings . The Mack is my favorite . I don’t blame u if this was my trk I’d do the same !
ABSOLUTELY----> AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!. 🙂
Thanks
The price of cool ain’t cheap,,,, and The price of cheap ain’t cool!!
I think it's a six-speed with a double high low you got high low on the big and then the vacuum or electronically actuated high low on the switch it is way different than the twin stick I grew up on
It is different than the 5 and a 4 that I grew up on as well. It is an 18 speed. The twinstick kit moves the 18 speed air switches that are built into the shift knob from the factory to the second stick. Now instead of pushing the little grey switch on n the knob forward and back to split each gear. I move the twinstick kit stick forward and back to split each gear. And instead of pulling up or pushing down on the black switch on the front of the shift knob to change between high and low range, I move the twinstick kit shift lever from the left side to the right side. Left is low range, right is high range. The kit is easy to install, easy and intuitive to get used to, and I get to pretend I'm driving a 5 and a 4 that I loved as a kid.
@@jaredcampbell4124 okay you explained it to me and I understand but I would rather have the old-school gearboxes word might be a fight to find the gear sometimes simplicity is always better but going back to where I learned in my childhood is way more nostalgic and I'm not a truck driver I have drove truck I've I know a little bit about flat bedding I can always tell if a load is secure and the dry van I won't say I know everything because I don't but when it comes to shifting your transmission I can figure it out cuz I was doing it 8 and 9 years old what most twenty-year-old or 30 year old and can't do today they might have their CDL but I bet donuts dollars I can out drive
I would love to have a real set of boxes. But they are becoming outmoded.
I'm just curious... Why?
I grew up driving boxes. There becoming outmoded. Just trying to relive my Childhood. And it's working!
@@jaredcampbell4124 That's as good as gold to me. Carry on sir, that's what life is all about.
BECAUSE HE CAN..
The older 13speed, I was taught to always split in the higher gear. When going up, change gear then split. When going down, split then change gear. Just as you demonstraighted.👍
I need one of those when I get my son his Peterbilt lol
Please, please, please have a KTA Cummins or a 3408 Cat under the hood !!!!!
3406b. It was originally a 3408 truck but the guy Ray sold it to blew up the V8. When we got it back it had the 3406
@@jaredcampbell4124 Right on, my boss's signature trucks are W900 L's. He still has a BUNCH, some have 3406 B's, some have 3406 E's , he's replaced all the K's and 08's as they've been burned up. Still has a few K's and O8's in some 5th wheel trucks and very few in the log trucks ( maybe 2) loggers. Sure a shame to see them go away after such a long and lustrous career. Greetings from N. Idaho.
AWESOME A-MODEL LARGECAR!!!!!!!😎🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊💎💙🤍🏆
I don't get it. What's the sense in bigger amount of sticks? As for me, one is more useful
It makes my new truck feel like the old trucks I learned to drive it. Brings back many fond memories.
The brownie shift pattern was as follows: 1 OD 2 DIR
Twin sticks have 20 forward gears not 18. I spent the first 11 yrs of my career in trucks with a 5and 4 or twin sticks. Can you name the gears in the brownie. We had specific names for each year in the brownie. That was good shifting on your part.
In a 5 and 4 you are correct 20 forward gears. The brownie has deep under, under, direct, and over. This my friend is an 18 speed. The twinstick kit that I manufacture and sell makes it look and feel like a 5 and a 4.
@@jaredcampbell4124 well now that's very cool. I know that 18 speeds are a heavy transmission but not nearly as heavy as twin boxes so that's a very cool idea. I figured with the way you were shifting the brownie that you had a progressive under and not a deep under. I see so many videos of people shifting 5 and 4 wrong or getting info wrong. So it's nice to see someone who knows there stuff.
@@davidhass6743nobody is forcing you to install this in your truck. Stop hating brother. It's no different than putting 359 headlights on a 379 or 389. This is simply for the cool factor.
F-it. Auto tranny all the way, baby! Had my share of 6+4 Spicer, Brownie, 9, 10, Super-10, 13, 15, and 18-speeds over the years. They all get in the way of my coffee drinking!
Maybe, while you’re converting things, you could reconfigure those air brake valves on the dash to a lever on the floor like an old fashioned parking brake.
I'm not that old. The oldest truck I've driven was 1963, with the 3 push in valves on the dash. I was hanging out with my dad when I saw your comment, he said that he remembers the lever style parking brake in the gas engine trucks and that you never trust the parking brake.
Really?
Very cool but years ago the reason for all the gears was the motors were smaller and a DRIVER had to work for a living.
Half the gd joy in driving is shifting two sticks the way my grand dad did
Um I’ll stick with my old 6-4 79A model 3408
