    Conor i'm like you, but its anxiety i suffer with mostly! I wish i could get up and talk all about it to people and tell them what the 'invisible' illness is really like to live with day in day out

    Strenght is the word that springs to mind here as I watched this interview. Such an amazing person to go from where he was to where he is now & to speak openly on national television is beyond inspirational for want of a better word. What I can't understand is why this video has only gotten 27,000 + hits? Best interview I have seen in ages! Wish it was longer...

    Amazing powerful and inspiring stuff. Really brings depression down to earth for a lot of people... Even the local GAA hero can be suffering

    You're still assuming people who have money aren't entitled to be depressed, or don't have the ability to. I will tell you that too much money can just as easily make things worse.. You're confusing things here.

    From the age of 14 and recently I have been receiving terrifying panic attacks especially related to agoraphobia which is a fear of open spaces but now they seem to come on regularly when I am at work. I have no medical card and my wage does not allow me to see a specialist. Im literally at my wits end with this, Im wondering is there any help out there that would put an end to this nightmare, I cannot cover these outrages costs for psychiatric help. If anyone has any information please comment

    we need more people like this to speak out.i was at the worst with anxiety it got to a stage where i was house bound and didnt want any interaction with people,i was like this for a couple of years.had tried many therapies but nothing worked. what it took was accepting how i felt instead of fighting it,standing up to fear,sound advice and lifestyle changes-strenuous exercise/diet.and here i am today immigrated to canada by myself and loving life!stand up to fear and give it a kick in the arse!

    What's with the questions and frankly why should I answer them to a total stranger on a online forum!.So you think the RTE presenters are concerned about the mental health of the Irish people?!. This requires a naivety which frankly beggars belief. Yes I do have qualifications in said field but hardly going to tell a total stranger on a online forum, some of us aren't that naive!.

  • @golaoi
    @golaoi 11 лет назад

    How do you know what the "elites" in RTE think? Do you read minds? You're talking about the best way to deal with mental health problems but what are your qualifications in this regard? Spouting off about an area in which, by the way you do, you appear to have little scientific knowledge of the topic is only making you look, well, foolish..Don't.

  • @Fratoue
    @Fratoue 11 лет назад

    Nice way to change the point I was making!. RTE is little more than a government propaganda wing plain and simple, if people really think they are concerned about the average working Joe in Ireland really does need to see a psychiatrist, the elites in RTE couldn't give a one solitary shit about depressed people.

  • @golaoi
    @golaoi 11 лет назад

    So you're a psychiatrist or a counsellor? Drugs are very successful for many, counselling for many and ECT for others. The drugs do not dull you down. They correct your brain chemistry. Counselling CAN do the same, but is useless for some people. I know 2 people for whom only ECT works.

  • @Fratoue
    @Fratoue 11 лет назад

    Money can't buy happiness but can make sure you're miserable in comfort- Woody Allen. Wealthy people have less to get depressed about than someone poor or struggling financially, for example a multi millionaire presenter in RTE who lives in a mansion in Dalkey or Foxrock and who drives a brand new car worth €35,000 has less reason to get depressed than someone who has €50 to their name and can't afford anything. Fairly simple logic don't know where you're getting confused.

    Outstanding conor, fair play to you, superb blog also. You are a real hero. This video needs to be shown in schools and clubs around the country.

  • @platinumdynamite

    I'm sorry, what? Depression doesn't discriminate, there are as many 'rich' people suffering from depression as there are anywhere else. Some people believe in medication, some don't. It's their choice/opinion.

  • @Fratoue
    @Fratoue 11 лет назад

    As if the multio millionaires in RTE give a shit about people being depressed living in their Foxrock mansions and driving brnad new cars totally oblivious to the hardships people have, see at the 5 minute mark Miriam barks at him that meds will work for people, sorry but talking pills to dull you down to accept the hand you were dealt is not the best way to deal with mental health problems.
