I had plans to put other stuff in this video. I just think this shot is so ironic. I travel to Detroit about once a month and have seen many abandoned factories, windowless apartment buildings, boarded up store fronts, houses left for dead... is this because people, like the ones in this photo, made Detroit a "Union Town"? Song: 'Detroit Ride' Band: 'The Sleepers' Please post your opinion. Than...

    Respect & love are not synonyms. Many will ask for respect in today's society, when they ONLY DESERVE civility. Much of the middle of this speech, is what today's reality is. And probably ACTUALLY has been for decades.

    "There is no surer way to destroy a man than when he is not allowed to show their true potential and work to the best of their abilities. [...]" THIS so much. This hits home hard. Okay folks, gather round, story time. I have time atm and this shit still bothers me to this day, 5 years later: I used to work for a company that sold First Aid to businesses, and I was the one to call the business beforehand and imply that they had asked *us* a year ago to contact them again now. I thought this was unnecessarily shady and manipulative and most business owners have a good memory - so that lie was a shit foundation for a business relationship. It was the dullest, most repetitive and unlikeable work. Every call was the same: Greet, lie, have customer get suspicious, get yelled at, optionally get told to never call again or else, het hung up on without goodbye. Call next number of some 2 man bureau op that had no need for First Aid products, lather, rinse, repeat ad nauseatum. You had the Yellow Pages in front of you and were supposed to dial every business in a post code one after the other. You were not to go home unless you had made 10 appointments for your assigned reps... and they didn't care whether you still sat there at 8 pm not reaching anyone anymore. 10 appointments were at least 3 too many if the rep was to properly show and tell the (fantastic) products. So I began simply researching the businesses in that postcode with Googling them. I didn't call where business sense didn't promise at least minimal potential. I made fewer appointments per day if the rep was to visit particularly big businesses that day. I asked for the mobile# of my rep to send him the complete annotated route for the next day (they'd normally just receive the addresses via email). I'd call him every morning to hype him up with what "specials of the day" were waiting for him. I'd call him after lunch to see how he was doing and I'd get his spirits up when the day hadn't gone too well. I began developing sales pitches for problematic customer groups together with him. My rep was blown away and happy and thankful beyond words for the support. I was the only "call bot" that received straight A's from his rep in every category (the next best caller had 2 A's out of 10). But most importantly, I *tripled* the total quarterly earnings of my rep compared to the same quarter last year. Him and me got rich with our concept, it wasn't even funny anymore. A week after that quarterly report, I was let go... at the END of my work day, of course. The reason: I was "obviously mentally incapable of following simple instructions" and was "consciously ignoring the obligatory guidelines".

    In 2015, Seattle-based Gravity Payments implemented a $70,000-per-year minimum wage, doubling the annual income of its lowest-paid employees. As of 2020, the company has expanded its business and is doing well. Now this isn't the same as the fictional Twentieth Century Motor Company's policy, and it probably wouldn't work for every company, but so far Gravity has proven its critics wrong. www.fastcompany.com/90477926/gravity-payments-is-expanding-its-70000-minimum-wage-from-seattle-to-idaho

I saw all three of the movies (I don't care some people didn't like them) I remember some of this from start of movie 3. Personally i wish they could do a one season show of Atlas Shrugged! We need a bigger amount of air time to really show the story.

    There's some r/K theory in here: the responsible didn't want to bring babies into this society and the irresponsible saw babies as a way to get more resources. These dysgenics create a society that can't maintain itself and has to collapse.

    Y'know the irony of this section of the book? It's all about men. I've worked in offices full of women, and _it's the same thing_. Women race to the bottom, to be the most in need of protection from their own work loads so that they can get through their workday exerting the least effort for the greatest reward.

    Most academics could not survive working in their fields in the real world. They produce nothing. Most have never produced anything. They cannot hardly produce a thinking graduate.

  • @ScrewMaga

    The fact, if it is a fact at all, that Rand's work is rejected by most of the "intellectual and academic community" gives her work even more weight. The so called "intellectuals and academics" running this country are destroying it.

    Those who were "for the people" came into power. They were incapable of producing and destroyed prosperity. "The people" got even poorer, though equally miserable. The ruling class lived like those they had formerly purported to hate. It is happening now, here.

  • @ScrewMaga
    @ScrewMaga 11 лет назад

    You are comparing apples and oranges. In modern times, classes are created and are not organic. People are placed into groups by those in power based on race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic class, gender, on and on we go. These divisions are used to divide for the purposes of control. Marx used class envy (bourgeois vs. proletariat) in his writing to stir up the "worker" against those capable of employing, inventing, and producing a la Occupy Wall Street. You miss the point.

  • @djkhaless

    I've got news for you... the consumers of goods and services always pay the taxes even if a billionaire pays them on paper. They are always passed to the final consumer. Where else would a billionaire get the money to pay the tax? Income taxes need to be gone. A flat sales tax is the only fair way to tax.

  • @ScrewMaga
    @ScrewMaga 11 лет назад

    Class structure is a Marxist construct. When one divides men by "class" then one forever imprisons men in those classes. The proletariat is forever the proletariat when you imagine there is such a thing. The ruling class simply changes hands, and then justifies itself in the name of the proletariat... living like kings whilst destroying any chance at all of a man creating the wealth to lift himself out of poverty.

    It already ran out The Orwellian police and looter state 1984/Atlas shrugged style regime is already firmly in place. The Republic died back in 1913 and we have been living on the fumes of the liberties it once protected and have now fully evaporated. This system will crumble and fall inevitably and hopefully a voluntarist society that allows communities to organize as they see fit emerges in it's place.

    Corporations used to compete fairly in a free market. There was no collusion with government to pass sneaky laws to squash competition. If you wanted to gain some of your competitors market share, you had to produce a better product at a lower price. It was a win-win for everyone willing to work to better themselves. No so today. Most big corporations have become corrupted by parasites in politics and Wall Street banking. They have infiltrated our government and converted it to a fascist state.

    If the love of money is evil, Jaykon, you have just stated a contradiction. You said that money is good, as it produced production. So the love of money is essentially the love of production. By saying the love of money is evil, you are saying that the love of production is evil. But, you have stated that production is moral, which brings you to a contradiction. If production is pure, so is greed. If greed is evil, so is production. Either-or. Personally, the first sounds better.
