Welcome back, 80s!
In the 80's I was a hard core heavy metaler but this band was one of only a few that us metalers appreciated cuz their music wasn't narcissistic drowning. They had kick ass lyrics & their music wasn't repaticious; as these guys all had musical backgrounds of the highest quality which meant that their music was musician quality not made up in the recording studio with machines fixing up the fact that a band can't sing or play their instruments plus this band wrote their own lyrics & music. Their singing wasn't fixed either and u could tell cuz in concert they sounded the same or better than the album versions of their songs; which is a mark of true professionalism that is the standard of whether a band is truly great or not! That's why heavy metalers enjoyed their music. We also appreciated their lyrics which spoke volumes on their genius as musicians & the words had meaning. They spoke on such subjects as people starving (live aid), porn industry (metalers luv T&A), countries that weren't good to their people(Save a Prayer 4me now), amnesty (Africa)& other issues important to promoting peace, kindness, love. Lastly they had the most beautiful conceptual videos ever! Sorry to go on but I wanted u2 know that this band had people of all musical tastes loving them & that never happens; especially in the 80's. It was heavy metalers & punk vs new wave & those NEVER mixed. If u liked heavy metal then u hated new wave. This band's live concerts were so great due to their music& lyrics, professionalism, stage presence & the fact that they were as good live as they were on the album or better cuz there was no lip syncing or recorded music enhancing (which is indicative of recording studio tricks)!!! Again, their music wasn't narcissistic drowning with no real substance! Thank u for listening!
