How to stop your graphite drawings smudging
Просмотров 9 тыс.9 месяцев назад
One of the questions I get asked the most is "How do I prevent my drawings from getting smudged" especially in sketchbooks, with all the paper rubbing up against itself. Today, I answer that question once and for all, and also give you some sketchbook drawing tips. I go over materials, techinques and things you can do both during and after you finish a drawing to stop it from smudging. Combine ...
Sketchbook Tour: find your art style + Pencil drawing timelapse
Просмотров 15 тыс.10 месяцев назад
Discovering your style or trying new styles can be very intimidating, in this video I open up my experimentation sketchbook and show you how exploring different mediums and subject matter can help you learn about yourself, what you like, and what you don't. Also included at the end 28:40 is a timelapse of a pencil drawing in my current style, depicting the subject matter that I'm the most inter...
Bloodmeat guitar

Sorry about the audio, I only just realized it's incredibly shitty, turn your bass down. This is a guitar cover of Bloodmeat by Protest The Hero. I learnt this song a while ago, but my sweep picking was pretty sloppy back then, and I only just decided to try it again. There are some obvious mistakes here and there, mostly me not remembering chords. Damn, strats aren't made for this stuff.
how do your pencil drawings not smudge the other page?
Do you just use a generic mechanical pencils or is it a special type ( like the kuru toga)?? Also what sketchbook do you use it looks really smooth?
Haha, I agree. Never understood why touching and rubbing.. Also, beautiful art!
I just use scratch paper and a number two school pencil. I don't have all these fancy expensive supplies 😭😭😭
Bro was going through his emo phase 😂❤
Trash taste theme song 😂❤❤❤
Thank you for this tutorial I have this problem since day 1
Hey mate can you do a Q and A question video one day ? I have heaps of questions
because touching is also part of experience
Pause💀
I can't believe I didn't see this video you posted 5 months ago. I will nevet forgive myself and all the gods are looking down at me with disappointment. I am being silly please forgive me my lord. I beg for mercy. Anyway........ it's a true pleasure to listen to you talk and I am also drawing at the same time. Can't wait to see more videos from you☺️ and forgive my silliness. I won't stop doing it but I am sorry😅🤣 I am Daniela btw. You know the one who's spamming all your posts with silly commens? Yes, I plan on doing it here as well😁
I totally agree feeling like an a hole while playing video games or watching shows lol always thinking I gotta draw. And hell yea Franklin booths book is amazing I got it last year so good. Thanks for the advice you’re an amazing artist!
Amazing artwork ^^
Good stuff 👏👏👏
So happy YT recommended this to me! I'm currently going through burnout, and haven't drawn in about a month, due to getting sick, and then a lot of holiday obligations. This might just be the kick in the pants I needed. Great channel, great art, and great words. I am looking forward to more. Quick question, what kind of mechanical pencil lead was that to get so dark? Very beautiful drawing!
Thanks so much! I'm just using a regular HB lead, I layer my strokes a lot so I can get it to go darker. I've got a video on how to avoid smudging where I go into this a little bit. Anyway, I hope you can get over your burnout and get back on the grind! January is a great time to start fresh :)
Nice work! I really enjoyed the talk and the timelaps! I always found that little day trips are my go to reset button :D Also Franklin Booth rules
Beautiful work really good stuff
I stumbled across your channel at a great time, your advice really resonated with me as I slowly pull myself out of a place of burnout so thank you. Plus your art is really amazing 🎉.

Your pencil rendering is fantastic! I've always wanted to layer pencil like you, Burt, Ruas and Coro. How does one begin to learn this?

These are great tips! ^_^
thank you!!
вау это очень круто
so hot right now
I actually started new sketchbook recently, and .. I started it from the middle, I was terrified to touch first page. I came here because I saw ur video on for you page, I was thinking okay let’s check it, I will see how ppl make beautiful sketchbook again BUT u actually gave me safe space! My sketchbooks look really similar (maybe more inks because I love it) but the mess is something what usually happens in my sketchbooks 😅 Probably I needed to see this type of sketchbook from someone else to actually start liking my sketchbook collection Thank you! I hope I will be less afraid about touching my sketchbook and just draw and have fun like you 😊
You need to post more and become an art influencer bc this stuff is most importantly very good. Also you have such a pleasant voice and relatively decent looking hands! Meant to be bro
Love to see an honest sketchbook!
very cool :3
amazing, very nice ❤😍 new friend
Nice drawing in there
Please make more, great art and great mindset! Post whatever!!
You got such amazing work in your sketchbook, so thank you for sharing your art! How did you learn the anatomy? Did you use artbooks or youtube? I try to work on my anatomy and would be very gratefull if you could share your anatomy tips or routines Thanks anyways!
Thanks so much! I did anatomy in a few different steps. First I put a lot of time into learning to draw the simplified mannequin of the figure. Books like Figure Drawing design and invention by michael hampton and Figure drawing for all its worth by andrew loomis helped a lot at this level. After that, I got into learning the actual muscles, Scott Eaton's "anatomy for artists" course is great, also Artistic anatomy book by paul richer. I also got the premium anatomy course by proko because the 3D models really help to understand the exact origins and insertions of the muslces. Finally, after I had a decent grasp on everything, I went through the Morpho books by michel lauricella, these books have hundreds of plates of the muscles in different squashed and stretched poses, so they're great if you already know anatomy but want to understand how to draw the muscles in lots of different poses and situations. I know that sounds really complicated! But take it one step at a time, and even if you don't get into the advanced anatomy side of things, you should be fine just putting lots of time into the basic mannequin shapes.
I am in love with everything you do and I trully wish more people will discover you. Big fan big fan. I can't wait to see more videos and posts from you so I can spam you😆🔥❤️
😭❤big love
Fire🔥🔥🔥. You can sing and draw really well. I'm amazed🔥🔥🔥🔥
amazing sketchbook and really inspiring! <3 if you remember the artist name you're talking about at 23:13 please drop it in the comments :D i absolutely love the experimentation that it sparked!
Thanks so much, glad you liked it. The artist I was talking about was George Pratt, the specific video I mentioned was his course called "Comics I: Intro to Sequential Art" on new masters academy. I can't say I recommend it specifically as a course, because more than teach he goes through his older work and sketchbooks talking about what he did and what he was thinking. But it's really great to have on in the background while you draw!
Very cool. Would love to see the other sketchbook as well!
Thank you! The other sketchbook I showed still has some blank pages in it but I'll be making a sketchbook tour of it for sure when I finish it!
Amazing vídeo i cant wait for Next vídeos ❤ I would like to see that old sketches that you use for experimenting and give tips to draw from imagination or how do you create that amazing characters with armor or mystical creatures😊
Thanks! I'll make some more sketchbook tours going through older work and I'll do some videos talking about drawing from imagination too, I appreciate your interest :)
is this all drawn from imagination ?
Not all of it! Most of it is, some of the figure studies are from reference, and sometimes when I'm doing a longer drawing and I'm stuck I might go and find out what something is supposed to look like. But mostly these are from imagination in this book, it was more about experimenting and challenging myself.
Great video! I enjoyed it very much! What tip would you give us to keep the following sheets clean when drawing a work?
Thank you! Happy you liked it. If you use an HB or harder pencil, especially if it's mechanical and not wood it's not gonna smudge as much. You can also use spray fixative after you've finished to keep it clean or use wax paper between sheets so they don't smudge onto each other. I've had a lot of people ask me about this so I'll make a video explaining a few different methods more in depth!
I’ve been searching for an artist that inspires me with their style and I found you :0, I’m def subscribing. My eyes have been blessed 😂
Thanks so much, what a beautiful compliment :)
nice sketchbook keep it up
Your drawings are crazy good!!
Thank you! :)
super cool seeing all the sketches!
thanks elo :)
