i do like it's unique flashiness, however, it is adding something that shouldn't be there; it's too ciricus-y. Yes, it's supposed to be strange and upbeat, but the idea is that's it's this business and this club and this performance that's supposed to start in a certain way.. THEN grow increasingly strange in it's beautifully offputting demeanor. I feel like making them look like cartoon characters like this takes away the attention from the story/meaning of the musical, and more to the musical itself (if that makes sense)- thus doing the literal OPPOSITE purpose of Cabaret; snding a message of the wartimes and what we're suppsed to be seeing beyond the makeup and characters. It's hard to do that when you're making their weird quirky characters into actual oompa loompas- just like how I didn't like the Hobbit because of what they did to the dwarves; you're right, they're not supposed to be "normal" looking, but essentially making fun of them with these ridiculous names & physical features isn't creating the correct image of them that they deserve. It's what makes Alan's Emcee so interesting- it's this almost.. slithery weird, yet still oddly alive character that gives you some whimplash now and then and the original movie version; that unsettlingness. Did i like the song in this vid? Uh,- hell yeah! I love how it sounds and it's an awesome take on Willkommen, but it's this overall idea that they're bringing to life that just isn't.. IT.

I'm glad this production is doing well but for me, it is too far removed from the more traditional versions that are a stand out on their own and don't need spin or something new and fresh as it were.

Exactly how Sally should be portrayed. Non-theatre folks only know the romanticized Film version of this story and not the intention of the actual book.

From the awful approximation of a German accent to the obscene caricature of Sally - who inexplicably goes in and out of a cockney accent (which completely negates the entire point that Sally has absolutely no need to be in Germany) this has got to be the worst version I've ever seen of this.

Wow. Couldn't really tell how good her acting was in Heartstopper due to the role, but this has told me all I need to know. Outstanding. The whole emotional story told through her eyes. Fantastic performance from her and the pianist who matches her at every turn.
