XTU 844 Dome Security Camera Overview
😭
Great video. Would really like to see the data on electricity usage/cost and what that breakdown is from just running the AC unit to now you’re needing to use the AC unit less and the effect that the attic fan has that as well as the cost of electricity! Also not sure if you have a video on it or not, but what is home assistant?
Appreciate that! I was also thinking the same thing. I have an energy monitor and was curious if I could find any data on that. Unfortunately don’t have data prior to installation so would have to do a specific test to see how much kWh it’s using. Home assistant is an open source project for monitoring smart home devices in a central location, you can find here: www.home-assistant.io I can only assume it’s saving cost (cost of running attic fan offsetting the amount of time my Mini Split compressor is running)
Nice video. Appreciate your temp analysis post installation. Installed one of these in my house (1200 sq ft single story) a couple of years ago. Here in the pacific northwest it gets quite hot in the summer (105 this week!) and this unit is exceptional. Even though my roof and walls are insulated, I could feel the difference immediately. In the afternoon my AC would struggle to keep the house under 75. I could feel the thermal boundary layer with my hand over my head as it creeped down on hot afternoons. This unit completely eliminated the heat buildup. Absolutely love the app and how I can control the automatic temp activation settings. A bit of tweaking to match our climate and it is bulletproof. I hard mounted the unit to my gable vent as you did and get a bit of rumbling telegraphing through my house frame when on high, so am considering a rubber strip under the mounting flange. Curious if you experience the same issue (although it is minor)? Thanks for posting this.
Hey thanks for chiming in with your experience. Glad to hear we were probably seeing similar issues. As far as the rumbling goes, my unit ended up coming with rubber “feet” to go between the wood and the metal screw areas if that makes sense. I didn’t end up highlighting them in this video unfortunately, but that could resolve your issue? When it is on high I can hear a slight humming in the second floor from the attic but nothing distracting or vibrating. Maybe you could get some rubber stripping from Home Depot or something and put it in between the wood and feet? Hope this helps!
Great video! How are you finding the turntable after using it for a few weeks? I’m looking at purchasing one of these for my first TT as well.
Thanks! I really appreciate it. I really have been liking it. I do notice that when I have it hooked up to the speakers and they are “on” prior to turning on the turntable, you will hear a “pop” upon pushing the button in the back and when you lift and close the lid you might hear some interference. This is something a few people spoke about in reviews, something about re-wiring the pre-amp can avoid these things. Other than that, no complaints. It’s been great, sounds good.
Are there any power usage stats of the machine running at idle vs full load? Thanks for the video!
Hey thanks for watching! I’m glad so many people found interest in this process. I did have it hooked up to a kill-a-watt and now it’s on a UPS. I never wrote down the numbers, but if I remember correctly it was in the low 100-200 watts. Sorry that I can’t recall exactly! I just checked my UPS and it’s running right now at ~130w with multiple other rack mounted devices. So it’s probably idling under 100 watts at the moment.
@@WarnerDiscovers ~100w at idle is quite a lot for the relatively low end performance of that CPU (by modern standards). I am on a journey to build a budget Ryzen 5 or Core i5 level system with consumer hardware in the same Inwin chassis you are using. Not sure if it is possible or feasible but you’ve given me a lot to consider. My goal is to eventually build a “cheap” and low power Proxmox cluster for home lab use for things like Pihole, Home Assistant, etc. Thanks again!
Sorry, but it already looks dry!
No worries, I can promise you it wasn’t! I used this same method in the toaster oven with my oil bottles too, works great even around 200f
@@WarnerDiscovers Ok. Tx.
Do they have fixed the EQ forget issue?Mine couldn't remember my custom profiles
Not sure unfortunately. I’m assuming that’s within the FiiO specific app? I don’t use the app unless trying to upgrade the firmware
@@WarnerDiscovers thanks..
What’s the weirdly shaped rubber that sits directly behind the cradle for??
That’s to hold the corners of your phone. Sort of a fail safe backup in case it loses friction / pressure on the clamp
Gotcha, thanks!
When I find these 3 pin fans are too loud, I usually connect them straight to the 5V rail on the PSU and connect only the speed signal to the motherboard to prevent fan errors. Those Noctua low noise adapters are designed with the load of the Noctua fans in mind, so in my experience, the resistor inside gets very hot and burns out in time. Buying proper PWM fans was definitely the right way to go.
Hey thanks for the feedback and suggestions! Glad to hear I went down the right route with the proper PWM fans. It seemed to be the right step to take at the time and glad I did rather than mess with the adapters.
Nice one. I think the RAM in the first setup blocked a lot of air flow, which ramped those fans way up. Swapping the RAM for low profile sticks might have quieted things down. The second setup is a lot cleaner, but probably a lot more expensive. And you ended up not converting the desktop to a 1U server, you tried different ways to populate a 1U chassis. Really nice project though, you might be able to get it near inaudible with another set of fans. Four of those at 1400 rpm and you're wondering if it's running at all. The empty space next to the drive looks like a perfect fit for a quad 2.5"- or dual 3.5" drive housing. That board probably has an on-board sas controller. With a couple of cheap 10TB sas drives off eBay, you can squeeze a fast faux NAS in there (or a Plex server). Looking forward to the following iterations. Why stick to 1U? You've got plenty of space in that rack. A 2U adds so much breathing room. Or just lose the lid on a 1U and go for it.
Thanks for watching! Yeah it definitely was a consideration that the ram was blocking the fans. I noticed this in some of the more "server" mobo style boards that took this into better consideration. The first fans I had didn't have PWM and only had 3 pin so there was no mobo control for the fan speed so that had to run at 100% unfortunately. Yeah the second converted setup was definitely the way to go with the new Mobo but you're right turned out more expensive. I'm glad I ended up going that route anyway in the end. Much cleaner / neater and end up learning a lot in the process. I've been monitoring the temps for the past month or so and they seem to be good with the two for now thankfully! I was poking around with SAS drives and it potentially might, good idea. The reason I went with 1U is because I was planning on converting my seperate NAS over to a 1U as well. With this, my top rack is completely full now. I have another rack underneath that is 4U, but the last 2U that I have available I already have a plan for, so was sort of restricted unless I swap out the racks and remount a bigger one, but I don't think I'll end up doing all that.
Great video! Small suggestion: always look for a motherboard where the memory memory modules are 90° so they won't block your cooling, that way you could use some 5k RPM PWM fans and get almost silent operation
Thanks!
did you think about using one of those 1u blower fan that blows the air side ways out of the case? and why a 3TB drive? what the use case of this 1u system?
Yeah, I end up utilizing the Dynatron K2 later in the video which sounds like you’re describing. Just a personal server running some docker containers and home assistant and such.
Good job fitting all this in the small space.
Thanks!
Just a thought: I think the cpu cooler does not make sense in this setup, as its just going to blow at the roof of the case. A heatsink would make more sense and then heat is sucked out by the case fans in the back. Maybe im missing something
Pretty much. You only see CPU coolers in 4U racks. And sometimes not even that. Just larger heatsinks and intake fans.
Thankfully the second CPU cooler I ended up installing, the Dynatron K2 is moreso specifically made for 1U cases. It blows out the side / rear of the heatsink since the top is covered and it all gets sucked out the back from the rear fans. Take a look at the image of it here: www.dynatron.co/product-page/k2 I also have been monitoring the temperatures for the past week or so and they’ve been keeping down really well
Looking at where the I/O plate goes, you could've probably used a sheet of metal or mesh with the correct cutouts for the ports and screwed that from the inside.
Ah yes mesh I like this idea.
Yeah definitely could have customized something like that. I noticed one or two things online I potentially could have bought then cut out. Some of the other 1U cases on Amazon also came with customizable I/O shields which I wish this one did! Fortunately the new mobo I got had an I/O shield that fit the case perfectly.
You're a life saver mate! Thank you!!!
Happy it helped!
What size receiver would I need for 2 8in ceiling speakers?
Hey there, sorry for the delay. Right now I’m powering each pair with a system that provides 79w per speaker. It looks like the maximum capacity for these speakers would be 100w. But, you can power them with any receiver or powering unit that provides audio to some speakers. Not sure what the minimum would be. Hope this helps!
Thanks for this video! New to HA. This video was helpful for me in setting up my water leak dectors.
0:33 I'd also searched unsuccessfully for the Linkind LS21001/A001082 Zigbee water leak sensor for several months and got the following response upon reaching out to the manufacturer: "we are sorry that we no longer sell this product and it has been removed from Amazon." 😢 I just got some Third Reality 3RWS18BZ sensors which I'll be setting up with the Home Assistant ZHA integration. I'll also be using a shim (Thingiverse 5359525) to extend the screws on some of the sensors.
Dang, thanks for checking this and good to know! Thankfully these have been working well so far.
How do the covers go on and off? Magnets, friction?
Friction, you can pop them out easily with access on the back while uninstalled but once they're in the ceiling you need a tiny tool or blade to get it out. A bit of a pain if you want to take off the covers after install.
Hey, did you have any issues with the vibrations? Kind regards
Nothing so far, haven't had to adjust the mount since putting it on there. I don't ride super often though so YMMV
Thanks! Just ordered the Stem mount and noticed it does not fit on the sv 😅. Ubolt is on its way.
They are $30 now. Lol
Actually you’re supposed to leave it sit and cool for a while.
Thanks. I believe that was their gen10 and now (in 2023) they also have a gen12 with a round connector harder to snap off.
You didn’t even shake it all the way 🤦♂️ this video is so bad
🤘 'promosm'
Awesome review! Although hope this stays around now since its ruined the regular Oreos for you 😉
You look like an Oreo
It is Is unbelievable that you didn't take the stuffing off of one and slap it on top of another 1
Thanks for the video are you still happy with it?
You're welcome! Hope it is helpful. I've only been able to use it with one zone so far, but planning on implementing more this year. I mainly have been using it for Spotify and it's been working well for me. I don't switch the sources that often, but may when I get a new zone in my office. Some of the software I hope will be improved over time but it's been pretty quiet over the holidays. Let me know if you have any other questions!
You gotta air fry it. 8 mins at 400 and they are the flakey and perfect.
awesome, I am about to purchase one of these, I've been looking into them for the last few weeks, Kind of funny you just made a video and released it yesterday. I hope it will support RUclips Music in the future. That is probably the main service I want to use it for. if not I may have to just connect a computer or tablet running youtube music to an analog input and do it that way.
Hey glad it helped! Yeah I noticed there wasn't much out there for video on it so was happy to get something out for others. Definitely go to their forums / discourse and suggest RUclips Music if its not already there. Not sure if YT allows APIs to connect through it and whatnot but worth requesting. Good backup solution though. Or a headless chromecast or something with audio pulling via HDMI to analog
Stoked about the return of warner discovers!!
Use olive oil instead of Pam since that has chemicals in it
hi
what is They’re only three comments like Bruh😂 😂😂😂😅😊❤
Hey great video. Thanks. I was wondering if a dense ball was normal and mine looks pretty much the same! Thanks !
Sorry for the delay in response! Glad it was helpful! I'm sure whatever you got is probably fine, definitely don't overthink it! If you might think it could be a bit too hard, try a little more water
🤣
What app did you use to control camera please
Sorry, it was a specific Android app it specified in the manual. Definitely not the greatest app. I don't have access to the manual anymore
Add 1/4 cup sugar and 1tsp vanilla flavoring to 1 gallon of water. Use a whisk to mix, then pour into container (I would use glass if available) refrigerate over night. You can also turn that into cold or hot chocolate milk/Cocoa. You can also make your own vanilla flavoring with vodka (and I think vanilla beans). You will have to look the flavoring up. That will last for eternity (or, until you have to barter for some spam!😋😉 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️ God Bless
No real useful info provided on setup
I ordered these for my incoming Tesla and is it me or the material that the item is kinda looks like when you cut your hair and touch your hair and see all the small hairs I don’t know if that’s for the life of the item or just for a bit I did use a lint remover I feel like I got most of it out but if anyone can elaborate more plz and thank you.
Yeah it's definitely a strange material
Unavailable on Amazon :(
Dang yeah, not sure why it got taken off Amazon. Very strange

Utws 3 died after about 3 months, me dont buy anyone of fiio products, where to buy say sent in china🤣
Yeah I guess you could run into issues like this unfortunately. Has been good for so far for both UTWS1 and UTWS5
My utws3 are about a year old and are still working great unfortunately I work in a bakery and the mic has gotten lots of flour in them. Considering the utws5.
Got a UTWS3 for 45 bucks in a sale earlier this month. Hope it lasts.
Do they slide in/out? Or does it just stand on the rests. Thinking of buying it for my M3.
The one under your elbow you gotta take out to get underneath. But the front one you can slide forward to access stuff underneath 👍🏻 they both just sort of sit in their place, nothing fancy. Worth it imo
Does the case support wireless charging?
Sorry about the delay! Yeah! It actually does, I finally got around to trying it and it lit up on my Qi charger I have for my phone. Good call
Thank you for review. Did you able to connect it with Windows and microphone was working, right? Because my mic for Fiio BTR5 is not working with Windows, only with smartphone.
I've used it on Windows / Mac. Not with the microphone though, on Windows just as headphones. Mac has been iffy with the mic. When I use my phone, the microphone has still been problematic unfortunately
Do these have transparency mode?
Not that I'm aware of unfortunately
they do now with a recent firmware update apparently
