Thank you so much for this video! I bought a juicy couture shade tent today that is like this one and could not get it folded back up. I was about to give up but your video was super helpful!
We are glad you found this helpful
7-1/4 by 2-1/4, perfect, just what I needed for doing the trim, Thank you!
We are glad it worked out for you.
Wtf is it with people using dr gloves to work on cars these days 🙃
Those are the gloves that I had on hand. My wife likes silky, smooth skin next to hers. Good gloves help reduce the mass at the end of the day.
Did you use the glory ridge trail to get there?
We finished the trip on 1N64A off from 1N09 from Angelus Oaks
My 2003 TJ makes a whirling sound when I let off the clutch but goes away when I depress. Would this be the Thow out bearing or input shaft bearing?
That sounds like a throw out bearing to me. Good luck
I recently left my jeep out in the rain for about a week, when i went to crank it it squeals like crazy. It's a high pitched squeal like a belt, but gets worse when the clutch is applied. It was totally normal before this. Any suggestions?
It could be the throw out bearing, but hard to tell right off. Can you put a few more miles on it and see if it goes off the charts, or starts to settle down. It could be just a little rust on the clutch plate. Kind of like wet brake disc. If it goes away after 5-6 miles of stop and go, shifting type traffic it is probably superficial rust.
The bad bearing will squeal like a pig. Or just kind of grind.
@@jayfitzgerald7423 will do! I uploaded a short of it idling in neutral while one of my guys pumped the clutch if that helps. I have only driven it 7 miles since it started, just hoping for the best.
@@Diggin-off-the-side Good luck, I look forward to hearing good news.
Take off in 3rd gear?!🙄 Great video but don't do this. Hard on the clutch, transmission, and engine. I have had 2 TJ 4.0s now, and these engines really aren't happy to be loaded under 1500rpm. If you are under 1500rpm and engine under load, you can hear the engine knocking, sounds terrible. I always start in 1st, best for car and clutchlife too. If you were doing a downhill start 2nd maybe...
Yeah, That is my test to see if the clutch is holding up. And, yes I normally start up in first gear, running 33's it is a good idea to start low. If you can't take off in 3rd then plan on a clutch as well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. And good luck with your rides.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. you rock! Just finished. Looks factory. I watched a bunch of guys mangle their pillar covers then found your video. I also have a 2005 LJ. love it.
You are very welcome. Happy Wheeling, LJ is so much more Jeep than the TJ. The exrta 10" works wonders.
A must watch if you are installing these grab bars! I appreciate the tip to use a 1" hole saw versus the recommended 1.5". It made for less tolerance but I was able to hit it right on the spot so it makes a better finished look. It was a little tricky getting the pillar molding snapped back in. Thanks Jay for putting this video together!
Dave, thank you for your encouragement, and you are welcome. Hand on tight and keep it right side up.
Funny thing...other than the challenge of getting the pillar molding snapped back in there, it took me about 10 minutes to get my roll bar cover zipped back up. A little WD40 and help from the wife really helped! @@jayfitzgerald7423
I'm having the same problem I think. Lose pedal (definitely less pressure) and squeals when I press in and out. Not sure if whole clutch is cashed or just throw out bearing. How did you know it was ONLY the throwout bearing?
To test the clutch put the jeep in low gear and try to start off easy. See how it goes. Now put it in second gear and try the same. If the clutch slips in second or third gear the clutch is bad. If the jeep stalls out then the clutch is good and is holding up well.
Question, while replacing my throwout bearing I noticed the “output shaft” from the transmission that the flange and bearing ride resides on wobbles just a little bit. Not a lot, but it deflects a little bit. Is that normal? No leaks or anything but has deflection/wobble just a bit.
It is normal to have some, up, down, left and right play at the end of the shaft. There is a needle bearing in the clutch housing the shaft rides in that straightens it all out one assembled. My centering bearing was in good shape so I did not replace it. I bought one to have on hand, the are only $10 or so. You can clean the junk out of the bearing and put a little bit of grease on it. Basically a wet finger of grease, no more, because that grease will work its way to the fly wheel and clutch plate if you put too much. Good luck. and Thanks for watching
@@jayfitzgerald7423 thank you so much for the advice! Dang, I hope I didn’t put to much now. I appreciate you Sir, very much. Thank you.
Worked out absolutely perfect on my 2005 Wrangler X ! Thanks for one of the most concise videos I have used !
You’re welcome. I’m glad I could assist you with this project.
Thank you so much for taking the time to film this, I truly appreciate it. Question for you, when you put the transfer case back in, is permatex or a gasket required between the transmission and transfer case?
There’s no gasket between the transfer case and the transmission. It’s a dry seal shaft to shaft. Thank you for your question. I hope this helps.
@@jayfitzgerald7423 it does thank you so much. Great video!
Finally a video that shows cutting the pillar for the grab bar for later model TJs, already did it myself prior to seeing the video but appreciate it none the less.
Thank you for your positive feedback
Awesome video the measurements were a god send .worked a treat on my 2006 TJ many thanks 👍
Thank you for your positive feedback, and I’m glad it worked with your TJ
This is by far the cleanest and most clear instructions on how to install these. I am going to follow this video to the letter when I install mine....SO SO CLEAN
Thanks for your feedback and good luck.
Nicely done and well-narrated
Thanks

How’s it holding up after extended use? Anything you would change?
I sold the Jeep last year. But it worked great while I was running it.

I love that Trish is such a willing participant
Finally I got around installing my grab handles, had them for a few months. I did exactly as your video. Worked out perfect. THANK YOU!
Great to hear!
What about the mount that is right in the center of the radiator? Mine rusted and I broke a bolt and have to start from scratch...was hoping to see that one.
Todd, I spent a little time up north and have had to deal with rust for 50 years. There is never an easy fix for rusted hardware. Without the winch on the YJ I can see some of the nut for the center mount. I guess it would be best to shoot some penetrating juice on the nut and bolt before you take it apart. But once you break it your best bet is to drill it out from below with a smaller bit and then try to drill out the remaining 1/2 bolt. Good luck.
Oh I’m gonna cheat and pull my grill,
great video
Thanks!
You are very welcome.
Very helpful video! Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
This probably the most informative instructions on how to precisely cut the pillar molding and install a grab handle on my 2005 TJ. I can’t thank you enough for making this video.
Glad it was helpful!
This is a great site! Was this a yellow post off the actual yellow post camping road or just an off shoot? I didn’t see a fire pit
This is an offshoot of the yellow post camping. There was a make-shift fire pit, I am not a big fan of campfire is SoCal so we always use a stove. It was a nice place to hang out for a night. Great views and cool breezes.
@@jayfitzgerald7423 great! Thank you for the reply. Are there a lot of offshoots on the way through? I’d hate to have all the yellow posts taken after a drive up and be stuck with no other easy options
hi how your day
Pretty Good, We were up there earlier this week, most of the winter snow it gone once again. Fun in the mud now.
Can we big game hunting around this area? Or the “ hunting around” just a name?
I am not familiar with the hunting in this area. It is a popular outdoor area near Big Bear.
Great looking jeep ! Upper and lower control arms is definitely the way to go. Nice work ! I'm in to see what you do in 2021. I supersub'd which means if I can click it I did ! Look at what we are doing sometime.
Finally got the fender flares on. Yup gotta publish the video. Thanks for the encouragement.
Looks great! LET'S are awesome!
Thanks, Time to play in the snow now.
Great grab bars. I put something very similar on my YJ. Love them.
