Sorry to say that but Sheeran is well known for copying other artist songs. He is not gonna win that case. I am pretty sure all of his songs are copycat of other songs. It is difficult to prove that kind of things in court and it is a lot of time and money consumed in the process. Most of the artists don't start copyright lawsuit because of that. In this case the song is so popular it worth a lawsuit. One of the most known copycat artists are the Beach boys. They deserve to all go in jail for what they have done. LoL

if you actually put them in the same key they'd sound almost the same, but you compared them in 2 different keys, which obviously sounds horrendous.

They are the same, melodically,harmonically. Sheeran's Photograph has infringed, no doubt about it. My credentials are that I'm a published songwriter, jazz composer, I have songs aired on over 200 radio stations world wide, have five publishing contracts currently. Those who are arguing that the settlement was too large, that may be true, but whatever Sheeran agrees to is on him, not us, and the only relevant fact is that he is agreeing to a settlement and that the song, indeed, has infringed. What Sheeran should have done is contact X factor, and propose a derivative work, crediting the original authors, and working out a sharing of the proceeds. Photograph is a beautiful derivative of Amazing, and, in my view, should be allowed to exist, but only with consent from the copyright owners of the work from which it is derived. That would have been the right thing to do and I fault Sheeran for not doing this, and for this fact, I am deeply disappointed in him.

Look, here me out, I'm a total sheerio and have his latest album, but I have to say that Ed probably ripped off the other song. But we have to consider that Ed Sheeran's "Photograph" is a more popular song and I hadn't even heard of "Amazing" or the artist until now. I believe Ed was in the wrong on this occasion, but he put it right again by paying a copyright lawsuit of £15M out of the over the top demanded payment of £20M. This is just my personal opinion and I would just LOVE to hear your thoughts on the matter! So comment below whether you agree with me, are on another side or are just about in between!
