2024 Outstanding Young Scientist Award Recipient: Dr. John Wu
Dr. Wu has pioneered the use of astronomical machine learning algorithms to extract information from large galaxy surveys and simulated cosmological volumes.
His previous work has shown the convolutional neural networks can capture the complex relationships between galaxy morphologies and their physical properties. Using these methods, Dr. Wu has helped identify and confirm the largest ever sample of nearby low-mass galaxy candidates, many of which orbit around more massive host galaxies. The properties and spatial distributions of these satellite systems are vital for testing theoretical models of galaxy formation and evolution.

2024 Outstanding Young Engineer Award Recipient: Dr. Hannah Zierden
Просмотров 1023 месяца назад
Professor Zierden has a rare combination of expertise in engineering, microbiology, and developmental biology that, together, have contributed to her dogma-disrupting work identifying risk factors for placental diseases and creating next generation nanotherapeutics for the prevention of preterm birth. Leading an interdisciplinary team of graduate and undergraduate students, she aims to fundamen...
2023 Outstanding Young Scientist Award Recipient: You Zhou, Ph.D.
Просмотров 163Год назад
Professor Zhou leads an interdisciplinary research group focused on investigating and leveraging the quantum behaviors of electrons and ions in solids to design materials with enhanced functionalities. The group’s ultimate goal is to precisely manipulate these particles at the quantum level to create new applications in electronics, optics, and energy. Through their research, Professor Zhou has...
2023 Outstanding Young Engineer Award Recipient: Jeffrey Boye
Просмотров 209Год назад
Jeffrey Boye has designed hardware currently orbiting the sun (on the Parker Solar Probe mission), a computer that impacted an asteroid (on the Double Asteroid Redirect Test), a navigation processor that will one day fly around the surface of Saturn’s moon, Titan (on the Dragonfly mission), as well as an innovative approach to modular spacecraft computing design (RADSoM). Jeff’s career has been...

Liquid Nitrogen-so cool, it's like magic!

Rapidly cooled by liquid nitrogen, these balloons shrink as the air molecules filling them contact. Pop the balloons back out of the beaker and they begin to expand as the gas molecules warm.

MSC Explains: Refraction
Просмотров 23Год назад
Light naturally travels in a straight path, but things like prisms, lenses, and even our own eyes can bed light. This is called refraction, and it's just what we're going to show you in this MSC Explains.
I wanna try it😻
Nice
Hi! Is there any information you might have on an animated film that was shown there in the '70s, on the same screen as "Evolution", called "More"? It was about overconsumption, with various examples, and ended with the earth balling itself up into a wad, then a hand reached out of space, picked up the earth and threw it in a trash can, with the words "NO MORE" appearing on the screen. I've been trying to track down the film, and thought I might find a copy or at least some information on the internet, but I can't find a thing. I'm dying to find it. It scared the bejeezus out of me as a kid.
How do I do this where’s the tutorial
That's my neighbor! She no longer works there! Think she got fired for some type of behavior! IDK. But she used to be real nice to me and my family but now she totally ignores us god knows why! Kinda why I'm guessing that's how she got fired! At one point she actually took us on a tour here when I was probably 7!😲😮
Super congrats, You!
I put peeps into my freezer. God speed, peeps, your frostbite will not be in vein.
how do u make it spin
Can't believe it's been 10 years since this video was done. Fun day!!!!
Naaaaa. Go big and use a sword. The mold seem is a weak spot that you can cleanly remove the top with a gentle swipe. (obviously the glass left behind is wicked sharp, pour don’t drink from this edge)
ρɾσɱσʂɱ 😍
Thx for teaching me!
Wait bois, imma make it!
😂
“Explain how to make” Step 1: look at the box Boom your done it’s self explanatory
Interesante...
what is he doing but it was pretty asome poping the ballons
is the pear cam really able to put enough force on the circle follower roller to make it spin? havent tried it yet but you would think a thin cardboard circle wouldnt be able to rotate another thin cardboard circle just by contact. i thought i would have needed a gear shape
Can u explain how to make it
cool
sad
An interesting video, but for some reason there are few views. Have you tried to promote video through services like Utify.io?. t7
Loved this video... very informative
How did your smoke alarm and or sprinklers not activate?!?!? So cool. I kinda wanna try this!!!!

1st View, yay! I love science and i love this place and i come to the Maryland Science Center almost all the time. Keep going with your amazing experiments and work! Lov u guys... #Science #LetsScienceSummer
Nice But I can hardly see the Dominos fall. It would be a lot better with close up shots.
I live in LA in the San Fernando Valley and would love to be part of your glass paint research. I want to put up a steel roof this fall and would love to have the steel painted with your glass paint. It could be part of the trial.
