Thankyou, we do tend to look at everything long and hard and see what is the best way for us going forward. I love my raised beds, we have a lot of moles so wired the bottoms of them so I grow the majority of my root veg in them, its working great, and thankyou for joining us on our journey, much appreciated :)

Hi, and welcome to our channel, yes it probably will, just after we bought prices started to rocket. Yes we brought the fire from the UK, we found it on FB market place at a bargain price of £100, the flues we brought too, again, off marketplace. :)

We sit on a plateau on the side of the mountain which is great it means we get the lovely flat terraces and a fantastic view down the valley :)

Hi, Thankyou for commenting, we believe so, not a lot of farms have olive trees up here but we thought we would give them a try anyway. We planted 6 young trees last year and had a harvest of 6 this year, not kilos, just 6 olives! lol but they seem happy enough so we may plant more this year and see how we go 🙂

It amazes us the craftsmanship that goes into even the terrace walls, huge rocks built and chocked up with tiny infills, how did they do that hundreds of years ago with no mechanical assistance. Rob, did some Yorkshire dry stone walling back in the UK and its nothing up to what the guys did here! They churches and castles here just take it up another level! :)

Rob is jack of a trades and applies common sense to everything, 12 coats of "looking at" that drives me insane as i would just do it but it works out in the end. We after 3 years looking & deals falling through we found exactly what we wanted.. & suited us perfectly.. have to be very patient & took 7 months.. but we Livin . Located 15 mins in a small village of 7 , all acreages from Figueiro dos vinhos .. 30 mins from Coimbra . 12-18 month plan before full time .. Been thinking about a big van for trips .. any issues with boarder through France Spain & into Portugal ? .

We did 4 trips in a Luton van, Dover to Calais and back drove the non toll roads down to Portugal we got stopped twice in Calais customs, as soon as they saw it was household goods just let us through, rest of the journey no problem at all. If you need any info on anything else just give us a shout and we would be glad to help, advice where we can 🙂

Thankyou for your comments, yes lots of work to do, we will be doing it all ourselves so a long term project :) It is a single skin flu on that part, the rest to go out of the wall and up to the cowl is double skin, one in the bag for Rob then! lol What do you mean by "black" sounds like the best thing to do?

@@PlanitPortugal Stove blacking is like a polish you wipe on cast iron with a rag, or you can brush it on - usually after wire brushing the metal first. It leaves the old cast iron looking fresh and black again, and hides any rust stains. The eventual colour is actually a dark charcoal grey.

Yes but good news today, we were about to cut down an old pear tree that got burnt in the fires, when we noticed new buds! Proceeded to give a good prune and hope the old boy thrives. 🥰

Hi, Thankyou for your comments and questions, 3 years of paperwork included preparing to leave our jobs, getting ready for drawing down our pensions, trying to sell everything we didn't want to take and buying things we would need once we moved and giving up or rented house. The paper work for the D7 visa, collating it submitting it and eventually getting the thumbs up took around 8 months. The main house is large granite stones, the garage is block built but will be rendered and painted and a new tile roof eventually, we do have a large barn attached to the house at the back that will receive the same renovation as the garage. Yes we have water, we have a stream to the back of the house and we have a year round water mine, its beautiful spring water as we have no farming or homes above us. We have started a back story on Facebook if you would like to see our story so far :) P.S. Its a beautiful place you should come and explore it.
