This video was super helpful. I did the wiring exactly like the video with the red wires connected to the black wires and everything worked out perfectly. I did want to also make sure that this is safe to do? I know some people said that it might not be the best option but it worked. Any feedback would be great! Thanks again for this video. Just installed this in my mom's 2008 RAV 4. Pretty much exactly how you described it. Great install video. A local installer was quoting me $150/hr for approximatley 4-5 hrs work. With your video I got it done in about 3 hrs. Thank you for your guidance.

Installed this a few years ago and have always intermittent issue with camera saying “No Can” and lags for the first few seconds and then works normal. Then sometimes camera won’t work at all. Any ideas?

You lost me on the wiring after you installed the camera...red/black, extra wire (black single strand)--not used? Couldn't tell what you connected with the red wire on the right side. I have a Rav 4 Limited 2010 and would love to do this. Does the new radio have Sirius XM because my Rav 4 does stock?

Great video however I have a few questions. Did this Rav 4 have an OEM back-up camera built in the rear view mirror & if so, what did you do with it? It appears that you did not use a dash kit? Also, did you connect the steering controls (assuming this vehicle has it).

I just received my RCD 330 today and installed it on my 2012 VW Jetta TSI. The installation process took me around 3 hours, including setting up the parking camera. Everything went smoothly, and I'm thrilled with the results! Nice video.

Hey! Great video! My installation was a little different, but I still got a lot of great tips from this video. Just want to leave this comment for people who are still struggling with getting their back up cam going after trying the method on this video. For the black and red wires that powers the camera. I had to route the red wire and connect it to the reverse light power (positive cable). And the black wire you can either route and connect to the negative cable on the reverse light OR you can actually wrap it around a metal bolt on the inside back door. The black wire just needs to be attached to metal. I also had to route the Orange trigger wire (the small one attached to the yellow video cable near your trunk) and connect to the red wire. So to iterate, you can merge the red and small orange wire together, then use a connector to connect it with an additional red wire to the reverse light wire (the positive one-most likely will be black, coming out of the reverse light bulb. Essentially my camera needed power (which is what the black and red cable provided. Like a battery on a car, the red wire provided that positive charge by connecting to the reverse light positive cable. And the black wire attached to a metal bolt provided the negative charge). However, that will just power the camera, it won’t tell your camera it needs to appear on screen while in reverse. That’s what the small Orange trigger wire is for. When you connect it to the positive red cable, the charge triggers the camera feed while the car is in reverse. So just a little differences with wiring from my recent experience. Again though. Great video!! Just wanted to leave the tip in case others are struggling where I did. Thanks!
