2012 Chevy Equinox code P0442- small evap leak!
One of the most misdiagnosed check engine lights is EVAP codes. Most people feel a new gas cap will fix the light. In some cases, they are correct! if you are going to install a new gas cap, buy one from your dealer and use only the OEM part. However, a lot of people, including mechanics, will install parts without a proper diagnosis. To properly diagnose the car, you'll want to have a proper scanner and a smoke machine.
This suv came to us after another shop replaced the gas cap and the purge solenoid. The engine light came back on, at which point the customer brought us the suv for proper diagnosis and repair.
We first scanned the suv and found code P0442. After reviewing the code and s...

2015 Ford F150 Battery relearn when installing a new battery
Просмотров 40 тыс.3 года назад
Newer vehicles require a relearn procedure when installing a new battery. As the old battery wears out the alternator will increase its output to compensate. This can damage your new battery, alternator or electrical components once a new battery is installed. This makes it difficult for the do it yourself person. I get over 80k miles on my Lexus RX330 pads and rotors which cost me about $600. Going to replace them with POWERSTOP Z36 which cost me about $400. Fingers crossed I get at least 80k miles on them... hoping for 100k!!!

I have more time then money so I do my own brakes. I'm slow, takes me a long time so a professional is more efficient. But for 250 dollars in parts, I can use premiums Akebono parts and do both axles vs 700 dollars if I paid a pro. But........ if I had the money I would pay a pro to save time.

@Keychain-vm9tj Thank you. I really need to make more. The shop has just been so busy I haven't dedicated the time to it. I appreciate your comment, and I will spend some time making new content. In all reality. I only made it because my website designer wanted me to show people how we install brakes on our customers' cars. I had no idea it would get so many views, likes, and comments.

A brake job is fairly easy with basic tools. The exception is on the rear brakes for some cars requires the ODBII computer hookup to retract the parking brake portion of the caliper. VW/Audi are good examples of this.

Upon getting a brake job quote from Kia I had asked if the new replacement rotors were OEM, they said no. They typically just purchase rotors from AutoZone. Of course, I don't know how much better Kia's OEM rotors are compared to AutoZone's, probably not much, it was just surprising to me. Not to mention their job would have been almost $300 more than going to a local brake shop who's more concerned with using quality parts and charging a more reasonable price.

I am very grateful that you showed exactly what the equinox 2012 chassis looks like and how to locate a small leak using a smoke machine and an estimated repair cost .
