I was really happy to see you did some follow up videos on this thing - I really value coverage of a device that talks about some of the downsides, too. Very informative, thank you!
Thank you for the review! I'm weighing up whether or not I'll get one, and most of the other video perspectives out there feel a little, uh. Corporate? I appreciate that you show off the actual function of the device and talk about how you're intending to use it like a person.
Loved Pale Fire! This was a well researched video, it just came up on my recommended
I use Scrivener. Best for my needs.
Excellent! I'm loving it also. Thanks for stopping by!
i've been an ipad user for more than 10 years, now I have the remarkable 2, remarkable pro and kindle scribe. I'm astonished to see how people are really trying hard to avoid apple products by these really low tech devices. These e-inks are so slow, having extremely dimmed screen. Yes people can be focused and less distracted, but at least remarkable can improve their screen and crank up the speed of their devices.
Totally valid point brotha. I hear you. Just to clarify, I’m just saying that the remarkable is helpful for me bc it’s not as addicting, but in no way am I saying it can replace a laptop or Apple/PC device entirely. In fact, I do a critique of the shortcomings of the new remarkable paper pro in another vid. You bring up several great points here-thank you for watching!
Taking notes on an iPad is just a heresy.
Nice
10:56
have u been using the software a lot? being able to view notes live on mac is a big selling point 4 me
idk if i should cop an ipad for this
Good point! I still use it but I put it down for a while. I have now switched to a PC but I still think the remarkable cloud connectivity offers a lot. When it comes to this stuff I think just research & do what works for you - I can’t give you advice but good luck in finding the right tech!
Great video! Amazing, real review.
Thank you so much
Your videos are so amazing. ❤
Thank you kindly for watching!
Why is the thumbs down button disabled? That's not a good sign for a channel. Enjoyed the video. Thank you.
Weird, I’m not sure 🤷🏻♀️. Thanks for letting me know though & thank you for watching.
MacBooks are the best laptops
The display is not like boox tablets at all. You really should try first
I should try it, you’re right. In the video I do try to explain that the color is very different from the Boox and show an example. Thank you for watching!
I gave my old phone to my nephew. I made him a child's account and installed family link both on his and my phone (both android, family link is android feature). I've blocked playstore, chrome and disabled everything else. The only thing he can go on is camera and maths apps for school, no RUclips (as of yet). I have granular control over how long he can go on on any app. how long in a day he can go on the phone and what time he can go on the phone. It's not really a phone anymore but a gadget for his maths apps and any other school apps he'll get. You could do similar thing on apple devices. If you don't want to be distracted, create a childs account for your ipad and set up your macbook as parent account and lock your childs account from everything except your productive tools. Technology is smart, you can do what you want with it
Well said. I think that’s a great idea and I should do that. I am coming to understand that the tech doesn’t control our choices and we can use it as a tool in a conscious way. Thanks for watching.
and it looks like this was recorded on the new front facing camera of the iPad Pro/ iPad Air :O
It was recorded on the MS Surface
"It felt like a really big iPhone...". Exactly. A Mini or base iPad or maybe an Air are very nice for content consumption, but I have never understood the Pro iPads. Fantasic hardware held back by an mobile OS that's far inferior to that on a Mac.
Well said
The magic of the Microsoft Surface is it is truly a 2-in-1. Tablet and laptop in one. Battery life is nowhere near as good as Apple products, though.
Great feedback-I just picked one up and I’m finding the same! Thanks for watching.
You should have just bought a Mac, the iPad isn’t made for what you are doing. Also using something like onedrive might make the file management system way better for you
It's tough to imagine who the iPad Pro was made for, frankly - aside from artists who use Wacom tablets I guess.
I am testing out some Microsoft products - totally agree. So far, so good.
This is a great point rbs
@@RoastBeefSandwich well it’s an iPad and a drawing tablet. However, most creative suite programs lack a bunch of features compared to the same programs on Mac or windows. It’s more of a sidekick to the Mac with pen compatibility rather than a full replacement
@@RoastBeefSandwichi personally use it as an in between my iPhone 14pro and a full fledged pc desktop. Mostly use it as media consumption home or when I’m traveling. I used to have a MacBook pro but it only collected dust.
All i hear is a ranting woman over something she cant buy. NOBODY CARES about people that does not want apple. If you dont like it dont buy it.
Then why you here? 🤨
I found that really interesting. I’m in three camps with tech, Windows, Apple, and offline things like the reMarkable and good old pen and paper (to which I’m addicted). As both a writer and photographer, I see tech as tools to help me get the job done. Anything that gets out of the way and lets me focus on work is key. I think one aspect of Apple products that draws me is the focus on privacy. Apple is far less likely to sell my data on to other companies than Microsoft or Google (mainly because they want it all to themselves! 🤣). But the main thing I want out of any product is reliability. My iPad Pro has so far been bulletproof, whereas my Windows PC has had a fair few issues over the years. I’ve fixed them all, but that’s time away from work, which isn’t ideal. I agree with what you said in some of your other videos about the remarkable. It’s a great device to help focus the mind on what you’re doing. Reading through a manuscript and being able to jot down notes and edits is fantastic, and sometimes far faster than doing the same thing on a pc or iPad. Plus the biggest benefit is that it can give you a different view of what you’re working on. Staring at the same layout of your manuscript on the laptop screen makes it easy to skip over mistakes. Switch that out to a different device, like the reMarkable, and our minds look at it with fresh eyes. I think that I’ll always have a variety of different tech, from Windows and Apple, to pen and paper, mainly because I pick tools to help me get work done. In the end that’s the only reason I’m buying the devices. Every job has a perfect tool, as the old saying goes.
Totally agree with your sentiments and I think that’s a great strategy you have. Every tool does serve a unique purpose and it’s up to us to figure out what combination or choice works. The remarkable is great for exactly the reason you’re saying - just having any different way to view a manuscript helps so much! Thanks for watching some of these videos and I appreciate the comment.
@@YvesThePoetNo problem. I’m always on the lookout for good content to watch. 👍👌
Thank you for the video, really informative for me as a fellow writer. I was wondering: would a cheaper iPad (like the Air or the regular one) make you reconsider using Apple, or is that not an option because you prefer leaving Apple’s ecosystem anyway?
That’s a great Q! I’ve personally decided to give windows products a try, almost as a challenge / experiment - so I don’t think a cheaper iPad would make me reconsider at this point, but it could down the line. I think the interface/iOS isn’t doing it for me as a daily driver. That said, if cost was the only factor at play, that would be a very viable solution. Thanks for watching. ✍🏼
❤
💖
Only purchase of my life on this device where i never feel regret to loose or waste my money on ....Thanks to creators god bless them millions
I’m glad the remarkable is serving you well! Thanks for watching.

Amazing, easy to follow. Real! Thanks
Thank you very much! 🖤
“No one uses laptops” - what are all those people doing who buy all those laptops from Apple doing with them? Are they doorstops? Table wedges? Table mats? Or did you just mean “I’ve replaced my Apple laptop with an iPad”?
RUclips LOVES hyperbole
Lamy just came out with a safari-style pen for Ipads. So you might wanna check that out.
Oh no way! I will, thank you
This video has almost 8000 views, while your other videos have few hundred. I feel ashamed to be a man.
Interesting. I had the 13 inch Pro and my screed kept freezing as well. I went back to the 11 inch and no issues.
Interesting! Yeah I thought it was such a weird glitch. Glad you got things worked out on the 11!
I bought the Remarkable 2 back then because I was studying privately to become a dangerous goods officer. I can remember things better when I write them down and have as few distractions as possible. In itself, this actually worked quite well, but it always bothered me that I absolutely couldn't study in bed. The bedside lamp blinded me from the side and the full bedroom light bothered my girlfriend. I also always liked using highlighters to memorize specific passages. Unfortunately, this was only possible to a limited extent on the RM2 because everything could only be shaded. Later, I bought the Typefolio because I could type much faster than I could write by hand, and the idea of typing most of it and then highlighting it and adding handwritten comments and summaries seemed good. But the display was too small to be able to make proper footnotes on it. Unfortunately, I didn't get on so well with the small keyboard either; it was very unusual that it had almost no border and the shift keys were so tiny. Because of the high cost of training and because there were no vacancies in the company for dangerous goods officers, I never attended the courses and never took the exam. However, a position will be available next year and I want to start learning again where I left off, and the very points that bothered me back then have been eliminated on the Paper Pro. I think it was a good investment to buy the new version, even if I still have to wait 3-4 weeks for delivery... I will definitely continue to use the RM2 because I still like the device very much. But I think the Paper Pro will largely replace it as a daily companion.
Congrats on your new ipad
@@fahadiftikhar1 Thank you Fahad, it was only a test run.

@@YvesThePoet Now I am paranoid I won't like it, and my iPad 6th gen helped me through high school, I loved the ipad because I loved drawing and taking notes, I bought the M4 13 inch 1tb, I haven't upgraded since the 6th gen, I recently ordered mine and been slowly growing with fear about it since I did engrave it so return will be trick, I am going back to College soon to finish my Pych and business degree, hopefully, it will be as helpful to me as my old ipad through 5th grade to high school, wish me luck o7.
But to be fair I did run my ipad air 2 through hell, ran a sever, drew, recorded, edited, note taking, writing, so hopefully this will be a big step up o7.
Do not upgrade your m4 iPad to ios 18 until ios 18.1 . The upgrade has messed up the battery on my m4, which drains from a full charge to zero under no time
Super good to know, thank you. That’s wild
@@YvesThePoet it's being reported that it's bricking m4s too
@@toan.2764 wild
I have the M4 base 11". Running 18.0 and no problems here. I wonder if it's app or configuration related. Knocking on wood now.

I forgot to tell you. You have a Remarkable 100 day full refund guaranty. What is stopping you? And make for us a RUclips comparison review RM2 vs RMPPro for your use case !!!
This is great news! I will definitely consider doing a review now. Thank you
great story.. my first rm2 is in the way
Nice choice, have fun with it!
@@YvesThePoet it is arrived, never get something faster
The only reason I want a new 'paper-like' tablet is the weak performance of RM2...I got my RM2 only few days and I love it but it's really annoying that the lag every time I zoom in or out a note
The lag time bothers me too. It’s otherwise excellent, but that can be bothersome. It’s not a replacement for a laptop or iPad that’s for sure. Good luck with your R2 and/or any paper tablets you choose to try out - & thanks for watching!
good review - I agree and returned mine as well. the device is nicely done, but I didn't really want/need color but welcomed it. In the end it is heavier, darker, back-light is bluer vs white so too many downsides. Flicker is annoying too. The Folio is far improved but that is not enough for me.
It’s very helpful to hear from someone who tried it out for a bit. This all makes sense - seems like the intent with the product was there but follow through maybe lacking. Either way I hope you find the perfect product for you.
Fair enough video. You don’t need to own both to make a comparison or to suggest that it’s not needed.
Appreciate that, thank you for watching
Emm, not good to give an opinion without even owning one. Go get one and try first.
It’s not a review, Andy, it’s a first look. Thanks for stopping by! 💫
is it just me, or the LAMY has less lagging compared to the reMarkable marker plus?
I haven’t tried the new marker plus, so I’d be interested to hear what people have to say! I love using the lamy on the R2.
Thank you for your input, however I think something that could make your videos flourish is to script them. That way you can avoid unnecessary repetition and get your thoughts across better.
I love this. I have a RM2 for about 18 months now, it changed my life completely. There's something about it that mirrors how my mind organize me my already busy mind in some minimalist zen state. I am irritated by the amount of marketing my Reddit and RUclips are getting, as I can feel dopamine rushes when reviewing a product I know I might want but know I don't need. I have no problem paying good money for a good product but it's simply an act of consumerism to pump up my happiness and satisfaction levels from my current device. I am ok with being informed once or twice RMPP exists, but to be constantly battered by messages that it's the best thing out there through comparison especially is the very thing I enjoy getting away from which RM2 helps me with. That is why your video is worth watching. It's not just a product review, it's a balm for a mind that wants to be told at some points, I am happy and I have everything I need. Thank you for making my morning,
This is the most thoughtful comment and so well said. I identify with that experience 100%. RUclips and social in general helps us learn a lot about tech, but there’s a commodification that isn’t scaled properly to our actual usage/consumption… and it’s overwhelming. Appreciate your thoughts. You made mine, too! 💫
@@YvesThePoet So, uhhh, the day after I posted this reply, my RM2 Type folio stopped functioning. I tried everything a whole morning, angry while reflective; chatted with RM's help line and they couldn't figure it out. I didn't find this situation a common happening on the Remarkable chat rooms I am part of, posting a query, I got zero help. It broke down, totally lifeless, not a single key in communication with the pad. I tried the few suggestions I gathered online, factory reset, unenroll the Beta version, clean the hardware, turn off and on. In consensus with the RM helpline that this was not a usual happenstance, I was advised to ship it to Hong Kong through DHL. Despite HK is just a doorstep from the Philippines, shipping would likely cost me the same price as getting a new one, but then they don't ship into the Philippines. So I was to find another route to a friendly country RM ships to, where a friend might send me the new folio if they found out the thing really was broke and I deserved the replacement, which wasn't really 100%. All of which would take umpteen number of days. I told the RM peeps, that sounds like a hassle. I have to confess I thought about the RMPP, half thinking it might be nice, half remembering all those folks who were experiencing delays in shipping. If it was at all order-able to the Philippines, I might have just done so, but I am working on some projects that demand some intense mental filing asap, losing the folio disrupted my work flow as I had gotten just so used to my type folio help me manage continuity in an already disruptive earth. By the afternoon, I had removed the RM2 from its case and I realised how much I actually loved this paper-thin tablet, just on its own, with its marker doing its slow motions. I have horrible handwriting - maintaining my love for what the RM2 does best, which is to help me think slow by default, I am feeling happy to take what appeared suddenly a paper tablet true to its function, along with me everywhere I go. It weighs nothing. I bit the bullet, went to the one Apple Story on my island and picked up a bigger iPad to replace my smaller mini. I had hesitated to do that for months as the RM2 was fulfilling some tasks which I had a problem differentiating between mediums. A simplified B&W RM2 alongside a more able coloured backlit iPad with the apps essential for my work, felt sensible. This new iPad Pro today already helps me to leave my MacBook at home, lightening my backpack as I transport myself via motorbike most of the time. All that just to say, outside of my intentional volition, stripped remarkably bare, I am seeing this trusty companion, a blank new canvass.
So you don’t actually know anything because you haven’t tried it So why are you talking about it?
Just for fun
You can still have and share an opinion, even if you haven't used it
True you can. As Ill informed as it is and speculative. No real value in it, just some chic talking about something she really has no knowledge about.
There are many people, that don't have the opportunity to test it and only have the information available online. Based on those, you can most definitely have an informed opinion. Especially, when you are already an Rm2 user.
Bought the remarkable PP replaceing my RM2, I absolutely love it and not bothered by the refresh...it happens fast enough. Its worth the cost, hopefully the next version is cheaper.
Glad to hear you love it! Maybe I should reconsider… we’ll wait and see if they can bring that price down.
@@YvesThePoet 299 USD , is the sweet spot for me 🤣 🙏🏾.
@@iphoneupdate Totally
I can't watch this with headphones on.. the segments with the screen capture have their audio set to not stereo and I can only hear it from the left one. I'd recommend using OBS for recording if there's no option in w.e software this is or in post fixing that by changing audio attributes for said recordings to stereo and duplicating the audio on the right to be the same as the left.
Thank you, I’ll try to fix this for next time! I was recording on a new device. Good looking out 🙌🏼
You published 23 minutes of opinions on a product you never even used?
Yes
Brilliant!
I wish you would put out a video after actually using the device, and not put out opinions in void. What a waste of time.
So that’s sort of the plan to do both, but the device is expensive, so this video is like a first reaction and not a review. Thanks for stopping by 💫
The title said she's not buying it. Watch the video for her reason. Why are ranting about another thing when you have other reviewers doing what you want.
It’s fair for her not to buy a 800 device if her rm2 already does what she does lol
Color will be nice (and was necessary), but the big decision maker for me is the front light. I’m tired of turning on overhead lights almost every time I need to use my rM2. So for me .. that is a huge issue! Can’t wait for mine to arrive. The granddaughter will love the rM2!
@@Equalizer58 Awesome -- the light is definitely a tempting aspect of the paper pro, and I'm so glad they added that. Love that your granddaughter will get to experience the rM2 as well. Enjoy your new product!
I bought my rm2 last week for 300 bucks in pristine condition and type folio . I am the winner! Definitely not getting the RPP for 800 bucks . Don’t need color and honestly light would be nice but not needed
Love to hear that you’re happy with your tech decision. I agree with you, the additions are nice but not necessary. Hope you enjoy your remarkable experience.
