@@pickleli Great...which city or state do you play in the most? Trying to figure out if there is variability between regions. Have you noticed?

@ I’m in Georgia, I think there is possibly some variance in skill levels but I doubt it would be a 1.0 difference or something like that. I think pickleball gameplay videos just doesn’t record the skill well and people will always think it’s lower level than it is haha.

One guy got 7th in 5.0 PPA, one guy got 2nd at the The Kitchen Open 4.5 division 🤷‍♂️

I ended up getting 2nd! I heard pickleball always looks a little easier in video, but it is what it is haha. Also perhaps it was tournament nerves or having a bad game to attribute to some errors. But for reference the other team was DUPR rated around 4.9 and 4.5, and my team was rated around 4.8 and 4.1

@@pickleli Congrats. I saw another short from this tourney with you guys jumping around doing Ernes, which looked more impressive than this game. Yeah I think watching videos there is a tendency to see all the mistakes from everyone and interpret it as being way more mistakes than you individually make in a game, which obviously it would be, so it can be hard to judge fairly. I think there is some variance between countries in DUPR though, particularly US (with a huge player population) maybe has a bigger range than other countries, so possibly easier to get to higher rankings. We've had a few US visitors at our club for a session or two. Their ratings seem generally a little higher than equivalent standard players here.

@@mattc3581 I didn’t see the second part of the message! But yeah I agree, but I would say it’s more that the DUPR system is not always accurate especially with players who don’t play lots of tournaments or only play in one area. I have seen my fair share of overrated people haha
