Lady Aquatica | Coral Reef Tank
Канада
Добавлен 20 фев 2023
To me, marine reef tanks are nothing short of a living piece of art. Crafting and nurturing this mini oceanic masterpiece brings me immense joy and fulfillment. It's like curating my very own underwater gallery, where every fish, coral, and invertebrate is a unique brushstroke that adds to the overall composition. Over the past seven years, my dedication to this hobby has grown, and with each passing day, I become more mesmerized by the ever-changing beauty within my saltwater aquarium. The experience of witnessing the growth and interactions among the marine life feels like watching a painting come to life, making me appreciate the intricate details and complexities of the underwater world even more. This hobby has become an integral part of my life, and I eagerly look forward to many more years of nurturing and celebrating with all of you. Your support and shared passion would mean the world to me as we explore the wonders of this underwater realm side by side.

Hi, firstly you shouldn’t never use cipro while lights are on at all. It’s recommended to dose at night time. Ideally you should have removed all your euphyllia in to a 25 litre container with a heater and flow and bathed the corals with the antibiotics for 8-10 hours as well as doing a 6 day corse of cipro treatment in the tank. This will ensure it’s fully eliminated. Corals may start to show improvement but if there’s a tiny bit of bacteria lurking around it will spread again months down the line. Also if your leaving your skimmer on then make sure it’s overflowing back in to the sump otherwise your just pulling the antibiotics out.. Every time you buy new euphyllia you should always treat them with antibiotics before adding to your system others wise your just going to keep introducing the bacteria back in your tank. Good luck
Hi thanks for the video reading through comments it seems this did save the torches? However you mention facing ongoing issues do you feel they are related to this treatment?
Wtf i thought it was only like 4 teaspoons to 5 gallons you put a whole cup ?
What a wonderful job you are doing, looks like pretty much work but i can understand that it deserves at the end. Thanks for sharing this perhaps one day i also do my little experiment with this
mine aggressive... because it costly fish ... aggressive mean sure alive .. haha😊😊😊
0.36ppm phosphates !!!
If its stable .36 that is fine. LPS tend to like dirty water anyway but in general this is a high reading. We generally want ~.03 PO4
Nice tank I going to buy one because I love the way it looks over the standard tanks you have fix yours up nicely
How are you? The tank is ok?
Onyx Picasso
i think i seen you at reefapoloza 2024 ny and the 2 you tubers i was with called you queen reef, they were wrong.. i think i have that content on my twitch live, if that was you i hope you had a good time and got some awesome content <3 also i think i bumped into you at the kungfu booth
It was me! I was confused for a bit haha, I was just thinking of LA next!
Do you sell any zoa frag packs and ship in Canada?
Hi, my tank is going through this problem and I have already had several dead corals. Did it really work for you? Your answer would be very helpful to me, thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.
All in all, it did! But I’m dealing with other issues now.
Does a UV lamp in-line can help with this kind of problem to prevent it?
I don’t think so unfortunately
Yes it can help prevent infections. It’s why people use them. To combat bacteria, protozoan or algae
Amazing 👍🏼
Thanks 😁
Wow. This has been going on in my tank and can’t figure it out. Just the euphylia like you said everything else is fine.
If I was you, I’d get my hands on some amoxicillin and cipro.
@@ladyaquatica yes but where to get without script?
I contacted an online vet that prescribed it and I picked it up at my local pharmacy. DM me on insta if you want more info.
same. my goniopora is fine and they are notorius for water parameters, and my acros are fine. just my euphyllia is doing bad.
I am a certified ICP consultant for Fauna Marin. Please send a Fauna Marin Total ICP, select Frag Farm as your advisor, when you register the sampler and I will help you.. unfortunately the issues you have encountered will return unless you fix the chemistry.
Hi, I have lots of those tests kits at home. Just need to get around sending one in!! That’s for the feedback.
Good luck 🙏🤞✌️
Thanks, I’ll have an update shortly
@@ladyaquatica sounds good 👌
Had the same issue lately. Dipped and then treated the entire tank with cipro for 3 days. Lost 1 torch colony and 1 sps colony…. 😢. My confetti colony took 1.5 years to grow and was looking amazing.
So sad. 😔 specially when you grow them from a small frag and something comes in and kills them. Assuming you didn’t combine that cipro with amoxicillin??
@@ladyaquatica , I only dosed cipro. The tank is becoming stable again. And grow everything from frags. I don’t add wild sps.
How’s the tank doing
@@ladyaquatica , the tank is back to equilibrium again. Did a big water change a week ago. Hopefully, no more brown jelly. How are things with yours.
@scotttang6229 good, but not 100%
Check for magnet rust
Thanks Luke, I did check as that was a concern and wasn’t able to locate. 🙏
I literally just posted this on my last video.. same thing is happening to my torch in my tank. Also had few acans melt. I’m following closely on this. I thought it may have been my flow or over zealous husbandry.. please update us on this I may have to do the same
You’ll need to act quick if it’s at this level. I’ll DM you.
I think I’m having similar issue. All my euphyllia are flat with open mouths. All my water testing seems to be fine. Ugh so stressful
Oh man, that sucks. I wish you all the best. Do you have a doser?
@@ladyaquatica I do. Have your corals started turning around? I’m thinking I’m going to iodine dip my corals that seem affected instead of nuking the whole tank. I don’t want to kill beneficial bacteria
Yup, the corals are now recovering. I don’t believe iodine will be enough for you, and remember your water is already infected. You’d be returning them to a tank that will continue to kill them. Once the bad bacteria is in your main tank, full tank treatment is your only way to get rid of.
@@ladyaquatica just lost another torch and now my holy grail hammer is looking bad......ughhh. i dosed chemi clean 2 days ago. hoping that stops it as chemiclean is an anti bacterial
Contact Kung Fu Corals on insta he can troubleshoot with you if it’s a bacterial infection and what your dosage would be
The fish look awesome though😂
Don’t they 😋
Well don't put left over Kentucky Fried chicken in the tank 😊
Lol why not. The fish need to eat!
Hello LadyAquatica, Solomon’s Island here with a quick input on your situation, a lot of people step away from the basics when a issue is at hand and look for a chemical to resolve the issue, being in the hobby for quite a while I’ve learned there are typically only six things that could be causing this, flow, water quality, water parameters, par level, parasites or non reef safe fish, which are many factors to consider. If this were to happen to me i’d check the flow it looks like the hammers and torches are not opening up all the way, I’d check all my parameters with Hanna checkers and Hanna Salinity checker and use the Red Sea Mag test kit to make sure my levels are healthy, I have a par meter so I already know my par levels but I’ll check again just incase, I’d keep a small wrasse like a 6 line if you don’t have one already for things like flatworms,I don’t believe u have any non reef safe fish, but if all those things checkout, isolate and dip affected coral in revive,I’d remove all chemical filtration, add a good fresh quality carbon bag for 1 week only, remove carbon bag then do a 20% water change and stay chemical free and just continue to keep your parameters stable and allow the tank to recover naturally.
Thank you Solomon! The treatment was already completed in the video. I’ll keep you updated next with the results. For context, I have a trident, a doser, two wrasses, and Hanna checkers for nitrates and phosphates.
@@ladyaquatica you’re welcome, sounds good!
Im no expert with lps but i know some have success with iodine dips.
A lot of times this treatment is only temporary unless you pinpoint the issue. Sometimes you get lucky and it doesn't return. I believe it is mostly a nutritional issue. My issue returned multiple times even after treatments. It stopped when I began using the CRT Concoction. Basically with better nutrition the corals can fight off pathogens as they should naturally. Never target feed torch corals. That only stresses them more. Also amino acids can fuel the pathogens. Even with antibiotics my pathogens were still present. They need to be healthy to live with the pathogens unaffected. Good luck.
Hmm, I’ll do some research on this CRT, never heard of it before. With your previous temporary success what meds did you use over how many days?
@@ladyaquatica At first I tried cipro dosing 2 times. Each time was 3 to 7 days of dosing. Then I did KFC whole tang treatment. I did aquabiomics testing 3 times. The antibiotics never fully rid the tank of pathogens.
Fingers crossed for you 🤞
Thanks 🙏 I’ll keep you updated
Hoping the best for you with the treatment.
🥰 🙏
I really hope you get things figured out. There’s always the Aquabiomics route if you wanted to see if any coral pathogens are in the tank. After successfully keeping Euphyllia for years and then suddenly losing colonies one by one, I finally quit keeping them. 😢 It’s sad because those are the corals that attracted me to the hobby. Thousands of dollars in livestock gone. Desperately dosing cipro, baths, iodine, and every dip I could think of. It sucks really. You have been at this hobby for a long time. I hope things turn around for you!
Damn, did you try the KFC dip too? I felt the same, I grew these corals from 1-2 heads and bam all of them dying at once. Torches are also the coral that attracted me to the hobby.
Amoxicillin is all you need to treat the tank. Been there done that before
It’s definitely the main ingredient.
Wishing you all the best . Ill be following along
🙏 Thanks, definitely need to do a quick update. Love the communities support
Good luck sis i can feel you pain a bit 😐.. let us know what happens plz .. ive lost 3 torches this year question have you done any house work or painting ect ?..
Thanks so much 🙏 and no, no house work for a while…1+ year But I did buy many new euphyllias over the last few months.
I truly hope that your Beautiful corals recover
Thanks so much
That’s never a good feeling.
I was desperate, and booked an online vet visit. Never done it before
Fingers on both hands, crossed for you. I've used the KFC dip and in tank treatment, a handful of times with great success. Hope the same for you.
Thanks! But why a handful of times?! Lol are you not learning your lesson. Any loss?
@@ladyaquatica 😂 I have 5 tanks. I would say my success rate is about 80%. I've lost a few torch polyps but never the entire colony.
That’s great news!!
I hope the treatment fix the problem, the tank looks beautiful , good luck
Thanks so much. There’s always something going wrong right.
Always😢😂
It's not a bacteria infections, are your water parameters stable and the same as before, if not then its definitely water parameters your phosphate is to high should be .1 or 0.05 - 0.1, also check your alkalinity, salinity, keep doing water changes every couple of days to reset tank,do iodine dip on lps, hopefully corals will slowly recover 🤞
Do you think I could successfully keep Goniopora without stable water parameters? I have a Trident and I conduct ICP testing, so I monitor the conditions closely. Typically, my nutrient levels are at 15 NO3 and 0.07 PO4. The recent increase in nutrients was due to the KFC dip treatment, which is a standard in-tank reaction. I believe the issue was a bacterial infection, based on the corals' response to the treatment and their current performance. Thanks for your feedback!
Your nutrients parameters are good before coral tissue lost, I had tissue lost on my lps due to high phosphate .3 and nitrates of 50 and alkalinity 13, I recommend before using chemicals and stressing corals more on parameters swing, just stick with the frequent water changes and yes you should have no problems keeping Goniopora as long as you don't have big swings in parameters, like any corals they will sulk stay close if this happens give them time and they will adapt and recover, for me water changes every two days seem to solve most problems if you don't know the cause. 🤞
I’ve already done the full treatment, I’ll keep you updated with results next.
That Stinks! I hope it works. I have done the KFC dip for years, haven't done the in tank though. Looking forward to your follow up video.
Thanks! For sure, next one should be a quick update, yay or nay lol
The reef looks nice. I hope the treatment works for you 👍
Thanks so much. It's risky for a full tank treatment.
What kind of weird rule does Canada have for reef building corals? You’d think they would want more aquacultured corals idk seems odd
It’s not just Canada, it’s all countries. You arnt allowed to cross any borders with reef building corals without a CITIES permit. I guess part of the issues is that you cant prove it aqua-cultured.
@@ladyaquaticahave you talked to with Reptile Express about import or export of coral? Their name suggests they only help with reptiles, but I know they've helped others in the past. Also really cool to find a southern Ontario creator! I'm just starting my reef keeping journey

Heheh 🤭
Wow the new A3 is basically idiot proof. I am still running the A1 after 12 years with 12 modules and 3 EB8.
Haha, I have my EL still. Wondering what to do with it.
I am running an A1 as well for 15 years and it’s still going. I liked the integration of the Apex WAV but when it failed and I found out Apex no longer makes a WAV replacement and no other Powerheads that support variable speeds with the A1, I upgraded to the A3. Question is have you figured out what you’re doing with your old unit? Maybe if I can use it to power my mixing station in the basement or set up a quarantine tank
Those nails look wild under that blue light 😂👌
Haha they sure do ☺️
Great video. Nice detailed info, I have the same sump.
Nice. I want a bigger one now! ☺️
