Mary's Trail, Deadcow and The Tubes - White Wash Sand Dunes Moab, UT
On a two week trip this last fall my buddy Eric and I headed down from rainy Washington to experience the legend that is Moab.
As we were coming from the north we decided to hit the White Wash Sand Dunes OHV area, just south of I70 and west of Hwy 191. It's a huge BLM area that we were very lucky to be able to experience.
This was the first time riding real sand and slickrock, and as Eric says "watch us fail and flail our way through"!
We first went to the dunes play area, then ride Mary's Trail, and Deadcow that flows into The Tubes. Tough to pick but I think The Tubes was my favorite trail, very different than anything I've ridden before. All said and done we rode 55 miles that day.

Moab Sovereign Trail
Просмотров 3827 месяцев назад
On a two week trip this last fall my buddy Eric and I headed down from rainy Washington to experience the legend that is Moab. As primarily Cascade riders the sand and slickrock made for some steep learning, but by the end of the week we felt confident. This trail was recommended to us by a ranger at Sand Flats where we camped for the week (turns out he's been guiding motorcycle trail rides for...
I crashed my brand new KTM dirt bike!

My first solo ride in Sep '21 on my brand new 2022 KTM 300 EXC-TPI dirt bike, and let's just say learning was occurring. It's great to look back at old riding footage and laugh at some of the mistakes you've made. I didn't even have legit dirt biking gear at the time. All in the name of progress! I set out from my home in Pápa, Hungary and rode to the Döbrönte forest, past an old abandoned cast...
C-Dory 22' Cruiser: Winter Dungeness crabbing in the Puget Sound
Просмотров 77 тыс.Год назад
Winter crabbing is open in Washington! Come along as we take the C-Dory out to try our luck, and see if we ended up with tasty Dungeness crab. We started out making Dungeness crab omelettes, then head out on the boat. After arriving at the crab traps we pull them to see what we caught. All in all, a great day crabbing on the Puget Sound, ant the C-Dory cabin cruiser showing what a perfect PNW b...

Initial pickup and cruise in my buddy's new C-Dory 22' Cruiser. We get it in the water, into its new home, then take it out to enjoy an overcast PNW day.

What was the hard part at the end, after the camera died?

    • @wolfpackroam

We said from the beginning that there would either be an obstacle that stops us, or it won't. After hours of riding and finding some big rock ledges to get up we finally found the obstacle (steep rock climb with a 30' potential fall on one side) so we called it a day, went down the rock ledges and rode the sand roads back to the trucks.

They are Highway Dirtbikes (HDB) ultimate handguards, made in USA and absolutely bombproof. Both Eric and I run them, and I have them on my T7 as well. My bike is plated and this was the best option for mirrors, they are out of the way and I don't notice them at all when riding. Thanks for watching!

This is great. I've mt biked this trail many times, and have made maybe 100 trips to Moab over the years, from Colorado (4-5 hr drive) for mt biking. But now I'm getting into motos and dirt bikes, and this trail looks all different and difficult and challenging. Great job, hope you had fun, in that Type 2 sort of way.

Thanks for checking out the video! It was both of our first times to Moab and it was incredible, got to see a wide range of trails. This one can be a bit tricky as we went back and forth from the ST to ATV trail (at the recommendation of said park ranger). That being said we saw some MTBs climbing one of the gnarly downhill sections that we did. Welcome to moto where the climbs are a lot more fun!

I'd like to chime in here. We love C-Dory, we had NMI build a new custom 23 a few years ago. They did an amazing job. I won't go into all the detail but we sold it a year later and are now looking at a much larger and deeper V boat. Like the Sea Sport. If I knew then what I know now I would not even look at a C-Dory. I would have gone straight with a 26 Sea Sport at least. You truly get what you pay for. Unless you are using the C-Dory as just a bay boat on good days I'd say go Sea Sport. Many will disagree. I get that. I just see no reason to get a C-Dory from NMI when they make the Sea Sport, a much, much better vessel. I suppose this is 100% a money issue. I also get that. My only advice is to really, really decide EXACTLY how you will use it and how much you are willing to compromise on safety and where and when you'd like to go. Not that a C-Dory is not safe, within her means. Our friends and many others that had C-Dorys talked us into ours. I felt in my gut it was not the right boat for us, and it was not. She was a beautifully crafted boat and I did love her. But once we used it in anything but good seas we realized we had made a mistake. That is a very personal statement. Your mileage may differ. But I feel everyone you talk to about a C-Dory is just trying to sell you on a compromise and are justifying their purchase. Maybe she is the perfect vessel for you and your needs. If so, you are in amazing hands with NMI for sure. C-Brats is an amazing group to belong to as well, we met so many amazing and friendly folks. Please don't take this as a dump on C-Dory. Just be 100% positive on how you are going to use her. Also, your comfort level and desires might be completely different from mine or others. Your idea of safety will also be much different than mine or others as well. For cruising around the PacWest on decent days she is a fine vessel for sure and we had many awesome days on ours and our friends '22. If this gets you into boating and that's what you can afford she is perfect. If you have the funds, I'd at least sea trial something bigger, and then you can at least compare.

Kirk, I really appreciate your input here. I am going to look at a c-dory 22 tomorrow, and a sea trial is not possible-I have not ridden in one. The flat bottom and wave pounding concern me, but the trailering weight and ability to move into shallow water are good features for us. We are trying to keep the tow weight below 5,000... I also want the outboard and same cabin arrangement-dinette/galley counter. Hoping you could give any suggestions?? Thanks, Randy

It's only 22' but C Dorys are known for their strength and stability in rough waters. It's completely enclosed construction helps with this. Many documented crossings of the Columbia Bar in Oregon (one of the most dangerous bar crossings in the world, and where US Coast Guard trains).

I'll give you some criticism boys the way you clean them that's nice way but the best way to do it cook them in the shell why because you get all the good juices when they're cooked in the shell and all the good fat that you can make crab soup I'm in the best stuff from the best stuff is in the shell but a lot of people will just do it your way crack them and throw all the junk all the junk in the ocean and I think you're just wasting all the good stuff but this that's the way I always done it whole whole crab in the boiling and boil them I just think they taste better personally but this that's me

On the other side of the world in Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia there were two fantastic crab species that are still much sought after and fantastic prawns. The mud crab and the sand crab or blue swimmer to name them. There are many stories from the old-timers that when the sandies were on pre-overdevelopment times eg up to the 1960's, that big tigers and even great whites would arrive to feast on these crabs and giant schools of prawns, kings and bays. These sharks would literally open their mouths and push along the bottom, usually sand and seagrass beds to scoop up the over-abundant populations. You would see long furrows on the bottom and often in pretty shallow waters. Who doesn't like fresh crabs and prawns. PS muddies are more mangrove shore based crabs and don't school like sandies do.
