I bought my 2000 dakota brand new in 2001 and I'm still driving it. Still runs great! It's just sad to see these trucks falling apart because of a lack of basic maintenance.
What engine is in your Dakota
It's a 2001. Been away from RUclips for a while. Project is complete just have to upload a video on it!
Please do👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
@@davidmyers6478 uploadddddd!
I am doing the same with my 2001
Thats awesome to hear! Let me know if you have any questions! I'll be uploading a new video soon. The project is completed I've just been away from RUclips for a bit
Hey! My friends think I'm nuts, but I'm restoring my Dakota too! I'm just finishing up a front end job, and starting on the body soon.
Awesome!
My neighbor sold me his 1998 Dodge Dakota for $600 if I would just take it out of his backyard. Fortunately, me, him, and my dad managed to push it out of his yard into ours so that I could get started on making it inspection ready. I thought it had some fuel and PCM problems because it wouldn't start easily. However, after cleaning out the throttle body with some throttle body cleaner, it starts up right away. I'm now working my way through the car to make some tune-ups here and there and topping off on the fluids.
That’s crazy I just bought my friends 98 dakota for 300
That's awesome! Good luck with your project. Cheers!
When's the next video coming?
It is in progress right now! Stay tuned
I have the same truck, in grey. Mine is in alot better shape though. Where did you get the hood from??
I got the hood from CertiFit. Decent price
Waaaaayyyy too much time with you looking at yourself talking about what has to happen..... Show more actual work! Props for the project from one Dakota fan to another 🤙
New video is in the works man. The truck build is done just piecing it together now. Stay tuned. Appreciate the feedback.
Will have to follow. Just about to buy a friends 2001 Dakota.
I appreciate that. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask! Stay tuned for Part 2
Hey, I found somebody as crazy as me!!! I'm restoring a 2002 4.7 dakota sport. Nice to see, and i look for the part 2. Wish you good luck to find parts, here in Canada a lot of OEM parts are not available anymore.... Thanks for the video
Hey good to know I'm not alone out here! It's been a long road but she's coming along. I need to start uploading more content. Stay tuned!!
Same here, though I have my work cut out for me. I have the same truck as you, but it used to have a plow on the front and a salt spreader on the back. I brought it down south with me to a beach town, and the salt water (I live less than 300 feet from a bay) has hit it HARD.
Nice! Hopefully it's not too bad! What do you have planned for it???
@@davidmyers6478 oh boy, let's see. Every body piece on the truck has rust that needs to be cut and patched, the frame has some holes that also need to be cut out and patched, it needs new brake lines, new fuel lines, a starter, and possibly a new oil pan. I also plan on upgrading the headlights, grille, and bumpers, adding running boards, and possibly custom building a new bed instead of restoring the old one. Engine and transmission are in great shape though, as are the differentials. I know it's a lot of work, but it's going to be a long term project. The hardest part will be convincing the wife to let me tow it from Florida to Ohio when I move lol.
@mavericksagara OH Man! Sounds like you have your work cut out for you! Luckily I live in Colorado and the truck is from here so the bit of rust I did have on the body wasn't to bad! Nothing a wire wheel, bondo and primer couldn't fix! I just finished building the 5.9 Magnum that I'm throwing in it. It's turned out good. I'll be posting up a follow up video soon!
When’s part 2
It's in the works as we speak
@@davidmyers6478 ....
Looking good
Thanks Man. I appreciate that!
Ohhhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhh
