Hellraiser films, before the more recent one or ones, were not hell but a different dimension with a different pov on senses. And you dont go there if you are bad, you have to ask and want to go - they through this out in later movies because blah blah blah - but the original book and the first two films are very clear.

Honestly a lot of the comments here have some great examples and it made me think of something. What if hell doesn't hurt you physically like in most depictions. I mean your dead why would it bother. Instead what if it simply gives you exactly what you ask for. Want to be the wealthiest? Congratulations your stuck in a world where yes your rich, but so is everyone else. You get exactly what you want but its now so mundane it doesn't matter. Addicted to women? Congratulations your stuck in a world where women can't get enough of you. So much so that your consent means nothing. Filled with anger and simply wanna hurt others? Congratulations your in a world where at every waking moment of your eternal existence you are forced to fight. The only breaks you get are when you nearly die from exhaustion only to wake back up good as new ready to fight endlessly again. Thus the idea of hell being a false paradise is now foreveer stuck in my head. Because honestly it makes sense when you think about it for a bit. The reason the devil was exiled was because of his jealousy. Of course he'd try to make a better afterlife. But he wouldn't truly understand what makes paradise paradise. So while the residents of hell suffer endlessly getting their wishes fulfilled to its absolute. The devil is tortured by the fact he can't seem to understand what these mortals want.

I had a bout of paranoia+hallucinations after 4 days no sleep and it was basically Jacob's ladder 1:1 at least the parts you pointed out. Had not seen the movie in many, many years when it happened, only associated the episode to it a while back, nothing was even replicated out of my vague memories from it, it all happened organically and in subjectively subconscious bought to the conscious ways. you basically have micro-nightmares as you go. I'm sure whoever wrote the movie had experienced something similar which gives me lots of peace.

War is hell

A quote from the movie The Prophecy from 1995 has always stood out to me as one of the best descriptions of what hell is. Lucifer talking to the main character Thomas says "Do you know what Hell really is, Thomas? It's not lakes of burning oil or chains of ice. It's being removed from God's sight, of having His word taken from you. It's hard to believe, Thomas, so hard. I know that better than anyone." This description of hell always stuck with me as it actually makes sense and is something I can relate to in a way as someone who had a troubled childhood. I've messed up before bad enough that all my parents did was nothing, no grounding, no loss of this or that, no yelling, nothing, just a look in their eyes and walking away. I would've taken a million punishments at that moment over that feeling.

I like the Hell in Hellboy the most.

The hell I seen what utterly voided of color except the color of deep red. It was huge reminder that the beautiful colors of life will forever be out of reach. With a constant sound of heavy breathes mimicking the last breaths of life. The sound brought an intense fear.The air still even though you could see a raging inferno in the center.i could not control my body yet it moved forward. Free will did not exist as if your mind was yours but body was not. There were so many people marching forward.people further then you can search like the bottom of a ship disappearing as the distance increased.Time did not exist yet the line marched to the center where in the inferno resided.it was impossible to know how long you have been shuffling forward to the increasing heat. No matter how far you traveled you could never see the inferno up close. My last thoughts before I awoke was “has it been decades ,centuries, millennia’s , how long have I been moving forward?”.
