University of Notre Dame Freshmen First Visit to the Grotto
You rock, not to stone us but to inspire to be a cornerstone of church.
Wow. So many ways in which Fr. Mike is expressing these truths just as I’ve heard them from a trusted teacher . No coincidences with God. It’s astonishing. It’s hugely affirming and reassuring.
Also at the heart of worship, we learn God’s worth and give our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving for all His glorious goodness. I hear Fr. Schmitz saying this. Exodus 7:16 NIV Then say to him, 'The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to say to you: Let my people go, so that they may worship me in the wilderness. But until now you have not listened. It’s also particularly meaningful that Moses says they were being called to “the wilderness” to worship because I’m being called to the Catholic faith but it seems a time of trial or challenge not only to my own previous perspective but because of the impact on my Lutheran spouse. But isn’t in the wilderness where we truly learn God’s worth and how to worship Hin? He is with us in the wilderness.
This is such a good word. Thanks be to the Lord.
To us modern day people whom God grafts into the tree of His people, Israel, Jesus’ teaching does seem weird, but yet it US yet a hard teaching. What made it so very shocking and difficult for those who first heard Jesus say they were to consume His very flesh and blood was the absolute prohibition against eating flesh together with the blood which is the life. Yes, Jesus ‘ command seems super weird to us now, but we need to remember why it sounded so impossible and horrifying and totally contrary to His Jewish hearers.
Adults fail to teach the youngest in society this one, central truth: Your life is not about you. It's been a massive failure of all adults who seek to inspire youth. Telling them they are the center of the world is a lie, is psychologically destructive to the soul and it's perversion, not to mention child abuse. Only sick, demented, sinister, nefarious adults teach young people that they deserve whatever they desire, no matter how insane or disconnected from reality. Selfishness is an abomination to humanity and God. You only matter because God loves you. Therefore, everything we have is a gift from the divine Creator of all life. Please stop telling your kids and young people that they are the most important people in the whole wide world. It's just not true and it's harming the most innocent souls on the planet. Take it to the bank: YOUR LIFE IS NOT ABOUT YOU.
Powerful, moving and inspiring. I gotta admit, I cried. When we sense passion, real, authentic, tangible, electric passion, it's impossible to ignore. When I experience passion like this from faithful people and read about the immense Passion Christ has for the Father, I'm humbled to tears, I'm humbled to smallness and I imagine how unimaginably beautiful heaven will be in the eternal Presence of Our Blessed Lord, the angels, the Holy Family, the Saints and the entire body of Christ. As Peter Kreeft likes to say, Christ was never boring or ignorable on earth, why would we think He would be any different or less captivating in heaven?! This is the true calling of our existence. There is no greater calling or potential for our lives or our eternal souls than to be connected to our loving, merciful Creater. If Jesus is not who He says He IS, then He's obviously a bad, non-holy man not worthy of worship or adoration. But, if He IS who He says He IS...everything changes, and we must love Him with our entire mind, body and soul. So, it always comes down to that now-infamous term CHOICE, which we were given freely as a natural part of our humanity. Do we choose to be faithful, or not? Everything depends upon our decision.
I am never gonna let my mind wander at mass again. I want to worship, not watch.
Father Mike is so in love with God that is why he can become so excited and speak so fast. Father Mike, just be you . I am listening to you from Malaysia. I am so inspired by you.
Yoh i cried 😭
Father Mike at my alma mater! Our Lady, please watch over and protect Father Mike.

Read little brother Charles of Jesus. It's exactly that! Must become a second nature.
Awesome homily Father Mike,
The music was so distracting lol

I bet radtrads hate this beautiful Sister!
God bless you Fr. Mike❤ you're so anointed.
I was so moved and inspired. I want to share this with my kids and all Catholics.
Are the most gifted priests sold out to non-profits? Or are they working on a vacation with each sermon? Or are they truly free?
huh?
I have now watched this 5 or 6 times and have sent to family and friends. I am a convert but have hung out with Catholics most of my life. I didn’t learn from them, I learned from my son who is also a convert, his family (by homeschooling religion), a priest that took a chance on me (father Peffley) and now from father Mike. The passion he has is unparalleled. God bless you father Mike. I will be starting the Bible in a year today and next year, what the heck, catechism in a year. Happy new year

Fr Schmitz - wow! Life in the Mass and true life in the Eucharist!! Truly a Priest for the masses. Thank you.
This speech changed how I participate in the mass! I have never been able to participate in the mass the same after I watched this 3 years ago. I learned that I was just a Catholic going through the motions. I will always come back to this video as a refresher and to share with others. Blessed be Jesus through his most holy sacrament of the altar!
I am in OCIA. A not-yet Catholic. This is the best explanation of the Mass I have ever heard.
Bishop Barron, Fulton Sheen, Dr. Peter Kreeft, and many others throughout the 20th Century give amazing witness to the beauty and potential in the Mass. Seek and you shall find. God's waiting and hiding, with open arms.
Best speech l ever listened to .Very emotional on the Blessed Sacrament and the Holy Mass . Thank you Father
Im a convert.....I didn't fully GET it. Had a bad experience my friend kept saying go to worship.....3 yrs later....Im in tears Fr Mike.....Thank you!! For giving me the knowledge of what to do...God Bless you....
The noise is very heavy outside. I will listen when it is quiet. Love you.
This is so enlightening. God bless you Sister ❤
Thank you Father Mike.I am not Catholic, but this is a great message and clear to me!!
I am Protestant but I was so moved by this sermon. Glory to God in the highest!! ❤
Seek out the presentations of Dr. Peter Kreeft, also a former Protestant. His witness is powerful and passionate as any you'll find in converting to the Catholic faith. I think his great one is called, "7 Reasons why everyone should be Catholic".
Sh La La Joseph you’re doin’ fine You and your dream coat ahead of your time
Best message I heard in a long time!! Worst music I heard in a long time. Thank you sister Miriam for pulling through despite it. This way we have the transcript...
Thank you so very much Fr. Mike 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Wow, thank you Father Mike
What a great motivational speaker Fr Mike truly is. Really touching and moving. Thank you very much Notre Dame for sharing this with us. Lovely to see so many young Catholics who love the Lord. Sending greetings and love from South Africa, may God bless you.
Great speech Fr Mike. I get overwhelmed 😢at every Mass. Seeing you do the same thing Father makes me feel so much better. Mine comes on without any warning. Any ideas why this happens to me?
May the Love of God and the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ bless and console you and gently wipe every tear from your eyes in the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Kill the music! 1:06:29
Hello Michael Good nigth..😅
Sr. Miriam is a false prophet. i testify now. You generally hate GOD for dragging you into your heart so you can find HIM. Jermiah 17:9.
Consider Romans 8:17. Never a pleasure cruise. Nor is loving if HE has truly taught you.
You have to hate this life on Earth to actually have a chance to reach and grasp a manner to Heaven.
Ponder Mark 10:21.
Many false prophets will come. They themselves not knowing that they are.
You can NOT receive HIS Love till you learn to love like HIM. A bitterness MOST and a JOY only.
