Pellet Rigs

Fishing with soft pellets is a great spring time tactic. Carp, F1s and skimmers just can't get enough of them, but this style of angling can seem tricky at times. Having the right rigs is the key to getting the most from the bait. This is the tackle that I use, and why I use it... Everything mentioned is available from matchwinningedges.com

Great video, I’m just about to start tying my own after getting snapped up one too many times! Question for you please, when you’ve done your whips and you thread the line back through the eye, what’s to stop the whips coming undone?

Same just put down the method for bomb 😂 want to try as many ways as i can,as to your question I've found blending up two packets of plain digestive biscuits and adding either a bag of some red tackle shop groundbait mix or failing that just adding a load of chilli powder for flavour and colour works great,on fishing day mix your pellets with water as per, when you empty the 💦 from said pellets add it to your biscuit combo and then just mix in with pellets,i think ut works wonders and is cheap as a pack of chips in 1984

I have been experimenting with home-made rigs since watching your video almost 2 weeks ago. I used exactly the same line, hooks, bands and other equipment as you. I'm using a float rod with a 6lb main line for carp averaging 5-8lb and the rigs keep snapping sometimes whilst playing the fish but mostly when a fish initially bolts with the bait. Maybe, these strength rigs are better for pole fishing where the elastic will absorb this kind of energy? I do like the hair-rig concept and experimenting with a wider selection of baits but think I would be better using stronger rig line. However, I don't know what maximum diameter line will thread through the eye of the Guru size 16 hooks you used?

I know this was ages ago, but... I was having the same problem, I've realised that I had overtightened my knots. Now, I'm conscious of this. It hasn't happened since. I'm sure you're all sorted by now anyway.

Great advice - thank you! I like Tri-Cast gear and they have produced some seriously under-rated rods and poles over the years but their spares service is horrendous compared to Daiwa. Agree with RichT about the Preston DWA tips too.

Sorry mate standard rule should be at least 6-8 inches from dacron to float and at least 6-8 inches from float to hook. This is just unacceptable in matches imo and should not be allowed by any fishery. Cant fish under the trees or in the far bank hole? TOUGH SHIT. Standardised format nationwide on every match IMO. Just my opinion but great footage and video. Too much advantage to anglers with top lvl poles that have stiffness at longer ranges.

I wouldn’t call that stiff at 16m it looks horrendous and hard work the Tricast looked stiff better balanced and truth be known probably a lot stronger. You have gone backwards imo I’d have kept the Tricast and bought the Perseption top kits if you Carnt afford the Excellence 980 kits.

Congratulations young man on your win at the festival. You probably caught a greater weight of fish in a week than I catch all season fishing my local opens. Our venues Ie Willow Park are not as productive but being a very average match angler i prefer barbel fishing on the Thames what a tremendous run of big weights. Looking forward to seeing the upcoming blogs.Again well done from a grumpy old git.
