Temporary Power Pole - 100 Year Old House Renovation
How is it going now?
I hate demoing old plaster.
If I can’t do this, do I call the electric company to do this ?
In our area, the electrician supplies and installs the pole and gets it inspected. Then the property owner or contractor calls the power company to request a temporary connection.
This it so nice. Meanwhile the drywall in my house is damn near an inch thick. ☹️
You seem so young to have all your skills, you must have a good teacher.
Hello, what home software is that at 40 seconds???
Sketchup Make 2017
How long did demo take? It was just you and your wife?
8-10 weeks working nights and weekends. Yes just us. A small demo crew could do it in a week or 2.
why cant you use the wood for firewood for heating
How many days did it take to complete the interior tear out?
Just looked back, it took 8-10 weeks of nights and weekends before I could start the new framing.
@@londonconstruction gotcha. Thank you.
That includes the exterior demo in video #3. It would’ve taken some laborers a week or 2.
@@londonconstruction yes, I think we will use some help to get it done in not more than two weeks
Hey Adam. Do you have any more videos of the house remodel to share?
I have more footage I just haven’t got around to editing it. We moved in in August and I got focused on other projects. I really need to get a before/after video done.
@@londonconstruction I understand. Can't wait to see it.
A window in the shower?
LOVE LOVE LOVE THE FLOOR! So glad you did NOT go with that cheap imitation stuff.
I take it you hired out the drywall, electrical and plumbing. Smart man.
Yes, hired out hvac and roofing as well. I should’ve subbed out insulation, they can get better bulk pricing so the labor doesn’t cost much more than diy.
You do phenomenal work. I've enjoyed watching your progress from the beginning!! Was this filmed in 2020 or did you put that in the cement because that's when you started the project? Keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing what's next.
Thanks bill! We started in 2020, but this was filmed in 2021. Honestly, I think I wrote 2020 by mistake but just went with it.
It’s looking great. What’s next?
A few finishing touches, I didn’t film all of them. The next video might be a punch list or complete before and after.
Looks really good my friend. You are a very professional and a skilled master carpenter! I love that Makita Miter Saw! Get me one when my Dewalt dies. I like that you are using CMT saw blades. You can't find a better saw blade in my opinion. Keep the teeth clean and they last a long time. Hope all is well with you and your family and wish you a Merry Christmas.
Thanks!! Merry Christmas to you!
So glad you went with that type of door, window, and baseboard trim!
Thanks again!
Beautiful craftsmanship, thank you once again for the amazing upload.
Thanks!
I'm the type that likes high ceilings all the way up to the roof, but I have to admit, I was kind of digging the coziness of that low ceiling. Of course I'm sure my 6'10 son would of had a problem with it. All in all that is a cute little house. 😊
Thanks Kathy!
Looks awesome! You are very talented. Wish I knew you needed 1/4 inch prefinished plywood for the outlet boo boo. I know were to get some. That way you would not have to paint or finish the plywood you put inside that cabinet.
Thanks!! Where do you get it? Lowes had this 1/4” maple ply.
@@londonconstruction Scrounger's in Asheville, NC has prefinished 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 inch plywood.
well done mate,great job
Thank you!
As always: What great content. :)
Thanks!
Love the sink under the window, and the lazy susan in the corner cabinet so you don't have any wasted space. Great Job.
Thank you Diane!
Brilliant kitchen; great design.
Thanks Anthony!
Pedantic question. You rolled all the taped joints after applying right?
Absolutely. You can see the roller in my belt @ 8:24
@@londonconstruction Sorry, missed that on the first view. Awesome...
Great fun to watch. I wish I had a son like you.
Thanks!
15% is not much but would have been a little more cautious than just wearing a mask.
Did that siding contain asbestos? I know that kind is not known to become easily airborn.
Looks great! Did an awesome job!
That looks great 👍
Thanks barb!
Love your tile selections!!!!!
I'm a new subscriber who has been binge watching your channel ❤️ What an incredible job you are doing!! You pretty much built a whole house by yourself. Hands down one of the best videos I've watched. I can't wait to see the finished home because I know it's going to be stunning. Thanks for sharing.
👍👍🌹🌹
Thanks for posting another up date video. I have done my share of installing hardwood flooring that way......hard on the back and knees. I am a purist and love using solid wood flooring...none of this laminate and vinyl strips. It looks like it's coming along quite nicely...
Beadboard ceiling probably would have saved even to sell or repurpose. 6:02'if those are termites better to treat the area and kill everything before pulling it all down and potentionally send them flying to other new areas they can re-infest.
Re-build not renovate
The quality is out of this world! Thank you for allowing us to view your amazing craftsmanship. Sadly it’s become very rare. Wishing you and yours health, wealth, and happiness.
New pet snake 😂😂
I love older homes. Saving them is great.
Can’t wait to see it finished get job. Love to see old homes brought back to life.
That is some beautiful hardwood flooring. Nice to see good quality solid wood being used in the modern age of everything vinyl planking, good work.
So if you take 100 year old house apart and rebuild it with new materials, is it still considered a 100 year old house?
👍🏻
Can't wait to see the next video.
me too
You can see your attention to detail. Color is looking good. Very fresh and warm.
Like the siding you picked. Wish we could have seen videos of you doing the roof on the front porch, soffit and fascia, and trimming the windows out.
Makes the place look bigger now.
Glad to see I am not the only one to use 2x's to slide sheeting up on a roof!
Glad to see your family and friends helping. I know you are very proud of the accomplishment so far! It's coming along quite nicely! I do have one suggestion and maybe you forgot or it was to save money but I really think you should have put in joist hangers on the floor joist next to the house. I know you used a lot of nails but today's nails are not like nail decades ago. Other than that you are doing a GREAT job!
Thanks again! I added hangers later, I was pushing to get the crawlspace covered because we had rain coming. Thanks for the feedback!
@@londonconstruction After I wrote that I realized maybe you did add them later. If you need any advice (which I doubt it..lol) don't hesitate to ask. You appear to know what you are doing!
@@xzytqweo3538 I appreciate that. Where do you live?
@@londonconstruction Banner Elk, NC.
My dad put the same siding on his house when he built it in 1952. Glad to see you are wearing a mask...the siding contains Asbestos. You should keep a newspaper and should have kept a piece of each wall paper and made a scrap book to show visitors.
Thanks! I had the siding tested for asbestos before demo. We put a roll of old newspapers in a dead space behind a corner cabinet and kept a few just for that reason!
