I love how this car has a 'bad reputation' but everyone I know loves this car and this is my favorite S Class personally.

Owned a 06 s350 for over ten years. Great to drive super comfortable. Love the car.

Had one years ago. No rust issues despite being in the NE of the US. Fun to drive, very quick. I did some minor upgrades: the spark plugs, K&N Air filter and an after market S style grille. Liked the extra flat wallet emergency key. MB hood crest fell off at a carwash, gear lever would lock up enough to become noticeable, etc. In the end, I got rid of it when the P side front spring came falling forward and dropped the car. Not sure how that happened (must have been sabotaged) but it was when I was making a sharp U-turn.

I totally disagree on the early 2000s designs. They were the best looking Mercs ever and I wish Bruno Sacco was back there. Till today, the facelift W203 is the nicest looking C Class and the W211 the most beautiful E Class, and to me the most beautiful car of all time.

This is actually my favourite S Class. The build and material quality on the inside is way better than any S after it I feel. The rear is so classy and elegant.

That fake wood is actually walnut root.

8:25 the reason that you can take the key apart is not for convenience, but an emergency feature! So you can still can get inside the vehicle if your car or key battery is dead.

Drive some shitty cars for a full working week (if you work in office and do 0 physical job then its not for you) and on the weekend go out with a nicer car for reward then you gonna appreciate the feeling of every luxury car.

Never jump this car on the battery terminals. You will burn the charge sensor out. Like a 100 said, use the jump terminals provided for you under the hood. They are clearly marked.

You’re definitely right about the headlights 😂😂 the reason I chose my W220 compared to other Mercedes was really because of those split circle headlights I loved the Mercedes of the time but that design was and still is questionable to me and idk if I like it or not 😂 but the S Class was the only 4 door to not have that…… and I was also in the same boat as you where I wanted an LS430 but even high mileage ones were so expensive whereas I got a 1 owner garage kept and less than 100k miles 2002 S430 for like $5k….. and so far owning it has been a good experience.

Mine’s a 1999 S320 in the 🇵🇭 - changed all the shocks once, some electrical issues that were eventually done so l am generally happy with it 😊

You feel it lacks presence because you have the small and cheap ribs, and cuz its a 430, not a 5 or 600. And the wood trims aren't fake lol. Unless maybe cuz again, its a 430. But yeah my 02 s500 has the amg sport package w the 20in amg rims , shits clean asf

The trunk latch can be opened by pushing the keyhole on the trunk.

I have c 280. Pretty mutch the same but i feel excelent on a highways.

#2 The battery annoyance - on my 2000 C230 Kompressor there's a manual key you can use to open the trunk. Not sure if you're missing the key or they incorporated that feature into later years of the model run.

Did you know there's an analogue key in the fob? Yes, you can unlock the trunk and doors with a dead battery.... .. otherwise a lot of misinformation...

You’re wrong about the turn signals, is a signature feel of Mercedes Benz.

Scary second hand purchases, hope for the best but expect the worst when buying. Structural rot is killing earlier examples now, beware. The W221 is in a completely different class.
