The 1st 2 weeks was hell for me as well..and you got a ton more "training" than I did...i arrived Thursday evening and the next morning went to the hospital for health stuff then got to my hagwon where another teacher just gave me a rundown of what to do and 11:30am I was "teaching"...i was burnt out at the end of the day...eventually I got the hang of it but I was always exhausted at the end of my shift...i miss living in Korea but I don't miss teaching...i was teaching kind-elem students and I want to try again but with middle school age kids...i do not want to deal with kindy kids lol

I just got here this past February and went through similar emotions. I found that journaling my feelings and writing my thoughts down (positive, negative) really helped me. Appreciate your thoughts and honesty. You have a joyful spirit, I'm sure you'll make the best of your journey here.

You should neve send your original documents to anyone; you can carry them with you to whomever needs them and watch them like a hawk to make sure they do not "deface" the original. Defaced documents are worth zilch! Some organizations with shred any documents not used by them (that is to say they'll not send anything back to you because want to prevent fraud and they can't guarantee who'll receive it). They never imagine that folks will ever send the original so they just shred everything not used.

I want to thank you for being honest about your experience. I'll be flying out in two weeks. I worry about this a lot. I keep telling myself it's different their and not to get discouraged. I think that thought of leaving is common. I hope it has gotten better for you. Sending you positive energy!

Hiii! I am also a Canadian from Alberta looking into the possibility of teaching at a hagwon in the near future and I am really curious...When I was speaking to recruiters they did say to get my criminal record check and copy of my degree notarized by a lawyer. But where I lost you is when you had to send it to global affairs Canada! Were you told that by your recruiter? Because I was told I could just send my "lawyer notarized" copy of my degree and criminal record check to get authenticated by the provincial deputy secretary (because when I searched for authentication of documents in Alberta, it sent me to our provincial legislation office info, could I maybe ask the lawyer that is notarizing my documents for their advice?). After that I could just send it off to the consulate general in Vancouver to be notarized/verified once again. I just don't want to get it wrong either so I'm wondering where you got your information! I tried sending an email to the consulate in Vancouver back in December but they have yet to reply. I also just don't want to spend so much money on this entire process if it's going to be incorrect. You can probably relate ahahaha. Thank you so much in advance for any information you can provide me! Also is there anyway I could DM you about what recruiting companies you had a good experience with??
