Watching this 8 years later makes me wonder why everyone is so critical of Modern Warfare 2019’s campaign. I think MW2 and 3’s campaigns were just as if not more “Russophobic” or whatever retarded word they used. Plus we ended up signing an armistice and working alongside the Russians against the Al-Qatala after the main story and during the Spec Ops missions so it’s not like the Russians are all bad. You could argue in MW2 and 3, it was just a rogue part of the Russian population that supported Makarov that started the whole war. The same could be said about MW2019 except it’s General Barkov and his forces, not Russia as a whole. At the end when Farrah kills Barkov, the Russian government disowned him, which kind of points to the fact that he was in it for personal gain and wanted to destroy the West, the same way Makarov was in MW2 and 3. I actually prefer MW 2019 over MW1, 2, and 3 because while there are very obvious parallels you could draw between 2019, and 1, 2, and 3, 2019 is more grounded and more realistic (as realistic as CoD campaigns are, anyway) and you could definitely tell there’s certain things that were directly inspired by real events, like the White Helmets, civil war in Syria, even Farrah and the Urzikstanis are Syrian, only they’re from a country they just made up. The Wolf’s Den mission is directly based off of Zero Dark Thirty. The Embassy mission is literally 13 Hours but in a video game. So yeah, the people who cried about MW 2019 being “Russophobic” obviously didn’t play MW 1, 2, or 3 because they are probably even worse at portraying Russia as the ultimate bad guys because at least in 2019, we have a terrorist organization waging a war against both Russia and the West, which causes both to view AQ as a common enemy and team up.

Too many practical and tactical inefficiencies in this entire story. First off why would any nation state seeking peace launch a massive ground assault based on a chemical terror attack (Completely unrelated to them), even if it crippled it's enemies special forces defenses? Second; why in the fuck, would an ultra nationalist seek to destroy his opposing forces with pure strength? considering his consolidation of power, any proper tactician would wait until he held full power to just execute his enemies (because they've been internationally branded as terrorists).

Can't believe that aside the fact that Makarov got what he deserved in the end the Russians got to get away with killing millions of innocent people in America and Europe for the sake of Ultranationalist ideals and it's shocking that peace was still able to be established. Would be nice to see an alternate universe where despite Price killing Makarov the invasion of Europe could not be forgiven and destroyed the last hope for peace and Russia still stays under control of Ultranationalist extremism and the UN retaliates.
