I remember the Hawks home games on the radio only and it didn't even include the first period - broadcasts started at period 2. :( Sports and even news back in the day wasn't nearly as big as today - now they cover what the players had for breakfast and news covers what the Kardashians did at 10:30 yesterday.
This was the only AFL game that was not played in the 1960s.
With the parade of Pirate pitchers in this game, why didn’t Danny Murtaugh bring in Earl Francis? Love the combo of Chuck Thompson and Jack Quinlan.
awesome upload man thank you
This video call from 1988 what's one of the best calls I've heard Tony Roberts do. Great radio icons of our time when it comes to college football!
These old broadcasts are truly a joy
1:44:07 & 1:45:20 Boomer Esiason’s Barbasol ads (a staple of Westwood One’s NFL coverage in the 2000s)
2003 and 2004 sure was something in Tampa wasnt it? Bucs win the Super Bowl one year and then the Lightning win Lord Stanley a year later.
Gotta look at those helmets and the damage to the paint. What a war.
Wow, very impressive RUclips sports video
Thx for this.
Twenty years ago I had lunch with Jim Rose and Gary Sadlemyer. I asked them if KFAB taped Lyle’s call. They told me they did not. They told me the only recording of Lyle’s call was done by a teenage boy on his cassette recorder. Perhaps the greatest call of any Husker game.
at 2:59:00 I love the narrative: "Well, they'll talk about this for years to come, no matter how this play comes out...take it away Paul J..." :)
Those were the times
Love my dodgers miss listening to vin thanks for sharing great listen love listening to classic radio 📻 brodcasts even sweeter when they have the retro commercials 😎🔵💙
As originally broadcast on Los Angeles radio station KFI 640 AM with the legendary Vin Scully(1927-2022) and his longtime broadcast partner Jerry Doggett(1916-1997). ⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾🎙️📻🎙️📻🎙️😁😁😁😁😁

Which I apologize if I have asked before I have a short memory 😭
I never saw this game. I was 9 years old. I became a life long. Chiefs fan after. Superbowl 4. The raiders had these mythologyical players with long hair and beards!
The Last Showdown....AFL!
And then? They faced Lombardi's Packers.
Oakland Raiders 1967 AFL Champions
@@classicsportsrewind5770 Yes, they were. And then Packers crushed them.
In 5 days it will be the 50th anniversary of this most electrifying game I have ever seen. I was an 11 year old boy watching the ABC broadcast with the great Keith Jackson doing the play by play. I still have a copy of the Sports Illustrated with the cover screaming WHAT A COMEBACK!
thanks so much for uploading this. synching it with the abc broadcast
DO YOU HAVE A LINK?
The American Football League (AFL) was the best thing to ever happen to the National Football League (NFL) and to pro football in general. I am glad enough that I was old enough to actually remember watching this game as a 7 year old kid and then watching Super Bowl 4 the following week.
RIP Fernando. What a year he had in 1981.
This is very cool I hope you are having a great day today
Is there a radio broadcast of game 1 of nlcs.
a very good question...
