Impressive progress. This project is sailing along. It is WAYYYYYYYYYY overdue. The weather this Fall has been quite cooperative. Hopefully, they can work through Winter. How are the new tunnels coming?
The tunnel it self is in pre-construction and engineering phases. But there is work on constructiong starting, Effective Today Wednesday, November 27, pedestrian access along the east side of Tonnelle Avenue (northbound) will be changed to accommodate the next phase of construction www.northbergen.org/_Content/pdf/2024-11-25-Tonnelle-Pedestrian-Bridge-Construction-Notice.pdf
I can't wait till the bigger a$$ cranes they bring for the main span
Btw the first bridge section has already arrived
I saw the barge!!!
Cool to see Mammoet Jacking system ready to go. Gonna lift those entire bridge sections on those concrete piers
What's going on at the section that as a TON of concrete supports under it?
If you're talking about at 1:00, I was told it is for some sort of crossover track for when the Portal Bridge South is built.
@@TheRailwayDrone I was yeah. Thanks. Wish I could find the actual plans for the bridge.
Argg before trump gets in smokeing
It’s impossible for him to stop the gateway project. It has been already paid.
@@nickrodriguez8738Didn’t Chris Christie stopped something similar?
💸💸BOONDOGGLE 💸💸
Absolutely necessary for the continued operation of the railway, and surprisingly on budget and on schedule
Nice train video. Very stable. Here's our September 2024 update before the Arches. ruclips.net/video/5OUHukZn7_0/видео.htmlsi=65zZ1mxbBIefEdv8
Thanks, very nice video. Looking forward to riding over the bridge.
I used to live in West Virginia, and have ridden the Cap many times both into DC and westward to Chicago. It's not as scenic as some, but it's a pretty ride. The leg that goes from Cumberland, down the Yough to Pittsburgh is especially pretty...do it in the Summer (westbound) or it'll be dark. The eastbound leg from PGH to Cumberland is really pretty in the fall...just as the sun is coming up. The section from Harper's Ferry down to DC along the Potomac is also very nice! Best of all, you get to do Ohio in the dark...so you're not missing much there.
Thanks for sharing your experiences! It sounds like you’ve had some memorable journeys on the Capital Limited. I appreciate the tips on the best times to travel for the scenic views, especially the summer westbound trip and the fall eastbound leg. And I had to chuckle at your comment about Ohio in the dark-good to know! I hope to travel back out that way at some point. I enjoyed Cumberland too, the are revitalizing the downtown area. Thank you
You're welcome
Nice job. Progress!
Nice video Steel Magic. Sharing the September 2024 (West Side) Update: ruclips.net/video/5OUHukZn7_0/видео.htmlsi=65zZ1mxbBIefEdv8
The are readying the delivery of the arch bridges because you can see the equipment to jack the bridge up next to the big yellow crane. (Equipment is in red)
I rode the Carolinian - train 89 - across that bridge on a round trip from Charlotte to DC , in 1985.
Wow, 1985. That brings me back to the future. I miss that decade.
What's gonna happen to the old right of way?
The old right of way for the Portal Bridge will be decommissioned and removed once the new North Portal Bridge is fully operational. It will still have the same capacity limitation of 24 trains per hour. This is because the new bridge is part of the existing two-track system, which is already operating at full capacity during peak hours. Essentially, the new bridge eliminates the need to swing open for passing ships, which regularly gets stuck or jammed. To truly increase capacity, a second bridge is on the drawing board, known as the Portal South Bridge. This bridge is part of a broader plan that includes a line extension. However, the Portal South Bridge is currently unfunded and remains on the drawing board.
Why not 2 feet higher?!
Good question! The new Portal North Bridge is designed to be 50 feet above the Hackensack River to allow marine traffic to pass underneath without interrupting rail service. Building the bridge 2 feet higher isn’t necessary because the current design already meets the required clearance for river traffic.
Thank you for posting that!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for commenting.
The police are on the vessel, investigating a dead body
It’s in Newark now…they found a dead body
I see that it arrived today in Newark, but that is all I know.
And poof, it’s gone!!
What days do they run on?
They run regularly during on weekdays.
Doesn't look like you crossed the gate to hell...
Great video. I subscribed to your channel as well!
Thanks for the sub!
Cool
A four track bridge is what is really needed, but any progress is greatly appreciated,
The future Portal South Bridge Project will add two additional tracks for a total of four after both bridges are completed.
Looks like a lot of progress since I last went to NYC.
Progress is going along
