I love this video! I’m going to be studying at KCL Denmark Hill in September!!
Hope you loved it I was also there last September!
The stares were unreal
Best cocktails of my lifee
That ice cream man 😫😫
What is the visiting situation like (pre covid)... are they rlly strict with people staying over?
I don’t know I have only been there during COVID I assume you could have visitors
During second and third year, do King’s students normally move into shared accommodation e.g. renting a flat or house with other people like at Manchester?
Hiya, well I’m moving out second year but it’s acc a mix there were a decent amount of second years and third years in accoms but majority is first years and majority first years move out :) hope this helps
@@afterthethemesong cheers for the quick reply, that’s really helpful to know. You gonna have to commute into uni? And is it more expensive to move out of accommodation?
@@conor0312 it wouldn’t be any more distance than from where I was 1st year. It depends on a lot like how many people you live with, the place , bill etc but rn I’m pretty sure where am I’m gonna live second year is cheaper than accommodation
@@afterthethemesong alright sweet, cheers for the help I really appreciate it
LMFAO This feels like I'm literally on a facetime call with u I love your vlog
Stop lmaooo I love your personality 😭I'm studying abroad at King's College and have been looking at accommodation vids for like days now, ty for this
I’m gonna be at kings too what course?
love the vid... what is the wifi situation at JM? is it fast and is it unlimited?
It’s unlimited it isn’t always fast tho sometimes it acts up
Hey Madeline, great vid. I hope u can help me out here, will begin my MA at KCL this september and not sure what accomodation to go for. Some factors: 1 wont go over £300/w. I dont want a single 90cm bed nor bunk bed. I’d prefer to not get 51 weeks con but rather like 40, which I see several offer = ~10k for my year. Any advice? Currently looking at SSA, JM, GDS, AL and MP. Cheers from Norway!
Wait no nvm SSB and GDS is only available to first year undergrads. Fuck. So Julian, Angel and Moonraker then. Do you know if its more normal to rent privately when on your masters btw? Is acommodations mainly for bachelor/undergrad students? I only want it because of the networking benefits tbh. Thanks again, hope you can help.
@@djmagzbtd i lived with master students it’s the same price but majority of people in the accom are in undergrad however now that stuff is changing I dunno how that will impact it now
hey! im studying abroad at kings this fall for a year and idk what to expect AHHH. anyway lol when booking accommodation, Julian Markham was one of my only options so I kinda had to pick that one. how and when will I know if I have a street view or room view? ALSO this video was suuuuper helpful
Thank you and congrats on getting in 😭✋🏿 hopefully it treats you well honestly idk, it’s by chance I got a street facing room the first time round but then I requested it when I had to move out. I feel like when everyone moves out you’ll be able to ask them because they can check
@@afterthethemesong okay thanks! and by move out do you mean at the end of the school year or like during the school breaks?
@@nataliesanchez3572 like end of the year x
do they allow people to stay over? ngl though angel sounds shite but I applied there due to little space smh. it was either angel or sharing bathrooms in wolfson or whatever Heugh may I ask though, what does ABE 180d MEAN? like how do I make sure I get nice lighting? like what hundred are you living on that gives you a nice view
Not yet they said they are reviewing it before COVID they did tho
@@afterthethemesong thanks, do u have any answers or idea for the other q?
@@ItsHilinsDiary because I don’t live angel lane idk sorry :(
@@afterthethemesong oh really? omg the accommodation looks so similar
@@ItsHilinsDiary Yh they are both unite but they have different systems because JM is 1 building 7 floors but angel lane has like different blocks and within those blocks are different floors so idk their system
LMAO the ptsd in your eyes when you talked about the elevator!😂😭 Also how did you book your accommodation and when because the 4 step process...it's a struggle let's just say that...
It’s still broken... they giving us 5% of our rent back because it might not be fixed when we MOVE OUT 😐😐😐 I can’t even remember pretty sure you log into the portal and press book and then pick what you want and then after that you get some form of confirmation that then you sign the contract and pick a move in day :/ hopefully that helps in bad at introductions but so is KCL so lol but I think you long into the accommodation portal then press book
i book my accommodation tomorrow so this was just in time hahaha thanku
Hey is there still rooms left ? I left it till last minute
I'm based in guys but after this (AND SOOOOOO many other reviews, y'all are brave fr fr), I can't live at JM, I would rather live at AL, but I don't know about me trekking to campus, etc. I'm in the faculty of life sciences + med, and an undergrad webinar said we would mostly be based online except for practicals because we're in a panoramic... but I'm not sure if it's worth the risk going to AL :( . What's your opinion?
AL is nicer I’m ngl honestly it depends on how many practicals but with a oyster railcard or student oyster honestly the trek from AL to guys isn’t long but I can understand hesitation AL is honestly a nice place it’s just a bit far from everything but Westfield is nice honestly it rlly depends on you because I know prices of JM raised as well and the price they are offering I wouldn’t pay that for JM now
Book AL! Cheaper n we can commute together 🤣
@@carlafollett3451 Booked it 🤧
Urgent thank you so much for being honest! I have firmed kings for sept and i heard that gds is worse accom (esp the bathroom) but it is a lot better for social life then Julia markham, what do you think?
I mean it’s Covid so social life is meh everywhere and I am pretty much excluded from what is happening at JM so I can’t really speak on that. But the GDS bathrooms are wet rooms so they aren’t like a shower cubicle you get at JM it’s a drain and the shower head
this was so helpful!! thank u❤️
Anytime x
thank you!!
You're welcome!
Hair😍😍
thank youuu
i'm going to book JM but i'm so nervous about getting on w my roomates? Has there been any trouble for you?
also, i'm worried about the safety aspect - do you think the area is okay/ safe?
Sorry for this late reply I have an update video on it
Hey! I'm booking accom atm and was wondering if JM is worth its price..? I also heard about pretty bad silverfish infestation could u let me know if thats true? Thank you!
ooh could you also please comment on the safety of the elephant & castle area plss
@@yushen486 hey I’m gonna be making a video on this it should be out 12-14th of April but just quick review the silver fish thing is true. I personally haven’t seen one but a lot of people have. Also E&C is actually alright I haven’t had an issues, it’s like any London place so quite safe. Due to the events in Clapham I try to be more safe and not rlly walk alone at night
@@afterthethemesong thank you so so much! wishing you all the best <3
Guys should I do an update video !
Yesss
Yesss!! Also if you could like an 'assumptions' video about like all the accommodations at KCL based on your opinion that would be fun because you have a humorous personality! XD
omg bye i was laughing this whole vid ur so funny💀💀 also love the tour i was lowkey thinking of moving to that accommodation so this rlly helped!!
Loved the video! What are you studying ?and what accommodation is this?
Thank you :) I study psychology and this is Julian markham house :)
@@afterthethemesong i’ve got an offer for psychology and was considering JM is it a good place to be??
@@ShanayAlice hey! Welcome to the gang :) it’s pretty decent like I give it like a 6.5/10 I think I’ll make an update video for everyone deciding if you want a more in detail description DM me :)
@@afterthethemesong would love an update video tysm!!! :-)
@@ShanayAlice okay :) wait do you know the deadline for picking accom so I’m not too late 😭💔
