In the whole dialogue, she's leaning somewhere, tilting her head, smiling and is, overall, very expressive, especially with her face. Except for one sentence.

"I'm not your Mary"....staring into blackness where her eyes are

OG Maria - Uncanny aura, eerie but playful and seductive. A ghostly stranger reminiscent of his dead wife. Has you caught in between mild fear and intrigue. Obvious feminine allure.. 8.5/10 Woke Maria - Cold and plain looking with a constant look of annoyance towards James. Mid delivery of lines, has an air of arrogance not confidence. Misproportioned and leans towards slightly masculine features.. 6/10

It’s super disturbing when you remember what the Mary boss’s natural form looks like. That thing is constantly inside this Maria form and is walking besides James in a false innocence. Though, at the same time, given the Born From A Wish storyline, it seems like it’s not Maria’s false she even exists.

This scene always resonated so much with me. Especially the "I'm not your Mary." In such a spiteful and jealous tone. The way my life is going right now I feel the way she said that in my soul. I'm NOT your dead wife, and I'm TIRED of you acting like I am. I've played nice until now but I'll start showing it if you keep walking all over me. Just one line made me feel all that and that's why this game is so important.

This was such a brilliantly written and acted scene. We are as confused as james because of the way Maria is acting. But also completely entranced by her when she got "sexy." LOL. Props to the voice actress who played Maria

I like how the shadows cover her eyes, it gives a creepy touch, similar to James at the start of the game when he starts questioning reality. And, because she is gaslighting him here, where in the remake she looks bored, almost as if she's scolding a student.

Had to rewatch to make sure -- Yep, this is still an amazing scene that makes me hang onto every word... But the remake didn't make me feel the same. Here's hoping the remake is amazing despite the differences, but I believe she will forever be the best Maria.

I knew the remake could never reach what the original have done. The pauses between the dialogue makes the conversation strange and out of place, when in reality it's Mary and Maria personality switching between each other. In the remake it's fast and souless, Maria sounds like a robot. The shadows in Maria eyes with her soft voice after what happened in the elevator makes the scene scary, mysterious and haunting. In the remake it's bright and with a very fast dialogue and they even changed Maria design. At least Akyra Yamaoka is behind the soundtrack and people can play a new Silent Hill game. Better that than see SH becoming a panchiko machine...

I don't understand why people in the comments saying this is better than the remake. From the technical aspect (I mean, the audio quality) it absolutely outdated, and also this scene feels bland, like if two people just sat at a record studio talking to each other. I do like the VA though. But I also liked what they're doing in the remake. At least as far as things are going in the trailer, Maria's voice sound like she's right in James' head, because of that echo. I can't wait and see what the final version would be.

Just watched the story trailer for the remake and had to come and rewatch this to cleanse myself. Her delivery was perfection here, and the direction of the scene with the shadows and her piercing eyes is terrifying. The new one is pure cringe.

Not even joking..I'm gonna have to play/watch the OG scene when I reach this segment when I'm playing the remake and put the new one on mute because the new one is absolutely garbage. The OG has so much more character, skillful VA, she laughs before saying "you were always so forgetful" as if she's really the embodiment of Mary. What have they done to one of the most important scenes in the game. Can't believe it. Just make the VA and delivery 1:1 with the original..its not rocket science.

Gameplay of the remake looked solid but the story trailer absolutely shit on this scene. Had to come back and double check, and still got chills watching this. Ah well.

Just me, or is James' delivery of "Stay right there, I'll be there soon" a little pointed? Like he knows damn well he's lost control of the situation, and it's his way of at least showing he has some control over that moment. And no duh she's not going anywhere, she's locked in a cell, but we just saw her get murdered not that long ago. It's almost like it's James' subtle way of saying "Stop messing with my head and we'll get along better." Maybe that's expecting a lot from James but he's shown himself to be pretty calculating when he perceives that he's being treated unfairly, whether it's true or not

Fun Fact: maria is actually christina aguilera. In a photoshoot you see christina aguilera with the same clothes maria used and the hair also looked kinda the same. You can search this up on silent hill wiki and search for the character: maria.

This scene is so fucking creepy. The lighting, lack of music, the mystery... actually incredible. The fact that this is a ps2 game and the cutscenes graphics make the characters look ALMOST real is somehow scary too. I cant quite describe it.
