    I'd heard O'Donnell said something to Clyde along the lines of a racial slur. Not sure if it's true, but Clyde doesn't charge at anyone in anger on the court, as a Blazer fan in those days he never did that.

    Drexler was only a Half step behind jordan, and the reason why I say that is because Drexler didn't have a Scottie Pipen like player on his team , nor a Coach like Phil Jackson.

    It's interesting to note that 1998 was his last year as an NBA player, but it's evident from this 1997 footage that he had plenty left in the tank

    Clyde won game 4 and 5 against utah. Hakeem did his thing but clyde was the MVP of this series. They dont get past the first round without clyde. Getting rid of maxwell seemed to loosen him up. Of course hakeem carried the rockets the rest of the playoffs. What a time it was to live in Houston

    Clyde was such a versatile player, he could impact the game in multiple ways, one of the few shooting guards that was elite in all aspects of the game. He could have scored even more points in Portland but Drexler was a team player, and that allowed the other players to develop as well.

    This is a prime example of what Michael Jordan was without Rodman or Horace Grant. Great player but needed other great players to win. The only difference between him and other great players was the NBA needed a golden child and decided it would be him. He got all the media hype (not to mention the phantom calls from the referees)

    • @bubufubu
      @bubufubu 5 месяцев назад

      @coldsnap5742 Yeah, no reasonable person threatens someone else with assault and battery and then expects the other person not to hold a grudge. Further, O'Donnell says he was never officially suspended (he asked several times) and they continued to pay him for the rest of the playoffs.

  • @benyah3390

    People often say: "what if Jordan and Olajuwon played together" Well it wouldn't be too far off from what we see here with Clyde. What people don't think about is, Pippen took a lot of the responsibility off of Jordan, whereas Clyde had to do everything for his team. When Clyde and Jordan matched up one on one with no Pippen in the equation, Drexler cooked Jordan as much as Jordan cooked him. So if Houston picks Clyde in the '83 draft at #3 instead of Rodney McCray; we'd had seen this type of play 11 years earlier.
