First of all what kind of rod where you useing/mig (if you ran mig wich i highly doubt but got to make sure) and what kind of voltage did you use?
It was a stick weld. 1/8” 190 amp. Thank you for comment and watching.
It would be an advantage to be able to grease hinges
Sorry I forgot to cover that. The hinges are set up to grease. I’ll add that into the next video. Thanks for watching.
Slick but maybe on a bbq or a man gate not a trailer
No meat left in the collar!
That trailer is a menace to the Republic.
Got Dang. Let’s see that hitch setup 😮
I came to the comments to see what the weld troops say😂
They have been very expressive over this project. Thanks for watching
Longer pin and it would be extra slick
U got a lot of trust in a quarter inch of metal
Dude welded without gas or a fan directly on it tf
That's not going to end well.
A peice of loose rebar would hold better then this, especially with that weak ass spring or joint or however thats done, plus a safety pin is required by DOT law to be static, and have a secondary mechanism to prevent the first from coming undone, this is entirely illegal and out of regulation and is gonna get some one hurt because you'd rather be a jackoff then buy a $15 dollar safety pin with a cotter pin and you probably used triple that in material and welding gas. Just stop trying to fix shit that doesn't need it. Wish you posted your license plate so this can be reported to DOT
Not secure enough..
We have had serval comments about adding additional safety chain. Thanks for the comment
@ScenicLandscapingINC. Maybe make the pin a bit longer.. I like the idea but I do feel like it needs a bit more for it to work better 👍 I haven't seen anything like that available on the market.. just needs to be a bit more secure and I could see this being used in different applications like fence gates and trailers..
Wow that’s too cool. Great job. Love the welds. Top notch job.
Thanks for watching
@ScenicLandscapingINC. I love the idea. Might need just a little bit more bite.. For bumpy roads and long drives.. Very good job tho!!
I would not trust them welds if anything wtf
Great design, im a little concerned about the strength with so little overlap and being down low, that entire ramp can act as a lever arm.
Good point. Several people have mentioned a safety chain. Thank you for your thoughts.
Nice but you drive by a bush and it opens
I think we will have to make some type of safety chain. Thanks for your comment. Thanks for watching.
Ingenuity 10/10 welds 2/10
Dang ole I’ll tell you hwhat
Hey lock it down or itll vouce out and grind your gate off seena dummy in dallas one time had it happen to them
Got these on the cattle yards. The only difference is ours have locking pins, because a 500kg cow is gonna knock that bitch open without a locking pin. Pls fix it before you kill someone on the road.
GRINDER AND PAINT MAKES YOU THE WELDER YOU AINT 😂
You sound like Puddin
@joethanks3745 ?🤷♂️
That's brilliant
Thank you. Thanks for watching
“I tell you hwhat inat slick eh ah” 😂
Don't brush up on a bush it will open
Funny you said that. I had that thought also. Thanks for watching
People always think they have a better idea than the people that build stuff for a living. I’m sure trailer manufacturers have thought of this and don’t do it for the reasons you’re going to find out.
i love it, that's a neat solution. however i do recommend returning to the scene of the crime with some sikaflex 😂 (sorry, couldn't help myself with that one)
Your drop in pin isn’t long enough. I would also add a swinging lock on the top to ensure that pin doesn’t move up when you hit a bump.
Good idea thank you
Most effective when the trailer is NOT in motion.
Let me know how that pin works out. I'm guessing it snaps after a bit. Just at the angle.
Now make a devise to automatically return the pin to lock mode after you drop the gate.
That’s a great idea. Thank you
@@ScenicLandscapingINC.And maybe make the pin a bit longer, and add a spring for constant downward tension when it's closed so a bump doesn't pop it open.
These comments are savage 😂
Yes they are.
Them welds are shit
Those welds are criminal 😳
They sure will be when they bust on the freeway and you lose your entire load of gravel and damage 6 cars 😊
@@AToneForOurSinswhy tf would you put gravel on a trailer with holes in the tailgate and no sideboards lmao I’m sure this fella isn’t taking this thing on the highway and it’ll work just fine for whatever little jobs he needs it for.
Thats not gonna hold at all 😂 even if you welded the pin down, its holding on by less than the tolerance of the tailgate hinge. Keep trying
Your gonna hit a speed bump and that gate is gonna hit the ground.
Don't think it's going surve any bump might think about putting a little chair yo help hold 😂
That’s a really good idea. Thanks
One bump, you gonna have a serious problem! There's a reason shits locked in tight!
It’s spring loaded
Nothing about that metal work is slick ..
Shit lock would not install on my trailer
Take a welding class
Or at least start with turning the gas on
Me likey. Little rough around the edges but me likey.
1 bump away fro losing your entire load.
That's what your mother told me.
@@ptwohig that’s funny
Everything is strapped down nice try lol. it's just a ramp for a golf cart, lawnmower, or something like that
@@ptwohig😆
It seems like that but as long as the gate or the pin cannot lift up from vibration going down the road there is no way that would come undone
💪🏽 USA baby 🤘
Geotextile fabric is the reccomend fabric.
Works great for making regatta
