    Retro game hunting in japan is leagues above everywhere else in the world in my experience. Also game hunting in Tokyo especially in Akihabara is much cheaper than in many parts of the world and you may find rare titles not available everywhere else. But a lot of Tokyo stores are overpriced by "Japan" standards.

    So many don't see the issues. Many have gone retro. Finding that the good games never really go on sales online. For example call of duty black ops 2 never really goes on sale. Its been $60 for last 6 years. I've never seen a sale despite checking regularly. I think the online sales are a bit overrated IMHO. The games on sale are usually unwanted games.

    • @8-bits-ago

      Nintendo games also have the same price for a long time after being released and that's the reason I kinda prefer to purchase them physically because if I don't like the title I may sell it with not so big loss at the end.

  • @kai-lele3328
    @kai-lele3328 2 месяца назад

    I agree that for consoles that it's better to buy physical than digital, but the problem with modern physicals is that you have to update them or you won't have a full game. There's also the problem with dlcs and how many physicals don't get "the complete" edition anymore. This isn't a problem with older games of course. Also when it comes to indie games on steam for example, there is also the feeling of "hunting" for a new game if you're looking for something unique because there's a ton of good indie games out there now and the only way those are published are digital anyway, so you have no choice. Some indies do get physicals, but it's very rare or the studio have extra money to take that risk. I think that's why I normally go digital and the fact that I pretty much only buy games when they're on sale since everything is getting more and more expensive. In an ideal world I would also buy my switch games physical, but again, there's the problem of modern games never releasing finished and there's only so much replayability with old games until you wanna try something new.

    • @8-bits-ago
      @8-bits-ago 2 месяца назад

      Hello Kai! Thank you so much for your comment; it means a lot to me! Yes, I know it’s a big challenge with modern games. Concord is a good example of a pointless physical release. That’s why I mainly focus on NS, PS4 and older platforms to have a higher probability that the disc will contain the full game data. There’s also a website that gathers this kind of information, so you can check if some rare games on PS3 require a patch or anything. I totally understand about buying indie games on Steam or the Nintendo Switch. It even creates a bit of a dilemma because companies like Limited Run Games or Red Art Games may charge $30-$40 for a physical release of a game you can buy for $5 or less digitally. However, my issue is that I often collect these digital titles in my virtual libraries only to… not play them, especially nowadays when my time is more limited. I think it makes sense for me to buy more expensive games occasionally or collect retro ones from my childhood rather than buying tons of cheap indie games. I might feel like I’m saving money, but in reality, their quantity can become overwhelming. Which indie game, in your opinion, deserves a physical release? :)

But if you can take a 15 min train ride to ikebukuro or shinjuku you can find same selections for cheaper. Tourist areas will always be more expensive for the sole reason that it’s “the place to go”. @8-bits-ago 2 месяца назад

      @@SlimAdventures Thank you for the question; it’s a very valid one! I can, of course, mainly speak for myself and add a hypothesis as to why other people enjoy collecting Japanese editions. Personally, I have a lot of nostalgia for NTSC-J games, as I played those in my childhood. If a game is primarily arcade-style, playing it doesn’t pose much of a challenge, and, in fact, you can often save quite a bit compared to PAL or NTSC-U editions. In terms of collecting trends, more and more people are opting to buy Japanese games still in shrink wrap. Here, two factors matter: first, the price of such games is STILL often lower, and second, Japanese editions are often the very first releases. In collecting, the original versions are often valued, which is why, for example, I really like my sealed Japanese edition of Yakuza 3 (Ryu Ga Gotoku). Of course, as a European, I also collect a lot of games in local editions, and games with Polish covers are closest to my heart. But Japan holds a certain magic for me. :) How do you collect?

      @SlimAdventures 2 месяца назад

      @@8-bits-ago well said, I enjoy everything about your response! It’s good to see RUclipsrs with real passion and not just solely out for clicks and likes. As an American foreign games aren’t as common as I would imagine they are in Europe. @8-bits-ago 2 месяца назад

      @@SlimAdventures Thanks for the kind words! RUclips is still just a hobby for me, so my only fuel comes from comments like yours. :) One more reason that just came to mind regarding NTSC games is that in Europe, we used to have slowed-down gameplay in games like Tekken 3 compared to the US and Japan. So, if I want to play those games on original hardware at 60 FPS, it’s definitely better to go for the Japanese or American releases. If I’m correct, Kao the Kangaroo should be available on PS2. Kao is basically a Polish icon and a mascot, similar to Crash or Mario, but, of course, on a local scale. Grab it if you like platform-adventure games! :)

    I don't want to be rude, but I don't notice an increase in views by changing the content to English. But I still wish you good luck. (I have no bad intentions in writing this)

      No worries. You are not rude at all. :) It's definitely too early to say tho. We have to give the algorithm some time to process. Check my RUclips Shorts. They have started to perform quite good after just a few days. Long content requires more time.
