UTAS Studio Apartments, Hobart. (NRAS)
Made this video for anyone planning to rent the UTAS studio apartments on 157 Elizabeth Street in Hobart. The UTAS student living website lacked a great deal of information about the rooms and finding a photo or a video of the room was absurdly difficult; This is why I made the video. Apologies about the video quality/janky editing it was made very quickly.

Snowing in Launceston, Tasmania
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.4 года назад
A rare snowfall that happened on the 4th and 5th of August 2020 in Launceston, Tasmania.
fantastic video
I've accepted accommodation at Melville Street as it was the only offer I received. It's $60 more and I can't apply for the NRAS. Did you apply for Hobart Apartments under that scheme? I'm a mature aged student and a sizeable studio would be desired. They didn't have much information on Hobart apartments.
What size is the bed? A double?
Tysm!! <3 can you tell me what the room comes with(like the bed or something) and how much it would cost on average to decorate?
it comes with a bed, microwave/convection oven and fridge. In terms of decoration, you could spend as much or as little as you wanted I guess; doesn't take much just a few plants/artworks and you're good!
@@nickel7564 thanks this definitely helped
Such a helpful video! Is there much of a community here? Like living rooms, common areas etc for people to meet in/hang out?
yeah, theres lots of communal spaces (lots of lounges with tvs etc) where students congregate and they often run events where you can meet other people who are staying there (like paint and sip etc).
Thank you so so much! I'm considering attending and finding comparisons to other uni rooms has been impossible (LOVE THE KEYBOARD TOO, NOW I KNOW CAN BRING MY MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS ALONG TOO)
Can spouse stay also?
No they can't.
thank you for this! i'm looking at studying at UTAS (a little last minute, i know lol) and haven't been able to find any proper pictures or videos of the hobart apartments. it looks big and well-designed! thank you.
It the microwave a convection microwave or a regular one?
It's a convection microwave.
So thankful for your video! Extremely limited photos/videos of rooms supplied by UTAS. Just a couple of questions, does the studio apartment come furnished and does the desk connect to the wall or can a monitor stand attach to the back of the desk?
It comes with a double bed, fridge, microwave/convection oven and a desk chair (I think that's all). I'm pretty sure the desk was connected to the wall.
How much is the additional wifi, if you've used it, and can you use your own router and wifi?
So if you're accessing UTAS sites like MyLO you can use the internet for free providing you have your login details. From memory the internet I paid for was like $40 a month unlimited and high speed. Unsure if you can use your own router/wifi.
Thanks for your video! Very helpful. It looks very spacious too. I have applied for Hobart Apartments for 2022. Melville apartments are so nice although definitely smaller.
Hi Tara I too applied for 2022 just paid my deposit .. Looking forward to it
Thinking of studying here, though Monash was my first choice - covid stuffed up my plans
Is it on 157 Elizabeth Street or Brisbane Street? Thanks.
The apartment blocks are along Elizabeth Street and Brisbane Street. It is confusing but there are few roads surrounding the place.
hows the apartment? is it good? quite? and good spot for study?
Yeah it's good and very quiet the perfect spot for study.
@@nickel7564 Well i guess, time to come to tasi. is it hobart apartments? when i apply which building to choose for this large studios?
@@nickel7564 which is a quieter place? Melville or Hobart apartments? I have seen ur comments on studio size, beside the studio size, is there any thing you believe make a difference in decision making ?
@@aiart3453 Perhaps the Hobart apartments are quieter but there's not much difference. In terms of picking an apartment complex I would say there's really not much difference, they are both good and quiet enough for study etc. If I was telling someone where to go, I would say go with the slightly cheaper price which would be the Hobart apartments.
@@aiart3453 You would pick Hobart apartments which are in the CBD.
Do you get guaranteed accomodation at UTAS next year too?
Yes you do.
why are you're plants taking a shower ?!
they have to get clean somehow! (but really, just watering them)
@@nickel7564 lol well nice modern place
I'm currently deciding between Hobart Apartments and 42 Melville St but the information on them is quite minimal. Especially when it comes to photos/videos. Do you recommend HA or would you have rathered a 42 Melville studio?
Yeah the information provided by utas acomodation is pretty poor. I didn't get to tour the studio apartments at 42 Melville Street, but I've been in the foyer of the building and walked around and I thought it was pretty nice. The main reason I chose Hobart apartments is because the studio apartments are larger then those at 42 Melville. But if I wasn't concerned with having a slightly more spacious room I would've gone to 42 Melville.
@@nickel7564 Ah amazing! Thank you for the info. I'm still torn haha I better make my decision soon or I'll miss out on both haha
How much is rent ?
$277 weekly, utilities included. You can find this out on the UTAS acomodation website.
@@nickel7564 thanks😀
@@nickel7564 nice place but too much
@@nickel7564 How much is the gym? x
@@sophiebeth488 no gym at the accommodation, they have a treadmill that anyone can use, but that's about it. Depends where you're studying, if you study on the sandy bay campus there's a uni gym there that is $18 a fortnight. I studied at the menzies centre, so I just went to Zap Fitness which is like 40 meters away for the same price.
What part of Launceston mate
It was a rare day
Some really beautiful images there, thank you for sharing.
