The first Knives Out was a theatrical Lionsgate release and its success is what made Netflix jump aboard and order sequels. Plus Glass Onion and multiple Netflix releases did get a limited theatrical release, so that those films can be eligible for awards season.

I thought the all the acting was good, as was Gaga's singing, and the cinematography while not noteworthy was fine. I even think it was an intentional choice for Pheonix to be off key at times, so I can't hold that against him as an actor. The story... oh boy. I'm coming at this as someone who thought the first was a shallow and predictable character exploration (same acting and cinematography comments apply), but still found this one actively worse for seemingly having contempt of anyone who dared like the first while being even more shallow.

Let’s be real here the first one was shit ! it wasn’t a joker movie it wasn’t the story of the joker it was the film makers trying to make a point about what society has come to and that’s not a fun movie to watch.. it didn’t feel like a joker movie it didn’t feel like it was even in the DC universe it just felt like turning the news on today in America .. both movies were trash and the Robert Paterson Batman is fkin awful ! It’s killed the franchise

Just wanna mention - although all the trailers for the 2016 Suicide Squad movie were great, the first Comic Con 2015 trailer was the original intended tone for the actual movie - a somber, serious and personal character study. Writer-Director David Ayer made this movie akin to his prior movie Fury (2014), but after Deadpool's success and BvS' negative critical reception, Warner Bros butchered this movie in post-production. They mandated Ayer to rewrite and reshoot scenes, cut out majority of Jared Leto's Joker, Katana, Diablo and others, handed over the editing to the company who made those trailers and so on. David Ayer's original director's cut of the movie has around 45 mins of never before seen footage, and he has publicly stated it doesn't need a significant amount of movie to polish and release his cut, but there's been no signal from WB or DC Studios, but I hope we get to see it someday. It's an interesting movie but bogged down by horrible editing and pacing.
