I live 20 miles from the mid-way point of the Blue Ridge Parkway and have spent most of my life roaming the Blue Ridge Mountains. In 1995 I hiked the Appalachian Trail and soon learned how much I loved these small mountain towns.
My rides will be about the downtown area of small mountain town of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the back roads that lead to them

Highlights, Part 7

Highlights from earlier videos of my rides through Blue Ridge Mountain towns. Some have been small, and some have been large. Some are old towns with a lone and rich history, and some are young towns with a young history, and some are not towns, but communities. Whatever the case they are places where people are born and raised and that’s what makes a town, city, or community special.

Front Royal is the county seat of Warrer County, Virginia and its only incorporated town with a population of around 15,000 people. It's locted along I-66, US-340 and US-522 at an elevation of 568 feet. This is the lowest elevation of any of the towns I have visited in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Great video thank you
It's a virtual ghost town. Drug problems. You don't want to go there.😮
John I enjoy your videos. They are so informative. I have a few questions I would like to ask you regarding Lexington and Virginia. Please private email me so we can chat.
Amazing place ........... i saw from bangladesh
My Grandmother was raised here. I am very interested in the town> Thank you
It's been over 20 years since I've been back to Benton... my grandparents had a farm where the new Polk Co. High School sits and I spent every summer down there as a child. It truly seemed like the summers lasted forever back then. I am a direct descendant of Col. William M Biggs, who was the first clerk of the court for Polk County. Thanks for the video, John.
I live about 7 miles from the Blueridge Music Center (MM 213) and always find it easier to figure out locations on the BRP if I know what the mile markers are at the location.
Man I lived here and I miss the good old shops on 340
So glad that mother nature mermaid had the final word in that town.
Interesting music choice🤔
Bonito video y hermoso lugar
It is McCaysville GA Not Mclayesville.
I live in California now but, I was born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley area. I know these roads like the back of my hand. Good times in this town. My first job was at the IGA grocery store across from the family dollar.
How much years has the town?
My grandfather was a bootlegger from traphill and went on to become a world famous ultra runner. Red spicer. I live in Texas but recently found out about my family ancestry and they're all from traphill and wilkesboro NC.
You have recorded what is now a beautiful memory.
My late husband’s hometown and my first hometown here in the US. Will visit there sometimes.. ❤
Hope you're ok.
Just saw a tour of this town after the hurricane. Seeing what it looked like before really shows how devastating it was
Grew up there many many moons ago. Granny taught school there.
I live there.
Great video
I miss this area of TN, think I’ll move there
You've done them all or most all!!!😊
Thanks for this video!😊 What about Salem Virginia?
Thanks for this very good video! 🎉
Hope your family had a fun trip. I'd been wondering where your bike went. 😊
Talk about misinformation 😮
That is Ground Hog Mountain not Cumberland knob😢
Why does it say North Carolina when this is only in Virginia???
We oldtimers call it Rutherf'ton.
This is my home town. Live right on the main street beside the church. Beautiful place.
I live 5min from where the parkway ends and Skyline drive starts in Waynesboro VA.Hell I can see the mountain from my yard. Sad part is I don't know any of the places you filmed . I don't think I've been on the Blue ridge parkway in 50yrs. When you live here you kinda take those types of roads and views for granted.😢
I have some great photos of Mabry Mill I have taken over the years and the food was great
One of the many nice rides in and around the Tri Cities of NE Tennessee. We love the area since moving here.
Normally I post "hey from Hayesville".... TY for doing this. Currently I am in Atlanta but since all of my dad's family are still there, we visit quite often.
WELCOME TO MY HOME TOWN
Did you know that Dillsboro has a true vampire legend story from the 1700s that's true you should do a fallow up video about the legendary vampire only one vampire except From being killed
Soon I'm going to that high school for middle school
Floyd was named JacksonVille back in the day, not Jackson
Thanks for your vid. Shenandoah is fun and relaxing to ride. It makes an interesting bookend with Smoky Mountain Park at the other end of Blue Ridge Parkway. I don't know which is better, Shenandoah has great views and less crowds while Smoky has spectacular views and more technical riding but is far more crowded.
visited many, many times..purchased the Senior Lifetime pass when we got to that time in our life....Great photo opps for me there
Very small town , not much to do , people are friendly there , the court house he did not show is were the towns people have there events .Every Friday the shop owners closed there stores after work and the towns people will enjoy some good ole music . I love geographics of this town as it is only 20 minutes to Blairsville Ga , and 32 minutes from Murphy NC as Murphy is the last city West of NC and your closed to Tenn essee as you will be from Murphy NC 20 minutes from Duck town Tennessee . We have not decided were to move to either Hayesville or Murphy , as there is more to do in that town .
Cool
Nice video, love the sound tract!
Pretty little town. Thanks for the ride.
