My uncle had an all-Jersey herd in Modesto Ca that was adjacent to an all-Guernsey dairy. They milked about 800-1,000 Guernseys. Into the 60s, they went after the milk volume and introduced more and more Holsteins into the herd. I loved the contrast of Jersey vs. Guernseys, both beautifully colored in their own way.

I have recently returned from the Seychelles. The best part of my holiday was observing the fruit bats flying off at sunrise and returning at sunset. I was very saddened to see fruit bat on the menu. One lady said they only eat it for special occasions such as weddings etc. I was horrified of course. Fruit bats are vegetarian and such lovely creatures. thank you for sharing this video. I glad to know this lady is doing her best for them.

She obviously adores her baby, but I'm not too sure she knows how to hold it or feed it even!! She does love it tho, and that's the right step...

We raise beef cattle, but also used to keep a Guernsey milk cow. She was gentle. Some of our neighbors had Holsteins, but another had Jerseys. Even if the cows are gentle, you have to keep watch on those dairy breed bulls!
