Dress codes also force students to dress according to the gender binary, which is especially harmful to LGBTQ student...

4:20 consent education is important, but not a substitute for Title IX education. Title IX is about the school's responsibility to provide a safe and equal learning environment, not about what may or may not have happened off campus.

We know of so many families who have had horrible experiences including our own. The schools blame the reporting students, minimize the harassment, and even retaliate against the student or family. Instead of protecting the students, they're concerned about their reputations and bad press. No wonder more students don't report and suffer in silence--or worse.😡

I was struck by his statement that sexual harassment and assault are community problems that bleed into all our lives. That it also impacts students who witness or hear about it, making them anxious and unable to concentrate. When students drop out, the estimated cost to taxpayers for each student is $272,000. Not to mention the personal misery and loss of human potential.

Lauren's courage and advocacy work is truly an inspiration. Listen to survivors and their families! Lauren's experience of institutional betrayal is, tragically, all too common. Few people understand the nightmare that sexual harassment and assault can cause to survivors, their families, and friends unless they have experienced it. We can prevent this by using the SASH Club and SSAIS resources, among many others.
