    How deep will these detect, I need to locate an underground 4" cast iron pipe about three to four feet deep and a steel rebar handle to a septic tank about the same distance underground will this work out well for that job?

      @Phil Huddleston I have used ga-52Cx for sale if you're interested?

      Hey Phil. Idk if your question was answered. A magnetic locator will detect the iron rebar at 4" if you have the gain near or at max. It will help if you know roughly where it's located. I work at Schonstedt tuning these bad boys and I noticed it can detect a ferrous rod the size of a D cell battery to around 5" or so.

      @@timothyhuffman281 Can the ga52cx locate a steel tank 4' deep?

    • @timothyhuffman281
      @timothyhuffman281 Год назад

      The 4' depth is no problem for a Cx. The only problem MAYBE is whether that steel material contains enough elements of ferrous material to be detected. Locators sense the Earth's magnetic fields effect on the item you're trying to find. Things like coins, copper or brass, for example won't detect. Personally, I have taken a Locator I've just turned and wave it at a steel bolt in the warehouse floor, for example, and the Locator screams pretty good so there's a good chance it will see a tank in the ground.

    do these work with non ferrous metals such as cast iron?

    • @schonstedt
      @schonstedt 5 лет назад

      Magnetic Locators only find ferrous metal targets. Pipe & Cable locators can be used to induce a current onto a the cast iron pipe though. I'd recommend looking into Rex at www.schonstedt.com/rex
