Richard's Journey with FTD (Frontal Lobe Dementia) - Episode #50 (10/02/24)
Until this past week I didn't realize what an impact that my Dad's videos were really having on others until I had people start commenting on RUclips and messaging me on Facebook thanking us for posting what we did for World FTD Awareness Week. It was very heartwarming to know what we are doing is making a difference and helping bring more awareness and showing others in the same situation that they are not alone in their own personal journey with this disease.
I have not been very active on RUclips the past year due to unexpectedly becoming a full-time caregiver to my Mom who has some permanent brain damage from being in her home with a carbon monoxide leak in it. I also help care for my ...

I wanted my final post for World FTD Awareness Week 2024 to end on a more positive note. My Dad may have Frontal Lobe Dementia but he doesn't let it define him. He has one of the most amazing attitudes and for that I admire him the most. He has taught me how to really live in the moment and to just go with the flow. The biggest piece of advice I can give others dealing with a loved one who has ...

Typically I choose to focus on the positive when I make update posts about my Dad. However, I felt the need to share this post with the group because people are always asking if there is a medication that can help with their loved ones behavior or outbursts. Work with their medical care team because there is sometimes a medication out there that will make a huge difference in their quality of l...

REPOST without Dad singing full songs. I thought I would share this compilation of short videos from September 2020 since it is World FTD Awareness Week. Richard Pontious had gone into the hospital because he was sick and he ended up having to get his gallbladder removed. Well the anesthesia they gave him really messed him up. Richard's Journey with FTD (Frontal Lobe Dementia) - Episode #46 (09/04/24) I can't believe it has been over a year since we posted an update video. This video was made in the driveway of my Dad's house when I was dropping him off after one of our visits. He is just getting over a bit of a cold so he doesn't look like his happy chipper self a bit sad. He talks about his day and what he did with me during our visit. He starts out talking about going for a ride to see a commercial beekeeper and their operation. It was funny because he sat in ...

Today we decided to do an impromptu video at Big Daddy's Homestead & Apiary, located in Valley View Ohio, where my Dad spends quite a bit of his time visiting and helping us out with projects. I had him give a quick tour of the apiary and the house and he talked about some of the projects that he has worked on recently. You should get him on a strict carnivore diet . I pray none of my children would use me as a way to build a RUclips channel to make money off of me and talk to me like a child 😡

You definitely have a right to your opinion! It's my Dad's choice to share his story and talk about his FTD with the hopes that it helps others that might be dealing with the same thing he is. As far as me talking to him as a child that's what works for him and he doesn't feel that way - we actually talked about this last night and he feels that I talk to him like a teacher and it helps him understand things better. As for making money for doing this you might want to gather facts first before making such a bold comment. We make no money doing this - we are doing it to educate others and show his progression. I hope you can find peace in whatever it is going on in your life before attacking someone else for doing what works for them in their life.

this week on rumble I saw a teaching by Dr. Bryan Ardis on how nicotinic acid is in foods naturally and you can buy supplements of this form of nicotine to combat symptoms of dementia and other health issues. I ordered one for myself this week after hearing his research. Nicotine is not addictive, but they add 3 additive substances to it to get people hooked. Blessings

I am truly sorry that this video upsets you for whatever reason; however, I do know how much my Dad understands and how he feels and hence why I say it because it helps calm him down. You are only seeing a few minute snippet of the situation. I hope you find peace and comfort in whatever it is that you are dealing with in your own life so you don't feel the need to lash out at others publicly because you have to own opinion and feel the need to try to shame them for what works in their case for something personal obviously going on in your own life. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

My husband has FTD as well. He's losing words, can't do any technology or drive but he's still amenable, making it easy to handle him. He still has good mobility which means we get to travel rather than he sit all day. His doctor says to keep doing what I'm doing as he's doing so well, therefore I've booked another 3 cruises. Ha ha. Of course the wheels might fall off tomorrow but we can't stop planning just because of "what if?" On the ship he wears a badge that says 'his name', that he's 'got dementia' and that 'words can confuse him.' People are usually kind, understanding and considerate when they know the situation. Also the shipping line uses medallions so if he gets lost its only a matter of finding his location in the app. We'll keep on keeping on while we can.

When he was first diagnosed he was very angry and didn't know how to handle it because he was forced to retire early and wasn't allowed to drive anymore. I am so sorry for the delayed response! I haven't been really active on RUclips for the past year due to becoming a full-time caregiver to my Mom and still helping with my Dad part-time. I am sorry to hear about your husband! Please feel free to reach out to me anytime to talk - my phone number is 216-509-1798.

I am so sorry for the delayed response! I haven't been really active on RUclips for the past year due to becoming a full-time caregiver to my Mom and still helping with my Dad part-time. I just posted a few new videos of Richard. He is holding strong. We are going to try and get in the habit of posting updates again on a regular basis because this past week for World FTD Awareness Week I posted videos on Facebook and didn't realize how many people were watching them and the impact it had on others to know they aren't alone in their own situation.
