This was made before they repainted her. Apparently they discovered bits of the original 1805 "Nelson Checquer" sandwiched in between the layers of paint applied since her building to today and it was more of a sandy color than the yellow ochre she was currently painted in, so if you look at Victory today she is painted with the correct 1805 colors.

The World seems to forget that the Royal Navy has been tier 1 for hundreds of years, invariably against the odds. We just need more sailors. Modern youth are having our legacy taught out of them. The Government needs to advertise all the services and conscript troublesome youths.

Worth watching "Nelson's Navy" in the BBC 'Timewatch' series. Our ships held the Western Approaches for 3 YEARS without interruption. Huge traing, morale and discipline - lead by great officers. Nelso deliberately wore his 4 Orders on his coat during the battle - to inspire his men as he stood to battle. You should have quoted the RATE OF FIRE IN THE BRITISH SHIPS, AS WELL AS THEIR FAR SUPERIOR SEAMANSHIP. They served with great enshusiasm as well as alacrity - the French were terrified of them! My (a number of greats) uncle served aboad HMS Phoebe at this time - but in a different theatre. In this time high morale was the result of LEADERSHIP - the men were NEVER driven by the lash! (the 'cat' was reserved for thieves and evil miscreants - men WANTED TO SEE JUSTICE WAS DONE.

I think the Zumwalt might have some things to say about claiming this is the most advanced warship.
