Great Work! I use similar method for repairing speaker veneer. I prefer replacing veneer pieces over wood filler/epoxy. Reason being that the chips and dings are usually corners and need the strength that putty just doesn’t have. Well, no need to explain. YOU are the PRO! 👍🏻

Do you yet it dry or tack before ironing?

I’ve tried both methods and tacky is definitely better at adhering and takes less time to heat up the glue. I will be posting a full length tutorial shortly, so don’t miss it! I also have a post about ironing on veneer at boldwallflowers.com

I had no idea you could make your own shellac! Is it cheaper?

Yes! I once did a cost analysis and it definitely cheaper to make your own then to purchase already made wood shellac. Plus you can make small batches for when you need it. Dried shellac flakes store indefinitely.

Bleach can unfortunately effect the structure of some woods. I used hydrogen peroxide and ammonia in low concentration. I will be sharing more details on the blog soon, including concentrations, how too, safety, etc... it will also go out in an upcoming newsletter.
