Jogless Jog on Purl Side

When you work a circular project with the purl side facing (or knit for that matter), you are actually working a spiral, where the last stitch of the round is never side by side with the first stitch you had at the beginning to the round. Hi Andrea! Wanted you to know that your website is not accepting orders (says error… won’t take cc info); also, I tried to send you a message there, and it was rejected for “spam bots…?” I was trying to purchase your video for Fair Isle, and was trying to send this message: PLEASE consider: There is no other RUclips or other content for a full sock-knittlng class fully with Portuguese-style knitting. IE, wrong-side knitting that produces a stockinette-stich/pattern on the right-side. I have been knitting Portuguese-style for about 3 years, and learned from your videos. I love to knit socks; and try to flip inside-out to do stranded-knitting, but then get flustered to flip again to do heel and decreases. Please consider doing an ‘inside-out’ purl sock’ (portuguese-style) for ‘the rest of us who can’t figure it out.” Thank you! Anissa Long Hopefully you can get it figured out! Would love to connect! Andrea, I've actually done Latvian braids on the non-public side, too. I tried it when I was working on a hat using Portuguese knitting on the non-public side. I started my hat with ribbing and with my yarns on my pins as usual, then when I got to the Latvian braid, I did my set up row alternating colors and doing purls, not knits. Then I dropped the yarn off my pins and instead of having the yarn in front and doing knits, I had my yarn in the back and did purls. The public side turned out exactly the same as if I had done it on that side. When I finished the two rows of the Latvian braid, I put my yarns back on my pins and continued my hat on the non-public side, Portuguese style. Either way is great and they are SUCH a pretty addition to patterns!! Great video. THANKS!!!

The lady who NICELY suggested a darker color has a valid point in that everyone’s monitors are different and some may not have as much contrast. But I’m always amazed at the people who ONLY complain when you are providing free content. 🙄 I took your class at Temptations and am so glad I did. I switch back and forth between Portuguese and English especially when knitting stockinette. I still have trouble with my yarn flowing through the pin and my hand. I find my knitting is always coming closer to my face, then I adjust it. Do you have a video to show how to keep the tension even and yarn flowing?

      Thank you so much. I did see the pattern you had below you video but I had already sent the question. I will be watching more of your channel. I love the way you knit. I’ve never seen that technique before,it’s fascinating. Thank you.

      What I show is the pattern. When you reach the desired width, then you start decreasing two stitches every 4th row. Can you do that?

      Isn’t it, Maureen! And people have been knitting like this for centuries! You can find the needle in my Etsy shop if you want to give this a try. Thank you for your comment!

    Beautiful lace! It's a mystery, though, why so many knitters here on RUclips choose yarn that matches the background (table). It makes it really hard to see what's going on.

      You are absolutely right. Why do these people not watch their own videos before posting. Another annoying thing is when they use variegated yarn when showing a pattern. Oh really!!!!

      @@virginiadutoit3577 hi Virginia, I do watch my own videos before I posted. To me there was enough contrast to see what I was doing, but I will look for even more contrast next time.

    I purl into that first slip-knot stitch and then insert the right-hand needle between the two stitches from back to front, allowing me to create the next stitch as if I were purling.

    Andrea, Can you show how to eliminate a jog when doing a fair isle type of pattern on the non-public side? I am doing a hat with a charted pattern and the first or last stitch sometimes are the same color, sometimes different colors, sometimes a new color. Is it even possible to use your jogless technique in some way?

    • @AndreaWongKnits
      @AndreaWongKnits 3 месяца назад

      Yes, it is possible unless the colors and patterns change every few rows. Try to use what I show. It gets harder if you don’t have plain rounds in between color change

    • @kindergeek
      @kindergeek 3 месяца назад

      Yes that’s exactly the problem. Your easy technique works with some sections of my complicated projects and not with others. I will persevere!
